More bad trades soon?

On March 30, 1867, the United States reached an agreement to purchase Alaska from Russia for a price of $7.2 million. The treaty with Russia was negotiated and signed by Secretary of State William Seward and Russian Minister to the United States Eduard de Stoeckl.

In light of the latest Taliban trade, we should hope President Obama doesn’t give Alaska back to Russia within the next two years!

Hey, don't say that too loud.

Hey, don't say that too loud. The way Putin is flexing his muscles against the weakling, Obama, he may just decide to roll across the Bearing Straight and take it back like Ukraine. After all, a written agreement, contract, or treaty doesn't mean anything to Putin and Putin knows Obama will just draw another line in the sand.......the oil sands of Canada that is.

Hey, don't rule it out. After all, the purchase WAS roundly criticized at the time as Seward's folly.

And it would give OzBama at least a 72 hour reprieve from media coverage of all his other screw-ups.

Hey, don't neglect to mention

that your previous Commander in Chief traded the lives of some 4,500 US servicemen & women for the peace and prosperity of today's Iraq.

exactly swcohen, and their maverick phony pow mcain wants a new bush team to go back in and start it back up.mcain needs to resign, get a serious mental evaluation and go away.surely no one remembers during his campaign against Obama, that it was revealed that the Vietcong had video of mcains treatment, and that they would let him go after finding out who his father was.it was also mentioned that he was not supposed to be in that airspace when shotdown.surely, after crashing all those jets he would learn something.his solution for everything?bomb, bomb, and bomb some more.let Iraq crumble and move on.we know how to defend ourselves,we did it before bush opened this can of worms, and now relaxes in his free mansion in dallas painting pictures of his heroes.

Nice try, but that would be your CURRENT Commander in Chief. Bush only set a "target" date for withdrawal. OzBama was so consumed with his "legacy" and building his ephemeral résumé that he rushed the pullout, against advice from his military counsel.

Bush would have made certain that Iraq was stable before any kind of withdrawal. (Exit strategy is a term Democrats invented to use as a euphemism for military defeat following a half-hearted attempt to look and act tough.)

Oh well, Osama bin Laden IS dead (Thanks to water-boarding) and GM is on life support.

Our military has their own "exit strategy". They call it winning!

"....we know how to defend ourselves..."

Speaking from experience are we???

I read your post.. tried really hard to find just one fact.

Had to give up. The closest you came was in the fact that McCain WAS offered his freedom by the North Vietnamese and he refused because he would not allow himself or his father to be used for propaganda against the United States.

That in itself was heroic, although I hate to admit it because with every passing year, McCain gets more and more liberal. I really don't like the guy.

And one more little detail, Elliot...

The Vietcong NEVER even saw John McCain. The Vietcong were South Vietnamese insurgents.

It was the NORTH VIETNAMESE government that held McCain.

But those of us who "know how to defend ourselves" (and others) can be forgiven for knowing American history.
