New inscription, new direction

My idea is to:

1. Keep the monument where it is.

2. Remove the inscription on the side of the monument.

3. Erect a beautiful plaque at the foot of the monument with a message something like this:

“This historical monument serves as a reminder of a time in history when so many precious young lives were lost on both the North and the South in a war that so many of them did not understand. May the atrocities of war and the evil of slavery never happen again in our country. May God’s love shine down on us and show us how far we have come, and yet how far we must still go. May we all live together in peace and in God’s glory and may our country never be divided again.”
