Cartoon captured it

Kudos to Rick McKee for his editorial page cartoon on Thursday, July 6! He captured in one swift glance the essence of two infantile world leaders having a tantrum!

No words were needed to grasp the sad state of affairs our country has fallen into with our president (I use that word with tongue firmly planted in cheek) and his total lack of control.

It is scary enough, and an intolerable notion, to have North Korea’s Kim Jong-un lobbing incipient nuclear missiles toward the United States, but even more worrisome to have moronic Twitter threats as a reply from the supposed leader of the free world!

The “Obamanation” that we had to suffer for the last eight years was nothing compared to the incompetent leadership we are stuck with now, which is falling apart faster than a window hit by a brick. Where cool heads, sound plans, and a resolve to keep America safe are mandatory in the many adverse situations America faces right now, we are stuck with the retorts of a Twittering egomaniac on steroids.

With the man on Air Force One meeting with world leaders this past week, we should be confident and hopeful of meaningful dialogue among them, but that hope diminishes with each tweet from the thumbs, not the brain, of the one who should be showing intelligent discourse.

I have the distinct impression that nothing or no one will be able to rein in this unacceptable behavior, and that is a very sad commentary on America’s leadership.

I write this as a very conservative person who constantly hopes for peace among nations, though one who knows it sometimes takes force to accomplish. Right now we are stuck with a strutting stag using tweets as horns during mating season!
