Put Mideast in perspective

  • Follow Letters

In reply to Ayman Fadel’s letter (“Cease U.S. aid to Israel,” July 22), I would like to point out that Israel is not attacking the terrorists in Gaza for the purpose of massacring innocent people. Furthermore, Palestinian rocket fire into Israel from 2006 until the present has been in excess of 11,199 missiles. Hardly minimal!

As for the Palestinian refugees’ right of return, the attacking Arab Bloc armies told the Palestinians to evacuate their homes for 48 hours while they massacred the Israelis. The Israelis begged the Palestinians to stay, but they chose to flee instead. As we all know, Israel prevailed and became a state. Israel uprooted Israeli settlers from Gaza by force when it was ceded to the Palestinians. This ceding of land did not bring peace because of the Islamic doctrine of waqf. Most people who have heard of waqf think of the office of guardianship of religious shrines. It has a more sinister meaning: perpetual/eternal estate.

As radicals interpret the doctrine of waqf, all land ever acquired by Islam has been dedicated to Allah. Consequently, Spain, Portugal and parts of France, Italy and Greece still are considered to be Islamic possessions by radicals in the Islamic world. Therefore, ceding land to the Palestinians, who believe the land is theirs by right of waqf, will never bring peace.

Unfortunately, neighboring Muslim countries have chosen not to assimilate Palestinian refugees to foster their political agendas, whereby many of the Palestinians are compelled to live in squalid internment camps run by the United Nations. This political agenda engenders and foments a diabolical hatred of the Israelis.

Truth be known the Arabs could care less about...

Truth be known the Arabs could care less about the Palestinians. If they had they would have incorporated them into Jordan or other Arab countries decades ago. The Arabs want nothing to do with them and that is especially true since Hamas is playing a big role in the political arena now.

There can be no compromise with Hamas because it is in their charter that their number one goal is the destruction of Israel. One can't compromise with someone who puts one's destruction as their main purpose in life.

The Jews had that land hundreds of years before Mohammed was ever born. It is theirs and not the Johnny-come-lately "Palestinians"---a made up people.

Nothing short of Israel's

Nothing short of Israel's destruction will satisfy these radical Islamists. If Israel is going to survive, they are going to have to use some heavy tactics and use them before Iran reaches their final stages of nuclear weapon capability.

Israel did not exist until

Israel did not exist until created in the 1940's by the UN from guilt of the holocaust and amidst much violence by Zionisist pro-Israel groups. The Irgun bombed the King David Hotel in 1946, killing 91 and wounding 46. In 2006, Israel had the nerve to open a momument to commemorate the terrorists who committed the bombing. Yosef Weitz, director of the Land and Afforestation Department of the Jewish National Fund, wrote in his diary in 1940:
"The only solution is to transfer the Arabs from here to neighbouring countries. Not a single village or a single tribe must be let off."
It sounds like he learned a few things from Hitler and Himmler. Those sweet poor Jews in Israel. Develop their own "final solution" and build monuments to honor terrorists. Obviously, they're the total good guys in this mess, all the way around. Start tearing down the settlements and pulling out the Zionist extremists. Show you have an inkling that you might want to make an inroad towards peace. The problem is, Netanyahu is a far right wing extremist Zionist himself and doesn't want peace. Never has and never will. He believes in zero consessions. His idea of peace is Israel dominates and rules with an iron boot. He and Putin are birds of a feather. From 1996, when Netanyahu was Prime Minister:

1940? Really, Bodhistechfan.....are you going to just pretend like Israel didn't form in the 11th century BC? I guess if you just ignore history, you can rewrite it however you want.

To all the anti-semites, what would be your suggestion on how Israel should react to being shot at by rockets fired from schools and hospitals?

I would be willing to bet you won't get an answer to your last question but the anti-semites are thinking , Israel should pack up and leave. My guess is that most Palestinians realize that without Israel their lives would be much much worse.

The USA didn't exist before 1776.....so when are you leaving? Would you just sit back and take it if the Cherokee started launching rockets at your home?

"The only solution is to transfer the Arabs from here to neighbouring [sic] countries. Not a single village or a single tribe must be let off."

That seems better than the solution that Hamas has offered....and is the basis for their founding....to rid the Earth of Jews.

The two sides cannot co-exist

The two sides cannot co-exist in peace. Israel has made concessions, deals, agreements, and cease fires....ALL of which have been violated by the Palestinians.

If I must choose, I choose to support Israel and their right to defend THEIR United Nations recognized country and it's right to exist. Not only that, but I would support a total reoccupation of Gaza, total annihilation of HAMAS and any other radicals, and strong encouragement of all Palestinians to migrate to Egypt or Jordan. They also need to go ahead, before it is too late, and take the necessary military action against Iran and it's nuclear program since the people of Iran to not have the inclination or will to remove their radical leadership.

I'm sure Bod will disagree...and I don't care.
