Replace Graham with Cash

  • Follow Letters

Looking around the room at the North Augusta Community Center on Feb. 8, I saw people who helped put Lindsey Graham in the U.S. House and now U.S. Senate. These same paying attendees – about 250 – were gathered to hear Richard Cash present himself as the Republican candidate to replace Graham.

I knew many of the people I saw in attendance from both Edgefield and Aiken counties. The fervor to replace Graham is evident when people pack a room on a Saturday, giving up precious personal time. They heard Cash deliver a strong, biblically based and constitutionally based speech you would never hear Graham give.

Cash was the first to announce his candidacy against Graham in the upcoming June Republican primary. Cash is known by all as a strong Christian and family man, having started two successful businesses in the upstate of South Carolina. He graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in economics from Furman University.

Never having held office before, he shocked the political establishment by placing first in the 2010 Republican primary among several candidates when Gresham Barrett vacated his U.S. House seat. Richard barely lost the eventual runoff to the current seat holder, U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan.

Richard Cash unabashedly talks about the “three Cs” in his platform – Christianity, capitalism and the Constitution. He has my support to replace Lindsey Graham!
