Nation's future at stake

Our two-party system naturally creates an adversarial relationship between the opposing sides.

Many people wrongly believe that the party in power, once elected, should be allowed to pass any legislation they desire. Not so! Our system of government was created with the intention to make it difficult to pass legislation without long and arduous discussion and debate.

Progressive (liberal/socialist) Democrats, who never seem to consider the ramifications of their actions, appear governed entirely by their emotions. A prime example is the nightmare now before us – the (Un)Affordable Care Act.

When it became law, there were not enough thoughtful people in Congress to stand in effective opposition. So, Democrats willed it upon us and shoved it down our collective throats, whether we wanted it or not!

Whenever a progressive Democrat is in a decision-making position, you can certainly believe decisions will be made only with the politically correct view in mind, and how the decision will play to their constituents, rather than asking whether it’s the right thing to do for the country. We hear talk of a “do-nothing Congress,” but it would be chilling if sycophant Democrats and this administration were to get all they wished for!

We will absolutely cease to exist as the America we have known – simply because of a government seeking total dominance, and the party in power willing to govern against the will of the people. We are well on the way to becoming a police state, with our constitutional rights disappearing or being overridden.

This administration is lawless, while congressional Democrats applaud and protect! They both show contempt for the American people, in that they continuously and brazenly lie to achieve and protect their agenda.

Our fate is that we either will (a) fall or (b) rise up and dismiss the socialist dictators from power. The election cycle in 2014 is crucial to the future of the country.

instead of playing defense

conservatives should go on the offensive
and support full school choice
and use the greatest civil right known to the modern man
that of a good free education, free of political distortion
there are racists in our midst, and conservatives are our last best hope to rid ourselves of them
our inner cities are basically separate third world nations
being maintained with our tax money
with school choice, the colonialists lose their base
and our future could quite possibly be saved
why do you think the demos oppose it so?

I agree ymnbde. However, when

I agree ymnbde. However, when conservatives regain power, and they will soon and liberals fear this the most, they should shove conservatism down the throats of the liberal democrat Marxist, just as they have been shoving Marxism down conservative throats.

To hell with what the liberal media, unions, and the moochers think. When the time comes and conservatives are in control, there better not be any of this reaching across the isle in co-operation with the dems. They are the enemy of Freedom and Liberty and we should treat them as such. No compromise what so ever, and publicly berate them ever chance we get, just as they do with conservative.

We should never forget who these people are....and if you are not sure who they are, read about: Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Jong-il, Idi Amin, Hugo Chávez, Castro, Nicolae Ceausescu, Muammar Qaddafi. All were or are collectivist of some sort or another, cut from the same cloth and espousing the virtues of socialism, Marxism, communism. Leftist ideology.....contemporary Liberal ideology.....

Once again Mr Smock has written a...

Once again Mr Smock has written a letter that well explains some of the problems facing us today.

Local guy is right on what the Republicans should do when they regain power; however, we all remember how "fair and accommodating" the Republicans were when Sen Fisk was Senate Majority Leader and wanted the committees to have co-chairmen of Republicans and Democrats because the Republican majority was so slim. Why is it we always want to play "nice" and be liked when the other side wants to tear your guts out?

The Republicans (at least the Conservative part) are the liberty party and the Democrats are the party of wealth distribution.

Liberals/progressives are always chasing/"progressing" toward Utopia by telling people there is a finite amount of resources and they, the statists, being the most intelligent of the populace, are the ones to lead them to Utopia.

Why is it that every country taken over by the Marxists/ Socialist of this irk we have in power now ends up allocating self-induced scarce resources? The country then becomes backward in every respect--culturally and technologically-- and the new "Utopia" sinks in the muck of "progressivism". One only has to look at Venzuela as a recent example.

A society's goal should be creating more even if the distribution will be unfair, but the goal of the left is different--redistributing the finite amount of goods "fairly" rather than growing. You see, the liberals would rather be "fair" with a finite amount of goods rather than ''unfair" with an infinite growth.

The heart of liberalism/progressivism is a deep fear of people and progress because it will cause them the loss of their power to control the populace through redistribution.

A “Liberal Paradise” would be

A “Liberal Paradise” would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment,
free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing, free
clothing, free utilities, and only Law Enforcement has guns.
And believe it or not, such a place does indeed exist …… …It’s called prison.

Rep could turn around if they

Rep could turn around if they dropped any social reforms and just concentrated on creating jobs, more wealth for everyone, reducing our national debt. If they would just do that they would likely have greater appeal-take an oath to leave that crap alone. Dems have greater appeal because they are so socially liberal-which is funny how Rep want all this freedom in the free market but socially are restrictive. They should be more consistent with freedoms-and support guns and gay marriage-realize the compromises of freedoms.

The Democrats and liberals

The Democrats and liberals aren't afraid of conservatives, they know that they outnumber them. And with the demographics of America changing as they are, they know that they don't have too much to worry about.

I don't see this "deep fear", nobody else does either.

corgi, you are correct, the class warfare and racism spread by the community organizer to low IQ voters is working. The moochers are starting to outnumber the workers.

Snow White, Superman and

Snow White, Superman and Pinocchio are out for a stroll in town one day.
As they walk, they come across a sign. "Beauty contest for the most beautiful
Woman in the world."

"I'm entering" said Snow White.
After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya do?"

"First Place," said Snow White.
They continue walking and they see a sign, "Contest for the strongest
Man in the world."

"I'm entering," says Superman.

After half an hour he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?"

"First Place," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?"

They continue walking when they see a sign, "Contest! Who is the
Greatest liar in the world?"

Pinocchio says "this is mine"

Half an hour later, he returns with tears in his eyes.

"What happened?" they asked.

"Who the hell is Obama?" asked Pinocchio
