Country reaches new ebb

  • Follow Letters

The current administration tries to paint a rosy picture of the State of the Union, but there are reasons why this country is at a low.

First, this administration ignores the rule of law, thereby creating uncertainty. It takes maturity and experience to actually talk to people to reach agreements, but this president thinks by unilaterally governing from the executive branch, he can force Congress’ hand or make its members be perceived as the bad guys.

Second, biased, left-leaning media refuse to expose the whole truth. We have the Affordable Care Act today because the mainstream media failed to do its job and report the truth about the law when they had the chance.

Third, the economic policies and regulatory climate of this administration focuses on aggressive redistribution of wealth. The president tries to disguise this movement with words such as “fairness” and “equality,” but we all know it’s really socialism – a system that has been tried repeatedly and has failed, because people do not strive for success if they know there’s no reward. The result is low productivity and mediocrity, and it keeps businesses from hiring and expanding.

Fourth, the negative rhetoric coming out of the White House and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have done nothing but advance the partisan and dysfunctional behavior in our government. They criticize the right for doing nothing in one breath, and then double down on name-calling in the next breath – then expect cooperation. The result is that Congress either gets nothing done or the right comes off as obstructionists for trying to be the adults in the room.

Fifth, this administration’s foreign policy has no clear direction and just seems to bend with the wind. This is what happens when you have an administration that lacks maturity and experience, and mainstream media that don’t expose the truth.

Frank Chandler

When you're in college, you

When you're in college, you pay attention to facts, you have people holding you accountable for getting them right. We'll, in the face of right - wing extremists in Congress trying to convince the American people that Obamacare is tanking the economy - and refusing to offer concrete help, like extending emergency unemployment benefits. If Obamacare is tanking the economy, then someone forgot to tell the economy that. Just look at the facts.

•In Jan 2009 the Dow was at 7,949.
Now it's above 16,000.

•GDP " growth" was actually negative,
-54%. Today it's over 4%.

•Unemployment has gone down,from
7.8% to 7.0%.

• The deficit as a share of GDP has gone
down by nearly two thirds, from 9.8%
to 3.3%.
You'd never hear a Republican say the deficit is actually shrinking. But we should all be repeating the facts that show that over the past few years, our economy has slowly but surely been pulled out of the ditch.

modernist colonialism

historical colonialism has been vilified by our academic elite
but the demos main source of votes, the inner city
is composed of, primarily, a third world country
judging by crime rates, poverty rates, and illiteracy rates
(and all the rest.
.. unwed mothers, unsupervised children...)
and the "vanguard elite" (google that, and Lenin) are their overseers
differing from Idi Amin and Nkrumah only in the sheer amount of deaths
(there were more children murdered in Chicago last year
than in school shootings over the country for many years combined)
for such men are always secretly ruled by "others"
Marxism is only workable for such a structure, and such a people
and our university professors are the caretakers and guardians and promoters of such a people
the democrats would have no power if they did not practice
modern colonialism
all the "good" statistics about America come from outside our inner cities, proving capitalism works so well that it can support many third world city-states

7. Gas prices at the end of 2008 was 1.74 per gal. it is now over 3.00 per gal. with no end in sight. (eia.gov)

8. People Not In Labor Force Soar To Record 91.8 Million down to 1978 levels. So much for the unemployment numbers.

9. National debt at the end of the Bush presidency $10.626 trillion. National debt under Obama at the end of 5 years $17.5 trillion.(cbsnews.com)

Well, if unemployment is down, then someone forgot to tell the unemployed. Just look at the facts. Lowest labor participation rate since Carter.

Obama's play on words-when he

Obama's play on words-when he talks about decreasing the deficit he isn't talking about our national debt but reducing his deficit spending-reduce it from over a trillion a year to 700-500 billion overspending. Wow thanks. Of course it should be a balanced budget but Dems like to screw you and tell you it's all good-just like Obamacare.

Funny how in the same post someone says "and refusing to offer concrete help, like extending emergency unemployment benefits. " and then brags that the unemployment rate is doing so well. Is it doing better, or is it an emergency? Make up your mind.

Excellent thought out and cogent letter Mr Chandler. Every point is right on target and well understood by those who are informed of the actual record of Obama and his cult following.

•In Jan 2009 the Dow was at 7,949.
Now it's above 16,000.

Well, if you pump $85 billion a month of funny money into the economy the stock market will go up.....but employment has not, household income has not, and in fact we are worse off.

•GDP " growth" was actually negative,
-54%. Today it's over 4%.

Actually about 3.2% and that is a Christmas fluke. It's really around 2% to 2.5%

•Unemployment has gone down,from
7.8% to 7.0%.

Actually, due to those who have dropped out of the labor force the real unemployment rate is still over 11%.

• The deficit as a share of GDP has gone
down by nearly two thirds, from 9.8%
to 3.3%.

And the reason for that is only because we had a Republican Congress. If the Democrats had total control there would have been an increase. And it's still nowhere near the reductions in spending that we need. We have a $17.5 TRILLION dollar debt that we have to BORROW MORE MONEY just to pay the INTEREST. NOT ONE DIME BEING PAID ON THE PRICIPAL. AND IT'S GROWING AT OVER A TRILLION A YEAR. We are totally insane. The world knows that OUR future is not rosy enough to support that kind of credit. Higher interest rates and possibly nobody buying our bonds will come soon.
