Oct. 30 marks an important day in American history. It is a day that we must recognize to be a crescendo to the end of self-reliance, working for a better life and setting a good example for your children.
On this day in 2008, Peggy Joseph of Florida took her daughter out of school to attend a rally that had two then-U.S. senators as its headliners – Joseph Biden and Barack Obama. While being interviewed by an NBC reporter after Obama read from a set of teleprompters, Ms. Joseph said, “It was the most memorable time of my life. … I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know – if I help him, he’s gonna help me.”
“If I help him, he’s gonna help me”? How? Does she really think Barack Obama will eliminate her mortgage and send her gas money? Maybe if Peggy asks nicely, he may do her laundry and prepare her meals too. Since I brought it up, has he been paying her mortgage and has he ascertained that her tank is always full?
I don’t know what’s sadder – that she actually said and believed in what she said, or she has offspring being force-fed this rubbish, if not brainwashed, to believe that the government is to provide for her and dictate her happiness.
Peggy Joseph is just one of many who are woefully ignorant, and perhaps even lazy and refuse to go out there and do something for themselves and their families, but instead have chosen to have their way of life dictated by an overreaching federal government.
How far we have come from the Fourth of July to Peggy and the Thirtieth of October. God help the next generation!
