Graham achieved little

It doesn’t take a cynic to see through U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham’s pro-life rhetoric.

If Sen. Graham is such a staunch friend of the unborn, then why did he vote to put Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court? Those two justices are firmly committed to the twisted constitutional logic of Roe v. Wade.

If this is such a concern to Sen. Graham, then why has he never tried to limit the federal courts’ appellate jurisdiction over abortion cases?

Article III Section 2 of the Constitution clearly gives Congress the power to limit the Supreme Court’s power over the cases it may choose to hear.

In truth, Sen. Graham cares little about his pro-life constituents. Instead, he uses his pro-life rhetoric to rally conservative Christians come election time. To Sen. Graham, social conservatives are little more than electoral cannon fodder. Once safely elected, he does nothing to advance their agenda.

Sen. Graham’s nominal championship of the pro-life cause is cynical politics at its worst. Look not at what he promised, but at what he accomplished. After 20 years in Congress, it’s been zero.
