Stand with Palestinians

  • Follow Letters

What does it mean to be an American? To stand for freedom? To combat the injustices life presents us? A closer definition, for most, would be to stand for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. So, as Americans, why would we not want other humans in this world to enjoy the same liberties as we do in this amazing nation we call home?

We Americans have common ground with the Palestinians. We fought for our freedom and the right to exist just as they have been fighting. The difference is we are, and have been, supporting the occupiers. Imagine if France had backed England during the Revolutionary War. America likely would not be in existence today just as Palestine isn’t (according to Western nations).

This is just one reason it is un-American to support the Israeli regime.

The idea that some Jewish people need a place to call home is antiquated and misunderstood. Jewish people live everywhere, and usually in relative peace with the surrounding people. Israel is the exception. Illegal Jewish settlers accompanied by the Israeli government and the Israeli Defense Forces have stolen land, homes, lives, resources and even basic human rights from the Palestinians. The genocide that has been happening in Gaza, and what is left of the West Bank, is a modern-day atrocity that has been supported by Western governments since 1947.

Dare I mention the amount of the United States’ money that is being given away to Israel? And Americans receive no benefits from it. To date, Israel has been given $121 billion in aid alone! Imagine where our country would be if that money had been invested back into this nation we all call home.

Just as the world boycotted South Africa until they ended apartheid, we need to do the same for Israel. I say “for” Israel because, until the world stands up to this bully and its supporters, the Palestinian people will never know freedom or justice.

I'll gladly stand with the Palestinians when they quit shooting rockets and and building tunnels to target civilians. I'll gladly stand with the Palestinians when they honor the cease fires and agreements they sign. Until then I find there behavior horrible.

Muslim lands still call for the extinction of the Jews

and this writer hides that calling behind a comparison to the American revolution and freedom?
goodness but the modern nazis think they're clever
stand up for the Nazis! Kill the Jews!
muslim lands have been given hundreds of billions, probably trillions,
of dollars in oil money.
Have muslim lands used this money to help their poor?
ah, no
this letter could have been written in Germany in 1939, concerning Jews.
it's amazing we still have such humans on earth, with such primeval views about Jews, in modern times
but if you want a time machine to see what the dark ages were like
and how women and children were treated from 700 AD until 1400 AD
visit a Muslim land (of course not the few acres of modern oppulent Oz cities, but the rest of their lands)
the Jews have disproportionately, over history, improved society
in every scientific breakthrough... academics is their calling and they treat it with the same importance other cultures have for sports
and Western and Muslim lands have benefited
Israel should be defended at all costs, for if it falls,
all of Western Civilization will fall soon after

The land was Israel and Jewish...

The land was Israel and Jewish before the "Palestinians" ever existed.

The Palestinians have been offered land. As a matter of fact, they were offered the same amount of land Israel was offered and they turned it down.

The Palestinians living in Israel are much, mush better off than those in Gaza and other places. The other Arab countries do not appear to really care about the Palestinians otherwise they would have helped them more and taken them in. In reality, they are outcasts in the Arab world.

Please explain why they destroyed over 3000 green houses as well as other infrastructure given them when Israel turned over the Gaza strip.

The mistake Israel made was when they 1967 War was over was calling areas gained "occupied" when they should have just called it Israel just as other countries have done when gaining territory in winning a war.

No, America should not stand beside a group of people acting as the Palestinians are acting and declaring they want to wipe out a race of people. The modern Palestinians were conceived in violence led by self-serving, Jew haters and don't deserve anymore than they are currently getting until they change their ways.

As deestafford stated;

"The Palestinians living in Israel are much, mush better off than those in Gaza and other places."

The geographical location of Israel, belonged to the Jews well before Palestine ever existed; so who are the real occupiers?

The Palestinians who live in the FREE Country of Israel, are much better off than those living in Gaza, who voted Hamas as their ruling government!!

Israel and America provide people with MORE freedom, not less; as Hamas and other radical Islamic Countries do!! American fought the oppressors in their war of Independence!! Israel fought the oppressors (radical Islam) in their war(s) of Independence!! This is why we always stand together, because we always fight the oppressors!! But, people like Mrs. Ahmadipour want to confuse people, as to who the REAL oppressors are!! Because if you confuse the people, you've won over half the battle!! Confused people, who don't know right from wrong, won't stand up for the right side, they won't stand up at all, because they don't know who to stand for!! The people, are the MVP in most Countries!! If you get the people to stop supporting something, they Country usually follows in tow!! Besides radical Countries like Russia, China or the numerous Islamic states (in other words, communist/socialist Countries); when the people don't support something, it usually doesn't happen!! So, the left has to get the MVP on the bench; because an opponents player on the bench, isn't hurting your team!! So they lie, causing confusion; so the opponents MVP (the people); sit on the bench and do nothing, because they don't know who to support!! That's over half the battle already accomplished!!

"The mistake Israel made was when they 1967 War was over was calling areas gained "occupied" when they should have just called it Israel just as other countries have done when gaining territory in winning a war."

I agree!! Maybe Israel was too kind to them, to give them a piece of land to call their own; as this has brought all these attacks on them. Many wars throughout history have been fought, for claim of land!! "To the winner, goes the spoils". Israel has won, each time it's been involved in a conflict. So they COULD easily have taken ALL the land; but choose not too. Israel and America are blessed with wealth by the TRUE God!! Wealth in finances and power!! Israel and America are two of the youngest Countries in existence, yet are two of the most powerful to ever exist!! Why? Because "In God We Trust" and we trust in the TRUE God and He blesses us for it!! He protects us and watches over us!! It's evident to anyone who uses common sense to see!! The opponents of America must use deception and lies to confuse people and turn them against America and Israel. America and Israel stand for Truth; and truth will win in the end!!

The letter writes sounds like

The letter writes sounds like he supports the Hamas and terrorism. Palestine gets plenty of financial support http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_aid_to_Palestinians
They also get military support from Iran, etc.
The mention of apartheid is more apt to apply to Israel-a small jewish nation in a giant sea of muslims and arabs. Seems sympathy would be for the underdog and not just another muslim country in the area. Definitely not just anti-semitic and anti-zionist but supporting the illegal and terroristic Palestine. Israel is a legal nation-Palestine isn't . Dem's da breaks.

Syria committed genocide and

Syria committed genocide and the US didn't really say or do doodle-basically just rolled over and let Putin mitigate it and Syria kept killing people. But now we get all big pants and stick our nose in Israel's business and want to infer with their actions-when we turned a blind eye to Syria and Iraq.

Note the letter writer didn't

Note the letter writer didn't propose a two state solution, but was anti-zionist and anti-semitic and doesn't want a nation of Israel. They must support terrorism by Hamas to kill jews-because it will run them out. I wonder if they hate America as much as jews and Israel.

I wonder if these supporters

I wonder if these supporters of the Palestinians believe that if the tables were turned would the Palestinians allow the Israelis to live and work in peace in a Palestinian country. The answer is of course, NO, because this is not about land, this is about hatred of the Jewish people. This is about the eradication of Israel.

I think carcraft said it all.

I think carcraft said it all.

I'll give consideration to the Palestinians' concerns when they quit lobbing rockets, digging tunnels, and sending suicide bombers. It is the Palestinians who have violated every truce, treaty, and cease-fire. And any quarantine or embargo they are suffering now is a result of their own actions and atrocities. Even their neighbor Arab countries don't want to have anything to do with them. I personally think the Israelis have shown a lot of restraint in the situation over the long term. They should have leveled Gaza and pushed the rubble into the sea a long time ago.

I feel more compassion for the Palestinians' than they felt for the victims of 9/11. There were 1000s in the streets celebrating after 9/11.

PALESTINIANS

Israel was under daily rocket attack by the Palestinian supported Hamas and I guess the letter writer was OK with that. Israel is fighting for it's very existence but I guess the lady doesn't want that to happen. No other Muslim country wants Palestinians in their country and you have to wonder why? Israel has turns a wasteland into a productive country and the Palestinians are still living like it's 700 A.D. Maybe countries feeding them has turned them into welfare parasites.

If we were to furnish the Palestinians with a huge lump sum of money, where would it go? To purchase rockets and concrete for tunnels into Israel.

No thanks, letter writer, I'll pass.

America and other countries have given Palestine huge sums of money and they still live like welfare rats. They'd rather lob rockets into Israel than feed themselves. They'd rather build those tunnels than build self sustaining farms to feed their people. I guess their choices is why they live like they do.

I have compassion for some Palestinians,

but they are the Christians, who are being harassed so much that they are almost all gone from that area. Their fellow Palestinians non-Christians kill them and destroy their churches whenever possible, and Israel lumps them in with all the other Palestinians.

I wish there were a way for Christian Palestinians to leave the violence and destruction, but some simply can't, and staying there with the Islamists means they're getting it from all sides.

Stephanie,

you will not receive much of a sympathetic audience here in Augusta. Your arguments are based on so many absurd assumptions that it is pretty pointless to try and address them.

Needless to say, Palestinians have land. They were given it when it was carved out of Israel. The decision to give Israel a homeland was made by the world, and perhaps had the Arab nations not sided with the Nazis, more would have been done to accommodate the people whose homes and land ended up as part of a new nation. They could have adapted and done well, as some did, or they could have left and gone to another Arab country to live.

It is what happens. Israel has a right to exist and live in peace and safety, whether you agree or not. And no, America has nothing in common with Palestine. Sure, we have an idiot in the White House, but we are not a nation of angry idiots, not yet anyway. And we don't use our women and children as shields for our military and weapons. We protect our women and children and do everything possible to keep them safe. We value the life of individuals, while Hamas and other such terrorist entities are essentially hives.

We could not be more different, and if you don't get that, you don't really get America and perhaps shouldn't be calling yourself one.

Stand with Palistine?

Stand with Palistine against Isreal? Stand against one of the few if not the only free democracies in the Middle East, Stand with a Muslim Totalitarianism, hell bent on jihad against nonbelievers, that's us folks? The concept is too rediculous to take seriously. Religious war has been waged in that part of the world for thousands of years, even before Mohammad and Islam, we will not stop it, only Armageddon will bring it to an end. The The US is not so loved around the world that we we can afford to comprimise, not even, one friendly government.

This writer, much like the "Religion of Peace" is totally delusional. This fundamentally flawed "religion" either encompasses hate, in tolerance and violence or excuses it when their fellow member carry out hideous acts.

I will stand with Israel...always.
