The truth on Obamacare

  • Follow Letters

In response to Mr. Victor Reilly’s Nov. 22 letter “So just call it Romney care”:

Our resident, radical, super left-wing liberal maintains that Romney-care and Obamacare are basically the same. Romney-care was a Republican-sponsored law, so why do conservatives have a problem with Obamacare?

The Massachusetts law was supported by the people of the state, and they did not try to shove it down the entire nation’s throat.

The increase in Romney-care premiums are double the national average, and over half of the uninsured in 2009 remain uninsured. The people who did not qualify for subsidies did not sign up.

Mr. Reilly asked, “Whatever happened to facts and truth?”, then he says Medicaid and Medicare are “far better managed” than for-profit companies.

Apparently, he does not know that Medicare Fraud cost U.S. Taxpayers $60 billion a year.

Mr. Reilly states that “Massachusetts has had no problem switching to Obamacare.

The fact is that not one single person in the state is on Obamacare. They are exempt. All Massachusetts had to do is add a few required benefits and raise the premiums.

His biggest lie is that expanding state Medicaid would “hardly cost us a dime.” Lowell Greenbaum tells the same lie in his letter to the editor Nov. 25, “Deal refuses needed funds.”

The feds would pay 100 percent for three years and 90 percent the fourth year. The fourth year, Georgia would pay for 10 percent of the people receiving free Medicaid.

Even if it only cost $100 per month per person, the cost to Georgia taxpayers would be $72 million per year. A more reasonable estimate would be $300 to $400 per month, per person.

Hardly a dime? Whatever happened to facts and truth?

Mr. Reilly cites Mitch McConnell’s Kentucky as a fine example of Obamacare enrollment success. Our dear leader says “40,000 people enrolled in the ACA in the state of Kentucky.”

That’s a lie! The Department of Health and Human services reports 5,586 people enrolled. The other 35,000 went straight to free Medicaid (source: the Chronicle Nov. 24, HHS report).

I can only ask, “Whatever happened to facts and truth?”

John...

I love you, man. Now listen, you state facts and cite your sources thereby leaving the rabid left with nothing to do but call you names, post red herrings, and blame George Bush for something. Well done!

PS, they can also post some lies, pull numbers out of thin air, or post what they would like for the numbers (facts) to be.

John, An excellent letter. Most people do not...

John, An excellent letter. Most people do not understand that The Constitution gives the states more freedom than it does the federal government. The Constitution, much to the dismay of Obama, is designed to put shackles on the federal government.

Healthcare is not all that rosy in MA. The ER's continue to be maxed out. As a matter of fact some have been closed. Healthcare is rapidly becoming the largest line item in the state's budget.

As to the great medical program in KY, I have posted before that it does not allow for its coverage to be used outside the state. This is the same as saying someone living in North Augusta would not be covered if they were to take advantage of our great medical care in Augusta.

One thing that gets me about liberals is how they fail to research beyond what they are provided by their handlers.

Remember that Conservatives place their trust in the people to reshape government; whereas, liberals/statists/progressives place their trust in government to reshape the people.

Short Answer

The short answer to this question is that the current political culture views facts and truth as inconvenient obstacles to overcome, and they pay millions of dollars to professional liars, who call themselves "marketers" on their business cards, in order to overcome these obstacles. They avoid using facts and truth themselves in order to shape public perception in such a way as to be aware of nothing that exists outside their PSYOP theme. It is not a perfectly successful approach to brainwashing an entire population, but it does not have to be perfect to be achieve the bottom-line desired result.

Whatever happened to truth and facts was asked? They are still around but if they do not jibe with King Obama's agenda they will be ignored or covered up. Liberals and truth are akin to oil and water. They simply do not mix.

The left are on that run away

The left are on that run away Hell bound "Obama" train-toot, toot, toot. Strategizing their next litany of lies to manipulate and get what they want at any cost. You know usually, no matter the party, you feel the president supports you and wants to help, but Obama is an adversarial president who pick enemies and demonizes them. He is an adversary and deceiver-hey that sounds familiar like some Christian or Jewish figure.

"Whatever happened to facts and truth?" Are you talking about The Chronicle? Are you talking about the Obama administration? Are you talking about the "regular" letter writers to the Chronicle...ah heck, are you talking about "most" letter writers to the Chronicle? Nevermind, they're all liars. The truth and facts ALWAYS make the other guy back up.....well, that, or just tell more lies!

Quoting another Socialist

It seems the current Administration lives by this Quote made by another Famous (infamous) Socialist.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Ecclesiates 10:2 " A wise

Ecclesiates 10:2 " A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left."

John 21:6 "And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes."

Do NOT believe this is about fishing, or which hand dominant you are!! A right handed person is no more wise than a left handed person. This is about philosophy and obedience to God, period!!

Our thoughts should be on the right and we should CAST our vote on the right side of the boat. This is my belief!!

"Before this is over thousands of people are going to die....

....and hundreds of thousands will be fiscally damaged beyond repair! "

This is the aspect that's spoken about very little.

The problems we're about to experience are discussed by the politicians and TV pundits in the academic, esoteric sense. "Yes, some will lose their plans," or "yes, the premiums will triple for some," or some such things. They don't seem to grasp the consequences in human terms. They will be significant.

Imagine the family in which both parents work to support three or four children. They now pay about $400/month in health care costs, have it budgeted, and they just barely scrape by now with house payments, car payments, groceries, utilities, etc..

Now they're told their health care costs are going to triple because of Obamacare. What do they do? What do they do if they have a child with a medical issue that needs treatment, or risks permanent damage?

Does anybody think these people are going to stand idly and silently by and watch their family suffer simply because of some leftwing vision of a utopian, communistic view of health care? They won't. They WILL NOT put up with it. What happens when they go to register a not so peaceful complaint about what's happening to them and they are beaten, locked in jail, or shot because they complain?

I predict chaos. Remember....the federal government has been buying arms and ammunition at an unprecedented rate.

Will Obamacare be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

"I predict chaos.

"I predict chaos. Remember....the federal government has been buying arms and ammunition at an unprecedented rate."

If they can't use mass shooting to ban firearms, they will do it subtly!! Yes, they are buying up billions of rounds of ammunition. They are also forcing more and more regulation on the firearms and ammunition industries.

I know most of you already know this, but I will state again; the 2nd Amendment and FIREARMS are the biggest stumbling block to their plans!! If it weren't for citizens owning firearms, we would already be in CHAOS!!

Speaking of smelting lead...

Speaking of smelting lead for bullets, didn't just the other day the last smelter of lead for bullets that is in Missouri just announce that it would close because of EPA regulations or something? Lunacy is becoming the driving force on so many areas of our country today. As a matter of fact, I can't think of any area that this administration touches not touched by lunacy.

Like there isn't enough lead

Like there isn't enough lead that a conscientious citizen couldn't make their own pellets or bullets. I seem to remember the move The Patriot melting down lead toy soldiers-a fishing lead sinker would do just fine. The more they try the more it will fail-like the war on drugs. Where there is a will there is a way.

It's Not....

....quite that simple, Bizkit.

Yes, it's possible to melt lead and cast your own bullets, but those bullets are very rudimentary and not suited to most modern weapons.

The practical effect will be, I think, that ammunition will become more expensive and harder to find, though I think the difference will be hardly noticeable. The problem is that this is just a first step in a broader and deeper strategy to remove the ability of citizens to own (and use) firearms.
