Who will pay the freight?

  • Follow Letters

The Congressional Budget Office predicts that 2.3 million people who used to have full-time jobs will choose to cut back to 35-hour part-time jobs to receive government subsidies to purchase health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. How much longer will we have people paying taxes to subsidize Obamacare if no one is working full-time jobs?

President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, et al., think they simply need to keep raising taxes to pay for all of the government “handouts” – i.e., welfare; food stamps; continued unemployment benefits; and bailouts to various failed private industries, “green energy” corporations, that file bankruptcy!

When a majority of Americans no longer work full-time jobs, who will pay the taxes to support the government?

three Richmond County schools had 0 kids pass an AP exam

last year... 0 kids
and Butler and Josey haven't passed one for 3 years!
they won't be paying any "freight"
and similar school districts around the country report similar results
this is racism on a level never before experience in our country
and uneducated people cannot survive without handouts from people who work
historians will one day wonder why we let this happen
racists have taken over the democratic party
and are educating their future voters in a manner that helps the democratic party
0 kids passed an AP test

Obama, with the help of

Obama, with the help of Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, will be slashing the military back to pre-WWII levels;

6 trillion of additional debt in 5 years;
11 percent unemployment, adjusted for those not seeking employment;
30 percent increase in food stamp recipients;
increases in disability applications;
gas prices at the highest levels in history;
and for those lucky enough to have disposable income to invest, the stock market is surging, , , only because the federal reserve is propping it up infusing 77 billion dollars a month into the banking system.
And then there is Obamacare........

So, who benefits from this kind of economy? Not the working family, not the middle class, not those who venture off into small business.

This model is a classic third world model made for the rich elite. Soon there will be only two classes of people the poor and the very rich.

Goodbye middle class. . . . And it goes on and on and on.

Here's a math lesson...

Here's a math lesson: When the moochers out number the producers, the country is doomed.

We are rapidly approaching that point under this girlie man president.

"Can you all see the train coming?"

Yeah, it's coming and it's coming fast. Unfortunately, Nell is tide to the tracks and Snidely Whiplash is standing there with his telephone and his pen, gleefully holding off rescue attempts by Dudley Do-Right.

Unless Rocky and Bullwinkle wake up and get to the polls in November, little Nell is a goner.

"When the moochers out number

"When the moochers out number the producers, the country is doomed."

Oh, I think we are way passed that point already. Between the moochers and the moocher sympathizers and enablers, it's all over but the announced date of the collapse. We already owe more than we are worth and there is not any growth in the economy to fix it. When our enemies finally decide that we are no longer a good credit risk and they stop buying our worthless bonds, there will be blood in the streets. The inflation is going to be horrible and will make Jimmy Carters administration look like the good old days.

"Yeah, boss, I was working 40

"Yeah, boss, I was working 40 hours a week, but now I'm cutting back to 35 so that I can get subsidies. And even though you need somebody 40 hours per week, that won't be me, but I know you won't mind. You can pick up my slack."

Oh sure, as if an employer is going to agree to THAT?

localguy, my husband and I

localguy, my husband and I are hardly the rich elite- but we have investments.

You know why? Because we don't lead a lavish lifestyle, we don't throw money away on stupid stuff, we don't shop at the mall, we don't blow money on overpriced restaurant meals. We don't drink or smoke, either. We don't live in a big house, we don't drive fancy cars.

And we have investments even with enormous medical bills and with me on disability for the last 20 years.

We know the difference between wants and needs. And most of what people think that they need, they don't.

Other people can do what we do- they just choose not to.

The middle class has done this to themselves.

What was middle class in the 50's and 60's is now considered "poor"- and they aren't, it's people's expectations that have changed.

Toot, toot, toot the Obama

Toot, toot, toot the Obama train has derailed and done run off a cliff. Oh what's that I see coming down the track at supersonic speed. The GOP train full of Congressmen to replace Dems for a Rep majority in both houses. It's like a no-brainer. Since Obama is legally using executive orders but abusing the game like Arthur Chu on Jeopardy, you can bet a majority Rep in Congress will counter. Should prove interesting.

cogi, You make a good point...

Cogi, You make a good point about the employee going to his boss and voluntarily wanting to cut back on his work hours. The Democrats talk about people being able to decide on their own that they can cut back on the hours as if the boss is going to let them. It's almost like they think some boss is going to let the person split the job between the current employee and a new one coming onboard as the "splitee".

This attitude just shows how little the Democrats know about the working world.

Bravo for you...

It such a pity that the middle class has screwed themselves up by working hard and raising kids; paying mortgages and attempting better themselves.

Meanwhile the good ol government in the kindness of their hearts, has raised taxes of all sorts, so that they could give it to those really needy people, like the ones at the end of Telfair St.

And is such a good thing our beloved government refuses to drill our own oil so we can buy that good expensive Middle eastern oil. After all everyone can afford 3.25 per gal. gas.

Oh and those spend free middle class people, they are just getting what they deserve. Yea, they spent it all on crazy things like food and gas and electricity, it's no wonder they don't have anything to invest.

Yep, your right crgimom, it's the middle classes fault for all the ills of the world.

Well, I do need a smart phone

Well, I do need a smart phone for my work. And it just got more necessary today. So that is not open to someone's judgment call or opinion.

And we do have a smaller flat screen we had to buy after lightning took out a former TV. The particular replacement was recommended by a former poster who had expertise.

On the bright side

we are now free from "job-lock". We can spend time with our kids and grandkids huddled around a campfire for heat and cooking (until outdoor and fireplace burning is outlawed). We can share stories of the way America used to be, and our Grands will listen in jaw dropped awe. On good days, we can encourage competition and striving for success, while our progeny think us crazed.

localguy, I, too worked hard

localguy, I, too worked hard and raised a child. I also pay a mortgage and worked very, very hard to better myself, so I don't see what your point is. I came from nothing, and started out with nothing, and I do mean NOTHING.

I just know the value of a dollar and don't throw it away on stupid stuff. Because I also know that you can't stop time, and sooner or later, people have to retire, and all that stuff that they just HAD to have, all of a sudden, they can't afford- and they survive quite nicely without it.
