Let Democrats take lead

  • Follow Letters

Not that long ago, Republicans, the corporate media and centrist Democrats were locked together in an unholy alliance that was pushing the Wall Street agenda on the entire country. It seemed like we only heard one thing from Washington: that we needed to reduce the deficit, and that hard-working Americans would have to pay the price.

Now, things have changed. The Democrats are talking about the need for real banking reform and the need to expand Social Security. Democrats led the fight to reform the Senate, and thanks to Democrats President Obama can now do his job and appoint the federal judges who have sat waiting for confirmation.

The House of Representatives in Congress has failed to get anything done, but voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare, so it’s time to let the Democrats take the lead.

David Hankerson

I agree, let them have their time! But we will spend 10 years or more, fixing this!!

Also, the problem is that no matter how miserably their policies fail, democrats REFUSE to take credit for anything!! Just like the liberal policies that crashed the housing market, brought to us by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Did they take the blame for this? Nope!!! They are LIARS and will find a way to blame republicans, no matter how absurd it is. Republicans aren't much better, but at least they stand on a better moral foundation!!

"...but voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare..."

Congress returns today and that might be 49 times by weeks' end, but who's counting?

I WILL BE COUNTING how many days they work per week. For a body that accuses the unemployed of getting lazy if UI benefits are extended, these folks should "back up to the pay desk" at the end of the month.

This 113th Congress the House

This 113th Congress the House introduced 121 bills, the Senate introduced 26 bills. Not a single bill introduced by the House was related to repeal of the ACA. There were 32 bills that became law. That voting to repeal the ACA is just political rhetoric for votes-the Dems have done the same thing in the past (like trying to defund the war in Iraq)-voting on topics that have no chance of passing. Why make a big deal of such posturing when both parties do it?

Unfortunately there is no

Unfortunately there is no chance or repealing the ACA so Americans will be stuck with another huge entitlement program like Social security and Medicare. I predict a dramatic increase in health care rating of the US because of this move towards universal health care, but within five years we will drop below our present rating because the health care will be so poor here and the general health of most americans will decline. Wealthy Americans will be going to other countries seeking better health care.

The house voted 48 times

But has the Senate, which controlled by Social Democrats like Obama & Reid, been allowed any vote on any of those House bills?

If they think it is so great and well loved, what is their reason for not allowing a Vote in the senate?

Again who has blocked the US Constitutional process of voting on presented bills from the House.

So why is OK for Socialist Democrats to block the Constitutional process, but villainous for a Republican to follow
it?

Oh that's Right David, let the inmates not only run the asylum why not allow them to burn it to the ground as well. After all, they have done a pretty good job of looting the American coffer, dismantling the private sector employment structure, and taking away as many of our personal rights as possible.
The Republicans as impotent as they have shown themselves to be are the only thing standing in the way of the lunatics in the Senate and the White House.

Yes, the democrats version of "leadership" is to write a 2,500 page bill, and expect everyone to pass it, without reading it. Remember: "We have to pass it, before we know what's in it."-Democratic "Leader" Nancy Pelosi!!

I think this quote should go write up there with the quotes from the founding fathers. Such as "When the government fears the people, there is liberty, when the people fear the government, there is tyranny."

"Those who would give up essential liberties, for a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty, nor safety."

Who woulda thunk it, Nancy Pelosi with the wisdom of the Founding Fathers!!

Shrink

From David Hankerson's letter:

The Democrats are talking about . . . the need to expand Social Security.

Huh? The last I heard the Democrats were talking about means testing Social Security. That means if you have a little money in the bank, you will get less in Social Security monthly payments than you were originally promised. That sounds like the Democrats are for shrinking Social Security, not expanding it.

Another lie Little Lamb, their rhetoric is to preserve social security, but that isn't true at all. Only a minority of Dems want to expand the benefits.

I have said a dozen times

the Democrat Party has been Co-opted.

It has been neutralized by its very own mistake of assimilation of fringe groups.

These fringe groups have gained positions of authority within the Democrat Party and now steer it directions in direct contrast to normal social American values..

Teaparty,

Do you mean just as the Nazi party taking seats in the German Reichstag in 1933. How Ironic to see so many Americans become mesmerized by the allure of gifts taken from others; especially those who lived through that period of time.... Here Adam, go on and take of bite of the apple and everything will be fine.

We let the Democrats lead and

We let the Democrats lead and they destroyed our health care system, tripled the cost of health care insurance, tripled the deductibles, and tripled the copays. They've doubled the debt, kept the "REAL" unemployment rate at over 11%, doubled the amount of spending on food stamps, and want to continue to pay people not to work. I'll NEVER vote for a communist Democrat.....and ALL Democrats are communists.

The Republicans can run Dick Dastardly and the Democrats run Mother Teresa and I'll be voting for Dastardly.

Yes.
Now is that a defense of Congress?
Notice that I didn't point fingers at either party___Congress means both parties, so I find your response a little puzzling as you normally defend the GOP.

Presidential Vacation

And he works, WHEN ?? And if we're not spending millions on his vacations, we're spending it on Michelle's and the girls. Really? Our President is untruthful. Our President is arrogant. Our President once again signed an Executive Order, rather than letting Democracy work. He has once again taken a shot on gun control. Our President IS good at taking "selfies" with blonde Prime Ministers. If ACA was such a great piece of legislation, then why give all of the exemptions to the Unions and others?? ACA will put some hospitals out of business. Is this a good thing? I don't think so.

If democrats win it's because all the non-working people will support their gravy train-not because of policy or ideology-just I want to eat and have my free health care. By presidential election it will be workers vs non-workers because he will push wealth redistribution which affects all working people especially middle-middle class and up. Obama will spend the next year demonizing anyone who has any income over 80K so he can rationalize stealing from them.

If democrats win it's because all the non-working people will support the party that does not demonize them by accusing them of being "lazy moochers" as many conservatives on this forum have done. The fact that this writer believes more people would rather be dependent on the government than be independent with a job is sickening.

What belief=it's empirically

What belief=it's empirically obvious from the number of people who have quit looking for a job. If you quit lookin' you definitely will not find one. I'm not stating all are moochers-perhaps hapless political victims, pawns of the state, etc.
I'm not a conservative. I support abortion, gay marriage, etc. just fiscally conservative and like small govt. I don't want govt doing certain things because they are inept. The govt doesn't know how to help the poor, reduce poverty (it's increased under Obama's policies) or address this problem. Our political system doesn't provide solutions just political compromise or points with often counter productive hamstrings.
