Gridlock is the GOP's fault

  • Follow Letters

President Obama has asked for $3.7 billion from Congress to deal with the current immigration crisis. This money is intended to (1) set up new detention facilities, (2) conduct more aerial surveillance and (3) hire immigration judges and more agents to increase border security.

A lot of these initiatives originally were Republican proposals; nevertheless, conservatives on Capitol Hill still are responding with skepticism and obfuscation to a plan that is earning Obama condemnation from many in his own party for being too hard on immigrants.

U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, recently said: “The president caused this self-inflicted crisis on the border by refusing to enforce the law, and now he is requesting a $3.7 billion bailout from the taxpayers to rectify his mistakes.” This is Republicans’ rationale for not supporting the bill? Because Obama finally has come around to their side?

It’s clear that Republicans are playing politics and are committed to opposing anything the president suggests, even if it contains elements of their own agenda. Whatever Obama is for, they are against. It’s that simple – and it plainly illustrates which party is responsible for the gridlock on Capitol Hill.

The letter writer is incorrect in his perspective...

The letter writer is in correct in his perspective and the intent of Obama's request for funds.

The primary thing that needs to be done is to stop the flow of invaders across the border into the US. This proposal does nothing but hire more judges and protect the young invaders.

For less than $10M each of these children could be flown back to their home country. Obama is not interested in sending the children back.

Obama's mother was enamored with third world countries, as was his father, and all his mentors and he is trying to turn America into a third world country or as close as he possibly can. This man hates what America stands for and has said he will take it down.

Question. Do you really believe this invasion is not...

Question. Do you really believe this invasion is not welcome and initiated by Obama's actions?

Question. Do you really believe these children invading us are truly escaping violence and all as the reason for coming here?

If one wanted to escape violence and have a better life, would it not make more sense to go to a country whereby one did not have to travel over a thousand miles through hostile drug cartels and bandits to a country which did not speak your language? Of course you would.

So, why not go to Costa Rica which is closer, speaks Spanish, and has free education all the way through college. It's the most peaceful country in that section of the world. Oh,wait a minute, it has no welfare system as the US does.

$3,700,000,000.00 (that we don't have)

on top of what we're already spending. This is insane!

Put the border patrol back on the border and let the Red Cross handle any "humanitarian crisis". Add the National Guard (temporarily) if necessary. That's what they're for.

It's amazing that the president gets away with saying (from one side of this mouth), "It's the Republican's" and from the other "I have a pen and I have a phone". The latter being why Republicans can't trust him (the rest of the country doesn't trust him either).

I do wish he were capable of getting Congress involved though. Just look at all the messes caused by the actions (or inaction's) he's taken without them!

Fly them back

at $300 a head is a lot less costly.
Give Mexico 10 Million to house and feed them.
Make them Mexico's problem.

Maybe Mexico will charge the Parents for child abandonment.

This money is needed for

This money is needed for legal defense of these kids that are allowed due process ,unlike Mexicans and other nationalities, because of a law specific to Latin Americans. Now the president has ignored the laws to protect the border and ignored any law he desires, but now he specifically wants to execute this law needing 3.7 billions in initial cost and likely billions more. Why? Why would he pick this huge expense and not just seal the border and fly the people(as they already are being ) back to their homes? He has a cell phone and a pen but chooses to create this financial burden and problem. He doesn't' have to do this, but chooses too. Unless the House ca get past the Reid embargo that refuses to bring up the over 200 bills pending from the House. Reid is holding it up intentionally so the prez can use executive orders.

Blame on both sides?????

Republicans are to blame only in that EVERY Immigration agreement they have entered into with the Democrat has been violated.

As such they no longer trust Democrats to honor their agreements.

Some People !!

There have always been laws on the books for dealing with legal and illegal immigrants that have always done the job. Immigration reform is NOT needed here as we simply need to start enforcing our current immigration laws.
In regards to the current government created crisis these kids need to be sent to their respective country embassies and given back to their country to deal with and transport back home.

There's not much I can add to

There's not much I can add to the comments already posted. We all know why the House will not agree to the "robbery" of our tax money this president is trying to commit.

GAFLYBOY - the Republicans have tried to get involved in this, they've sent many bills to help solve this crisis. O is not going to take any of their solutions because it would make him look bad and the Repubs look good. Plus he does not want the border sealed and this was done to force the House to give him a bill without the stipulation to close the borders.

I have wondered where all the stimulus money went when O first took office as it was reported there was some left over and none of the money that got allocated was obviously used as it was intended. Where did all the money go that went to the 25 or so "green" businesses that went bankrupt within a few months after receiving our hard earned money. Now 3.7 billion is requested - wonder wherre that will really end up.

The problem with SCOTUS

is we'll have to wait 2 years for it to reach them.

To bad they can't just review the laws and etc... as they are produced and flag UN-Constitutional laws & actions immediately

Do y'all realize that the people...

Do y'all realize that the people who pick these illegal children up here as "family, etc" do not have to identify themselves with any proof? Nor are they asked for their immigration status. So, we could have illegal immigrates picking up these children. Additionally, they could be part of the sex trade.

The administration official was asked about this by congress and they said they impress upon the people who pick them up that they are responsible for having them at an immigration hearing in 60-90 days.
Guess what? Only 10-15% show up for the hearing.

Are we being biologically invaded?

Are we being biologically invaded? A number of these children have illness ranging from scabbie to TB and measles. What is not to say some have not be infected with small pox or some other communicable disease?

If an enemy wanted to slip biological agents into the country this would be an ideal way to do it.

Keep in mind that not all of these invaders are coming from Central and South America.

This letter writer

is obviously uninformed (goes without saying). Number 3 of his list states O wants to hire more border agents. Has he not heard that O has forbid the many border patrol agents we have now to NOT arrest or turn back these illegals. And he has told Arizona they cannot send anyone to stem the flow. So does he want to hire more in order to help usher in more of these illegals because it certainly isn't because he wants to stop this influx.

This increased influx has been going on for...

This increased influx has been going on for over a year and a half but it just recently hit the news.

There has been a tremendous effort by Obama and his worshipers to cover this up. The Border Patrol has been screaming about this and nothing has been done.

Over 70% of the Border Patrol agents are now baby sitting these invaders and not on the border.

Yesterday, I saw deer camera pictures of dozens of invading drug smugglers each with 50 pound back packs loaded with drugs walking through the mountains 30 miles into AZ.

The Border Patrol are not allowed to chase invaders into wildlife areas using their vehicles.. There are places along the border that agents cannot go because of federal wildness areas have been established to protect some type of wild life. Obama has recently designated thousands of acres along the border as wild life areas. This will further restrict access of agents to chase invaders in these areas.

If one did not know better, one would think Obama is doing everything he could to increase the number of invaders so as to weaken America.

If I were president and wanted to do that I would be taking the exact same actions Obama is. This is no accident or incompetence. This is all on purpose and well planned.

So these kids don't cross the border- they arrive at border and then surrender themselves to border agents. They don't have to allow them in, but they let them in. They are not sneaking into the border, but arrive and let in intentionally.

However, that seems to be the way things have been since Kennedy Administration.

here the most sane

here the most sane solution...enforce ALL immigration laws on the books now..and i believe that law they keep refering to (2008) was specfic in nature dealing with the immoral sex trafficking..which i believe has even been acknowledge by one of its sponsors..FiENSTEN CA....any how if not obumler could waive his magis pen ...fly all back after physicals and shots for 10 mill or so...BUT, my fear is that he been golfing and fund raising and hasnt read the papers yet and is un aware of this crisis...after all this is how he stays informed....

"What is not to say some have not be infected with small pox or some other communicable disease?"

Well, because smallpox has been eradicated worldwide and doesn't exist in Latin America, I don't think that will be a problem. All that's left is some stored in vials.

You should worry far more about Hepatitis and HIV, Dee Stafford, in Americans, those numbers keep climbing and climbing with no end in sight.

As for TB, there are immigrants from all over the world brining that in, that's not just limited to Latin America. Asian immigrants have that, too.

If all the illegal immigrants left Texas and went back home, the Texas economy would collapse. This is just election-year baloney, he's not really serious about closing the border.

If that were to happen, there'd be another revolt in Texas.

This is a "manufactured"

This is a "manufactured" crisis intended for political purposes. When Obama said I have a phone and I will use it this is what he was referring to. Through his inaction on deportations and his statements on pro amnesty over the past several years he has sent out the message that " if you can make it across the US border you will not be deported". This is one reason these young illegals have been "off limits" to everyone including the press. Obama said they are coming to escape violence however the illegals said they came because the word was they would be able to stay if they came.

Corgi small pox is considered

Corgi small pox is considered irradicated-I think the last natural outbreak in the US was in the 40's or 50's. Vaccinations just about made it obsolete, except repositories of virus held by Russia and US. However kids have not been vaccinated against small pox since the 70's. So anyone born after 70's would be susceptible to small pox if the virus naturally appeared or was intentionally released as biological warfare.

REFORM
Unpublished

Why do we need immigration reform. We already have laws on the books that have worked when we enforced them. Democrats have helped Mexico and South American countries to invade our country for political reasons. I saw Nancy Pelosi say when she saw the kids at the border she wanted to take them home. She's a wealthy woman so let her.

Corgi, Texas has 6.7 percent

Corgi, Texas has 6.7 percent illegals making up 9 percent of workforce. Georgia has 4.4percent illegals making up 7 percent of workforce. I don't think that losing those workers would be that bad and open jobs for all the unemployed legal Americans. They don't do jobs That I haven't done myself working on farms and construction so it isn't jobs Americans can't do.
