As a resident of south Augusta for more than 50 years, I would like to comment about the Augusta commissioners who say they want to grow this area.
When we moved here everyone would cut their yards and keep trash picked up, but not now. After talking to Commissioner Ben Hasan at a recent meeting, he said he would get with the compliance officer. Someone came out soon after that, and a handful of people did cut their weeds (only a few of us have grass), but most did not.
If these commissioners truly want this area to grow, they must make irresponsible residents clean up their property before any business would or should come to south Augusta.
I also mentioned to Commissioner Marion Williams that they should stop wasting big money on all of these so-called studies (especially when nothing ever changes) and put that money in a real compliance office.
