Regarding South Carolina’s nuclear project and SCANA’s involvement: Are you aware that SCANA has raised natural gas rates for seniors a huge amount? I just had my rate raised 98 percent, from .559 to 1.109. The former was the SCANA Senior Advantage fixed rate, and the new one is the SCANA Senior Advantage variable rate.
I called them to ask why the huge rate increase, and they said they “couldn’t afford the lower rate” any more. Is this because of the issues with the nuclear project, and SCANA is making us pay to cover its losses?
Did SCANA raise everyone’s rates, or is it just targeting the senior population – and why should the Georgia residents pay for a South Carolina project ?
