For all the turmoil our Augusta Commission has, I think I have an answer.
This commission seems to think throwing thousands of dollars, which turns into millions, on studies will solve problems. It never works.
In order for this city to progress, we need to have a different way for officials to be elected. Any representatives of a city should be elected on their ability to represent the whole city, not just a certain district.
That is why Augusta is such a racially divided city. Districts in this town tend to vote on color instead of someone’s character and ability to move this city forward.
This is why we need at-large voting. Until that happens, Augusta will never reach its full potential.
