Obama's term a disaster

  • Follow Letters

Without the Republican House blocking him, President Obama would be free to carry out his wish list of totalitarian policies.

It is now clear what Obama meant when he said he was going to “transform” America. He meant that he was going to use the full power of the state to enforce his utopian views on the country. Without a single Republican vote, Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi forced Obamacare on the country.

It mandates what the health care insurance companies must offer as coverage. It then mandates that every U.S. citizen must buy one of the polices whether they want one or can afford it. It then uses the full force of the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Health and Human Services to enforce those mandates.

This scheme is designed to redistribute wealth by force on a national scale by taking it from the young and giving it to the old, and taking it from the healthy and giving it to the unhealthy.

Furthermore, Obamacare authorizes more than 100 boards and commissions, accountable apparently to no one, that will regulate seemingly every facet of our lives, and our deaths, since everything we do as individuals affects our health and wellness. Total control is the goal of this totalitarian regime, and if Obamacare survives as a law, he has achieved his objective.

A recent Miami Herald article obviously supports all the anti-small-business policies of the Obama regime, such as higher taxes; increases in the minimum wage; tighter Environmental Protection Agency regulations; Obamacare; and a de facto open-borders bill being pushed in the Senate. Small business is the primary source of new jobs. Obama ignores this.

His arrogance and disastrous policies have produced the poorest recovery from a recession in history.

Don't forget, He and the democrats can delay ANY part of the ACA that might hurt them during elections!! He can just wave his magic wand (Pen) and make aspects of the ACA go away!! Especially until AFTER a crucial election!!

Quit crying. If the republicants would have participated and worked with democrats it could have been done differently. The "disaster" is the do nothing attitude coming from the republicans. They seen to throw a few tax incentives around here and there solves the problem of people not having health insurance. The ACA actually doesn't go far enough- it should be a full National Healthcare Service.

impending carnage

Obama and the democrats are like an Arsonists, they set a fire and walk away to watch, at a distance, the carnage unfold. Obama will be out of office by the time the full effect of Obama care goes into affect and many democrats are retiring after passing this obama-nation of a Law.

The aftermath of what Obama and the democraps have done to this nation will be total devastation to our way of life, just what whey wanted.

Excellent letter Mr. Dean. 30 years ago nobody would have believed the country would elect a man as president with the ideology of destruction of American principles as Obama.

It came about really as a perfect storm. Democrats by telling many lies in the campaign season of 2007-08 were able to convince an uninformed public to elect them and thereby giving total control over both houses of Congress. Then couple that with a chrismatic slickster in Obama, a lapdog media, and we end up with total leftist ideology beyond anything imaginable in both the legislative and executive branches.

So many wanted to be part of history in electing Obama that they did not look beneath the veneer of "hope and change" to see what was below the bark in the heart of the tree of radicalism.

As far as Miami goes, I heard it described as Cuba without the dictator. If one looks at the culture of where the influx of immigrates to Miami came from one will see how rooted they are in centralized, take-care-of-me government and are panting for leaders like Obama and his irk. California is suffering the same thing from Mexican immigrants. The relative few who truly want freedom and liberty are far out weighed by the moochers thereby diluting the American culture far beyond what was intended by the Founders.

Big Question?

Are we just going to sit back and let this happen or are we going to do something other than Rant & Rave. The Hammer & Sickle Man Constitution is not what America was Founding on.

If one Liberal was to lose just one of their freebee's, they would be in the streets rioting and killing. We, as True Americans have lost our Constitution, freedom and the future lives of our childeren and doing not a damn thing. Let do something even if it is a 1775!!!!!!

Republican Party Are Looking More Like The Dinosaur,Extinct.

The House of Representatives has raised the debt limit on a vote of 221- 201, avoiding the economic catastrophe that would have resulted if the United States had been forced to default on its debt. All but two Democrats voted for the measure. They were joined by 199 Republicans who favored default. The measure had no strings attached, marking the death of the Boehner Rule, which House Speaker John Boehner had defined as the idea that Congress should not raise the debt limit without cutting spending by the same amount. Ironically, Biehner himself voted for the clean debt bill, proving that he was bluffing all along, but the vast majority of his caucus voted against raising the debt ceiling - a position that would have forced default. Politically, the lesson here is clear: Republican debt limit extortion is DEAD because President Obama and Democrats took a principled position in favor a clean increase and stuck to it in unwavering fashion. Yes, they screwed up in 2011 when debt limit negotiations led to sequestration, but to their credit, the president and congressional Democrats learned from their mistake and refused to repeat it. The net result isn't just a Democrat political win for our side of the aisle, it's a win for the country, which will be spared the absurd fiscal brinksmanship forced on us by Republicans. There's no question that it's pathetic that this is something to be happy about(back when the president was named George Bush, there wrte 19 clean debt limit hikes), but given how Republicans have attempted to wield power, it is nonetheless worth celebrating- not just because we avoided disaster this time, but because Democrats held their ground on something important and because Republicans have finally publicly acknowledged that the debt limit is not a source of leverage, it's dead.

There is one glimmer of hope left. I think many voters are waking up as to who Obama actually is and what he is doing to this country. The elections in November will let us know for sure if our hope is in vain.

She portrayed herself as incompetent, ignorant, and not worrhy to be Vice-President" Your statement is revisionist history. The press presented her this way. Give me one example of her being "incompetent, ignorant." The main stream media repeated statements over and over about a statement she supposedly made about her being able to see Russia from her house as proof she was ignorant. The only problem is that she never made that statement. Once again it is obvious you get your news from these sources. Who is ignorant?

I didn't need the media to

I didn't need the media to tell me anything, I saw the Katie Couric interview. She was awful. She was beyond awful. Perhaps you didn't see it, it did her so much damage and she never was able to overcome it. It was painful to watch, she was so bad. As soon as I saw that interview, I said, "McCain just lost the election."

And then her ridiculous statement about "You know, moms just know when things aren't right." We are talking about someone who wanted to be elected as Vice-President of the US!

Do you ever see any male Presidential candidate say anything like that? Does that sound like someone that world leaders would respect? Does that sound like someone who could be the next President of the US?

She did it to herself, and she has nobody else to blame but herself. And the main-stream media didn't have to do anything.

The press didn't portray her like that, she did it all on her own.

And you are the one who is bringing up the Russia quote. I didn't, I heard what she said, and yes, I know she didn't say that. That's not why I say she portrayed herself as ignorant.

So no, it is NOT obvious that I "get my news from these sources."

higher taxes; (on the rich, yes) increases in the minimum wage; (for all those dishwashers who deserve a raise) tighter Environmental Protection Agency regulations; (oil in the drinking water, coal sludge in pristine rivers, yea, I like an aggressive EPA) Obamacare (opportunity for millions and the actual COST of medical insurance is being distributed to ALL participants, no special clauses, WE are all charged according to the actuaries)

And then she brought out her

And then she brought out her book.

I enjoy reading biographies and autobiographies of Presidents and their families, and the candidates. I thought, Ok, now she can redeem herself. Here's her chance to finally shine.

That book was terrible. It was written on a fourth-grade level. I couldn't even finish it, it was so poorly written.

I was expecting a scholarly, thoughtful, well-written book.

It is anything else but that.

And, just for the record, I felt the same way about Obama's book, Dreams of my Father. That was terrible, too.

if ever there was a case in the DSM 5, she provides the evidence. It would fall under the delusional categories. Celebrity Egoism seems a proper diagnosis due to the exhibited behavior, definitely contagious as is seen by its prevalence in the media.

If it is possible for someone's dumb comments to cost them an election, then there is NO WAY Obama and Biden would have EVER gotten elected. 57 states? Navy CORPES man, intercontinental railroad, special Olympics, big effin deal. The list goes on and on. So there clearly is no way that saying dumb things keeps anyone from getting elected. It must be something else.

"She portrayed herself as incompetent, ignorant, and not worrhy to be Vice-President, or even worse, President."

And Obama did what during His first campaign? LIE!! That's what!! Say that Bush was unpatriotic to run up the debt, yet look what he is doing!! I won't even bother with more of his lies!! You claim she showed herself to be ignorant, but he LIED THROUGH HIS TEETH, on just about everything!! Which is better?

""You know, moms just know when things aren't right." We are talking about someone who wanted to be elected as Vice-President of the US! "

And??? Do you know that SCIENTISTS concur with this?

Maybe not 30 years ago; but I believe approximately 238 years ago, they knew EXACTLY that this would happen!! That's why they did their BEST to establish a Constitution to protect from this!! But communism is finding ways to circumvent, even the Constitution!! If they can't completely ban firearms, they will make it almost impossible to own them or buy ammunition!!

Patrick Henry was probably our greatest allie for our rights!! He fought HARD against even other founders, to make SURE there was a Bill of Rights in the Constitution!! The Bill of Rights was NOT in the orginal Constitution and he refused to allow it!! He KNEW the kind of tyranny that could come without it!!
