Plan's claims untruthful

  • Follow Letters

The Federal Trade Commission is assigned to enforce a law commonly known as “truth in advertising.” This law is designed to protect all consumers from products advertised by any means – television, print, Internet. etc. The FTC is to look at all products to confirm the validity of their claims, whether truthful or not. The entirety of its jurisdiction is from cars to fine print in funeral agreements. Its total focus is to protect the consumer.

After the FTC has determined that fraud or mistruths are present, they file in federal court to immediately and permanently stop the scam. Compensation often is sought for those hurt, along with an assurance to stop any future advertising of the product and distribution of the product through the freezing of assets.

Our government has entered a new arena with Obamacare and its mandated enforcement to buy a product. Before, the government has made promises – no taxes, employment, etc. – but never has had a product designed by government to be purchased. And this product, through legitimate means, was advertised and therefore, I believe, should be regulated and monitored by the FTC. It is a product with multiple claims, now proved completely false. And through our government’s records, there was a record of cover-up that would have and should have resulted in criminal actions against the advertisers of this product because of its outright fraud in its claims.

The FTC should immediately step in and stop Obamacare as a violation of truth in advertising. The Justice Department also should step in and look at laws concerning monopolies in the marketplace. If our laws do not apply to our government and its employees, then truly we have a two-class society – the ruling elites who write the laws, and the rest of us who have to abide by them.

When laws are not equally applied, the people should rise up. From our Founding Fathers through the civil rights movement, it’s our birthright.

Well Congress gets a 75%

Well Congress gets a 75% subsidy so the law stays affordable to them! We already have a two tier system!

it's like we sold the world's greatest health care system

for a few shiny trinkets and beads
having more doctors is the only thing that would fixed the flaws
of our health care system
and to have more doctors we must improve our education system
and the only way to improve education
is with school choice

I don't know if education is

I don't know if education is the solution or problem. It's difficult to get through college without being indoctrinated into socialism and liberalism. Basically brainwashing like they like to accuse Christians of doing. Heck I bought into too in my youth as I thought Marxism a Star Trek utopian ideal, and had disdain for conservatives (they teach that too). I was also taught all "spirituality" was based on myths and that man has evolved past this falsehood-boy was I wrong on that one.

Bizkit, I was idealistic in

Bizkit, I was idealistic in my youth but not very well brain washed. I worked in the real world and understood the problems of socialism (people sitting on their Burt's while others shouldered their load. Even Obamabots welfare queen aunt (gee maybe Obama could be as generous to his family as he thinks we should be to the welfare cheats) thinks some one needs to look after her.

"The tree of liberty, must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Are you suggesting that citizens of this country take up arms and overthrow the current government in power by force?

Yes Sean,

explain the Shameless attitude of the thousands & thousands of True Americans who have fought and died protecting this great nation from falling under of control of foreign Socialist/Communist governments.

We have at this time in our own Homeland that same threat under an AL-Qaeda plant and his Liberal Army.

I know there are many still True Americans that would not hesitate to give there life to save this falling nation. I would rather give my life knowing that at least I tried preventing our children, their children and future children's from becoming a slave of a tyrant government.

Right now, those that we have elected to protect our Constitution are far from being patriots Americans and insuring that we remain a free country.

I believe a 1775 repeat is our only hope. I never dream in my 73 years that I would feel like this. Sad, Really Sad!

"Are you suggesting that citizens of this country take up arms and overthrow the current government in power by force?"

That is literally how poorly they understand the history and provisions of the Affordable Care Act, as well as apparently anything in general, that they will passive-agressively advocate murdering the President to reinforce their voluntary ignorance.

The Augusta Chronicle comments are...

...enabled for a robust but respectful conversation, not for personal attacks or harassment of others.

Except in cases of treason or threats of presidential assassination, because let's face it, there's a reason it's called the White House! Am I right, guys?

It's honestly just sad to see this kind of discussion on the Chronicle.

It's sad for Augusta, it's sad for journalism, and it's sad for America.

What are you talking about? Who has called for a Presidential assassination?? Are you just talking to yourself or what?

It's quite clear, that you and Fedex have no idea what that saying means. Probably, because you're on the other side of history!! It has nothing to do with the President but ALL leaders in general.

But regardless, just because you don't agree with it, does it make it any less true? History has shown us that HISTORY always repeats itself and that republics/democracies always destroy themselves!! Why? Because they ALLOW exactly what is going on now!! They allow strangers to devour their lands, bringing in foreign rules and laws!!

I will repeat this again and again "The tree of liberty, must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

When people begin to take for granted, the rights and freedoms they've been enjoying, then allow others to slowly take them away; it's probably time for them to HAVE TO FIGHT FOR THEM!! When you have to FIGHT for something, you will appreciate it!!

Yes, because it is painted white. The race card is worn out.
