Fight for nation's future

  • Follow Letters

Some people say the American dream is dead. We have ever-expanding federal government that spends too much and infringes on individual liberties in all aspects of our lives. Some people seem to exist to get offended by words or symbols while they pay no attention to the deeds that negatively affect every American.

It is not the liberal groups that are destroying our nation by their unholy alliances. Rather, it is general voter apathy among those who refuse to get informed, get involved and fight for what you or I believe is best for this nation.

The vast majority of Americans are decent people who are busy making livings and raising families. Too many people think it is a virtue to stay away from politics, which enables a vocal minority to trample over a silent majority.

We need to change that attitude. Whether we like it or not, politicians will determine our future. We preserved the republic for more than 200 years, but it seems we are destined to become a dictatorship if we don’t take control of the political process at the national level soon.

I don’t know about you, but I refuse to give up without fighting. Engage yourself, your family and friends and get a Republican elected in the 12th U.S. House District, and send U.S. Rep. John Barrow packing. We also need to elect a Republican senator from Georgia. If we can take the U.S. Senate in the 2014 election cycle, it will change the political landscape in Washington for the better.

Don’t give up. Our freedom and our children’s freedom is at risk.

What a funny letter. The political landscape IS changing- the backwards thinking republicans are dwindling down (Thanks teapublicans!) and people interested in equal rights for everyone, cleaner air, cleaner water are speaking up.

"Some people seem to exist to

"Some people seem to exist to get offended by words or symbols while they pay no attention to the deeds that negatively affect every American."

This truth could not be said any better. However, there are a few more tools used by leftist / Marxist.

Indoctrination of leftist ideology in our Universities spreading lie disguised as fact.

Incrementalism with the one by one passage of laws to remove constitutional freedom and continued liberal dogma such as man-made global warming and social justice, flooding our lives and corrupting the educationally challenged.

Our future has been plagued with leftist ideology and many people believe that our nation can't be this naive as to let this happen.

However, our way of life is on the edge of a cliff. If you people that believe in our constitution and the freedoms our founding father have bestowed upon us, then it is time to get off your duff and do something about it in November. Otherwise say goodbye to freedom and hello to totalitarianism.

Once again the ACES publishes an excellent letter...

Once again the ACES publishes an excellent letter from an informed and caring reader.

There are some people, my daughter and son in law are among them, who are so busy fighting daily alligators to survive and make a living for the family that they don't pay as close attention to what is going on as I would like. Thankfully, they have me to answer their questions and when voting time comes around they take the time to become informed on the issues.

There are so many things that are shocking about American citizens. One is the apathy and accompanying ignorance of our college students. The other day I saw some on the street interviews of political science students at George Washington University in DC and not one of those interview could name one US senator! Yet, these are the ones who are supposed to immersed in learning about our political system.

With the wide spread apathy and ignorance among the voters it's easy to see how the left is able to coral as many sheeple as they do and populate the liberal plantation.

The upcoming two elections in 2014 and 2016 are...

The upcoming two elections in 2014 and 2016 will determine the direction of America as no others have in our history. Will we continue down the road to serfdom or will be turn back to becoming the "Shining City on the Hill" that was the guiding light of those who embarked from the Mayflower?

The other day I read something that I don't know who said or wrote it that expresses so well about how I feel about those conservatives who love and care about America but fail to get out and vote in these next two elections:

"May your chains rest lightly upon you, and may history forget that ye were my countrymen."

The LIBERTY LOVING people must get out and vote to save the country from the tyranny of the left/progressives/liberals/Marxists or whatever other epithet they may be using to hide their designs of destroying the Founding Principles of America.

You're right, Dee. In theory, this is always the case.

lg55, Dee, ymnbde: A large

lg55, Dee, ymnbde:

A large part of the problem is people who might, or who have in the past, gotten pumped up about elections look out and see: Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Lindsay Graham (what are you S. Carolinians thinking?), Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, etc.

Those same people, meanwhile, are aghast at the enthusiasm of so many people surrounding them for the Democrat party and it's kaleidoscopic ideas.

You then get a collective: Really?

Gee, a believer in Ayn Rand, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh

Another Ayn Rand tool. Just what the nation needs. Followers of an atheist writer of long horrible fiction who believes in rampant unfettered laissez-faire captitalism running rampant over the rights of the people of the country. Until she got older and sick and immediately relied on the sociaistic Social Security and Medicare that she derided in her greedy, selfish, and hateful philosophy. Corporations are not people. If you want to make them people, make the officers subject to all of the rules and regulations that real people face. Put them in jail. If their pollution or chemical spills cause the death of people, give the CEO and all of the officers the death penalty. Fine them personally. No outs.
Disclaimer not included in letter. I'm sure the Chronicle verifies the identity of letter writers. Surely they were aware she's a high ranking officer in a highly partisan organization. Why no disclosure?

So make fun of Rand, Beck, and Limbaugh...but don't refute a single thing they say. So very typical of the liberals. If you have no valid argument, then attack and ridicule the speaker. Just as they did with Ronney and Palin......when they turned out to be correct.

Corporations are not people? Then what are they? Cattle? We will remember your hostility towards corporations next time you defend unions who I suppose are not people either. By the way, the SCOTUS says you are wrong.

i have been very unhappy with the republican party..except the conservatives...they like the dims and media are highy critical of LEE CRUZ etc..and the tea party ...all we want is finacial sanity for our children and grand children..we want freedom to make choices on healthcare, etc....our totalitarian govt is not going to grant either of these or is acting in a very unconstitutional manner...but i'll hold my nose for 1 or 2 election cycle and vote for the lesser of 2 evils..the republicans..for the team...hopefully they will surprise me and make decisions that will turn this course of destruction..if they dont ...its the end of the nation and the republican party...for we conservatives are feed up and ready to leave ......its an upside down world now...my wife and i raised 4 great kids..paid a bunch of taxes...worked ....supported charties... believe in individual freedoms, hard work, christian principles and paying your bills...nothing radical but somehow we are the new anarchist and terriorist...but in the future i will refuse to be blamed by them that want my vote and not represent me..and mock me...

Oh....you mean the Social Security and Medicare for which the government FORCIBLY took her money for 40 or so years and for which she would have been stupid not to try and get some of it back.....even though if she had been allowed to keep her money and invest it for 40 years she would have been much better off financially.

Good one Bod....irrelevant as usual but nice try at diversion from the ACTUAL subject. Does spewing all of that bile give you like a sore throat or bad breath or anything?

I agree as most Republicans agree that this country's governments spend TOO MUCH!! What I have a problem with is that the majority of Republicans see The NSA as very intrusive to our freedoms when we Democrats thought you'all were ALL FOR the security of the nation!! Go figure!!

T3...did you miss the Supreme Court ruling that stated that corporations ARE people? Do you believe that unions are not people as well?

And you DO realize that the people in a corporation are subject to the same laws as everyone else. Bod's rant is nothing more than that....a rant....devoid of facts or truth.

First, it is Friday and I have started CELEBRATING just a little early!! Is for holding PEOPLE accountable, I would agree that The POTUS and The U.S. Attorney General should be held accountable!! However, this line of thought would encriminate my favorite president (John Kennedy) and Johnson and Nixon for their orders during Veitnam.

I was with you

I was with you until you took my ability to choose my candidate. So, your idea of a good future is to have a republican only government? If you want less government in you life you must not work for the government. Lots of republicans say that until their project or pool of supporters are threatened with loss of tax payer supported jobs.... hummm kinda of makes you wanta say Huuugggghhh?? The future of our country is not in the hands of the wealthy. I think we have proven that the trickle down prosperity doesn't work. When the concentration of wealth is so narrow you can bet your booty you will come looking for a democrat to save you...The Party Of Lincoln is not the answer. The two party system is intended to make choice possible.
