Letter: Jubilee a great success

I am extraordinarily proud of our city of North Augusta employees.

Once again, the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee was a great success. Congratulations to the committee and support personnel for proving once again that North Augusta does it right. This was a total team effort, led by a dedicated committee of hardworking employees.

The attendance was outstanding, reflecting just how important this event has become to people all across the CSRA. Crowd estimates always are difficult, but I’ve heard estimates that the crowd Oct. 27 was 10,000 or more.

What truly is impressive is there were no incidents and no arrests. That speaks volumes about our citizens. It also says a lot about our public safety officers and supporting units from other jurisdictions. They were prepared, and they were visible. Thankfully, all their preparation turned out to be just practice.

Planning for next year already has begun. Vendors look forward to this event. I do, and I know you do, too. Put it on your calendars: Oct. 26 and 27, 2018.
