Regarding Ron Cross, chairman of the Columbia County Board of Commissioners, and the October “newsletter” included in Columbia County’s mailed water bills:
The opposite of “diversity” is not “united.” It is uniformity, the definition of which is “an attempt to impose administrative and cultural consistency.”
Is that what Cross really wants? Uniformity in thinking, education, dress, skin color and sexual preference? Everyone should be just like everyone else?
Perhaps we should all be like Cross? Male, white and conservative? It is possible to be both diverse and united in love of country. Just ask all the people of color, genders, religions and, of course, immigrants in the military. And, by the way, I’m not sure why it is ethical or legal for Cross to publish his personal opinions and political views on the taxpayer’s dime.
Is it because the Columbia County commissioners tend to approve everything Cross does in support of uniformity?
