Don't delay Obamacare

  • Follow Letters

Dierks Bentley has an amusing music video titled What Was I Thinking? – in which a young man pursues the affections of a desirable young woman, with ghastly consequences. It put me in mind of the people now calling for conservatives to delay the implementation of Obamacare until past the 2014 elections.

Great thinking. I’m sure the Democrats up for re-election will be grateful – they will show it by burying you with a media blitz convincing the low-information voters that only Democrats can save us from the consequences. Kicking the can down the road means Democrats won’t be facing voters who have lost their present coverage and had it replaced for many times the cost. If it’s delayed, no one will get the fines for not having the “right” coverage. Delay, and there is plausible deniability and time for liberals – working in concert with their propaganda arm, the media – to paint conservatives as being responsible for the debacle that follows.

Is there an upside to delay? Does anyone think Democrats will, or could, even fix this mess in the space of a year? Under what incentive? Do you believe delay will make the liberals grateful for their rescue, or conservatives loved by the media?

Delay this, and the Republican Party will be singing that song I mentioned, and it will not be in the least amusing.

Dave Stewart Sr.

Agreed

The Democraps own this messed up law, the Republicans need to let the Titanic sink on its' own. When enough people are burned by it, perhaps then they will begin to wake up and see the Dems. for what they are. A party of collectivist hell bent on doing it their way regardless of who gets hurt. Good intentions, in their mind, is far more important than results.

Don't delay!

Kind of hard to put rain drops back into the clouds once it hits the ground. Many like me are already suffering from Obama-Reid-Pelosi Care that has caused my monthly premium to increase ten times more than it was last year. I'm sure that my rates will never be reduced to the pre AHC rates and a refund made if this law is ever stopped.

The only down side of letting this junk run its course is the

pain that it is going to cause people unnecessarily. Of course, a counter argument can be made that pain is sometimes required in order for some to see the consequences.

Maybe those who supported and continue to support Obama must be burned by the fire before they see the light.

Give them all they want

My Mother always told me, " give the fool enough rope and he will hang himself". I've thought the same thing for a while now. I agree Mr. Stewart. I feel it futile to fight it anyway, there are a lot of hands stuck out and I know who is going to do the paying

How much will it cost?

Really great idea, but how much will this cost us taxpayers? Do we really want to wreck this expencive train just to see what will happen? About 40% of the people will never wake up because they blindly believe the lies and deceipt that are coming from this administration as fact. Even if they were faced with fines, they will always blame someone else. That's just the way they are, and you can't change that. Obama knows this and is using this as a tool. Don't give up. We've got to keep fighting for what we believe in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can already see what Obama

We can already see what Obama and the democrats are planning next. The failure will be blamed on the "private sectors" inability to put up a website. What we need to do is to turn the whole mess over to the federal government. Single payer is the goal and always has been.

We can't underestimate that downside.

People tend to talk about that pain in an academic sense, forgetting that it will cause the deaths of some citizens and tremendous hardships for others.

Suppose you are the working spouse in a family of five and making $50K/year. You go to work every day and do your damnedest to pay all your bills and barely struggle to pay $300/month for health care. Now suppose you are told that policy will terminate in 60 days and your Obamacare premium will cost $1000/month and the deductible will go from $1500 to $6500. That your annual cost for medical care will be almost $20,000 before your Obamacare insurance pays the first dime.

What will you do? Find a second job? Send the other spouse to work? What about babysitters? What about the second car you'll need? What happens when a child gets sick? Or two?

This is not some esoteric case study for millions of Americans....it's staring them right in the face and it's approaching like a tornado.

Excellent LTE

Having this disaster swamp the low-information voter is probably our only chance to avoid having the debacle result in our ending up with a single payer health care system like Britain's NHS.

That has been Obummer and his useful idiot's game plan all along anyway--to make people so completely miserable and devastate their economic welfare so much that they have no choice but to fall into the government's outstretched and bony, threadbare arms.

I predict the brightest and best will not be going into medicine within a decade, and probably not into medical research either. And primary care will devolve to PAs and nurse practitioners who will ration specialist referrals like they are Masters badges.

When Ted Cruz started this

When Ted Cruz started this government shutdown thing I said the best way to garner public support for repeal and replacement of Obamacare is to FULLY IMPLEMENT IT ON EVERYONE AS SPECIFIED IN THE LAW and to file suit against President Obama for his ILLEGAL exemptions, waivers, and delays he has given to his campaign contributors, unions, and businesses.

How many years have the GOP had to 'fix' Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security... BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN 'FIXED'?!

Seems some of the biggest reasons the Bagger Brotherhood resents the ACA is that they know they don't have the guts to reform it as long as there's a chance they will have their snouts voted out of the feedtrough.

Pure cowardice.

My doctor told me that today it would cost a person 9 years and almost $500, 000 to become a heart surgeon. He said with the way Medicare is cutting what they pay doctors and now Osamacare the heart surgeon would be an old man before he got his money back.
When there are not enough people studying to be doctors the good old government will start paying for college and of course they will decide who will become doctors. Probably use Affirmative Action in deciding who will be the heart surgeons.

The website

It appears that the website may very well NOT work in the Democrats' favor. Even if the website is fixed by the end of Nov., this along with the millions that don't want it may change the direction of this country's government!

Not only will the government decide WHO will be doctors, they'll decide WHAT (if anything) is their specialty, WHERE they will practice, and HOW MUCH they will be paid.

Medical professionals will be government employees. It's all part of the plan.

Of course the government will to be PC so minorities will be given 1st choice regardless if they are qualified or not.
"Medical professionals will be government employees. It's all part of the plan."
It will save money on mal-practice ins. Even though the doctors will be less qualified and make more mistakes they can't be sued because they are gov't employees.

"You hear of horror stories but I just ran into a real case of signing up for obamacare insurance. just took my lawn mower in for service. the owner is a 28 year old guy with a wife and 2 children. he was dropped by his insurance plan because of obamacare. he then signed up for insurance through the new procedures. his payment went up $l25.00 per month and his deductible went from $l500 to $5000. welcome to obamacare. of course, those who Obama set up the new system for are all signing up for medicade and are paying the same as they paid before. NOTHING. THIS IS A TRUE STORY."

@Teaparty, 2:23

I wish that were true, but as a former government employee medical care provider, they will be vulnerable to law suits as any other medico unless the fed changes its current policies.

Federal employees who provide medical care do get sued, and even those who work in military or VA hospitals would be beyond stupid not to provide their own professional liability insurance. A federal institution will hang a medical care provider out to dry just as quickly as any other hospital or institution will. I seriously doubt that will change with Obummerscare. If anything, medical staffers might well become even more disposable.
