So punish the 96?

Regarding the letter “Sociopaths need treatment” (Oct. 15):

The writer laments the probability that Zitedrick Shelly “will never be treated to control his impulses.” My comment is that there is a treatment for mad dogs, and it is effective. Unfortunately its application has been eschewed by bleeding-heart liberals who want to cure everyone’s illnesses by government action.

Of course, in this letter’s final sentence its author blithely suggests that Las Vegas killer Stephen Paddock’s actions would never have happened if “we can ban the tools that allowed him to inflict so much death.” Right on cue!

Now harken back to the letter writer’s second paragraph, where she offers proof that 4 percent of the population are sociopaths. So, ergo, ban guns, knives, spears, etc., so 4 percent of the population cannot attack the other 96 percent? The utter stupidity and direction of the liberal mindset is displayed here for all to see.

This letter’s author also states that sociopaths “feel no guilt or shame.”

Obviously, neither do folks like this letter’s liberal author who tell us how we should live and protect ourselves.
