Overturn law in three steps

  • Follow Letters

Division over the Affordable Care Act is understandable. My suggestion to overturn the law is to follow these steps:

• Take control of the U.S. Senate in the next election. A veto-proof majority would be helpful.

• Vastly increase the majority in the U.S. House.

• Override any veto to overturn the law.

If the above steps cannot be accomplished, the law should be given a fair amount of time to live or die on its own.

Absolutey WRONG. It is like a bad weed or a sweet gum tree. The longer it has to sink it's roots into American system the harder it will be to extract! I think there are several legal challanges that may bear fruit. One is the wording of the subsides. As the law reads now people in 36 States are NOT elgible for subsides. A judge may rewrite the law like Roberts did. We will see. One federal judge has refused to throw the suit out so it does have legs!

I'm hopeful there will be a huge change in the house. After the GOP shenanigans shutting down our government more of the teapublicans will be looking at Russia from Palin's house.

Carcraft is right...

This is federal beurocracy at it's finest. Complex, expencive, discriminatory, unconstitutional... It needs to be pulled out by the roots with every ounce of energy we have. Waiting for the next election is only giving this vile weed more time to grow.

I find it hilarious that the democrats are now calling for a delay. Isn't that exactly what Congress tried to tell us? It will be interesting to see if both the democrats and republicans have the combined strength to stand up to this evil administration.

@Gary Ross

"Unconstitutional"?

All three branches of the federal government disagree. You don't get to just say something like that. It's a law and it is constitutional. If you disagree, do as the letter suggests.

Don't try to circumvent the Constitution to win.

"Don't try to circumvent the Constitution to win."

We are not trying to circumvent the Constitution. There are many of us who think the SCOTUS misinterpreted the Constitution and that Judge Roberts went beyond his authority when he changed the wording of the law and struck the unconstitutional "penalty" and called it a tax. Just as we feel that Obama unconstitutionally gave waivers, exemptions, and delays to specific provisions that were spelled out in the ACA, signed into law, and upheld by SCOTUS.

In other words, we think the ACA sucks and Chief Justice Roberts sucks, but if we are going to do it, it should apply to EVERYONE, AT THE SAME TIME, INCLUDING CONGRESS and the PRESIDENT and BUSINESSES and CORPORATIONS......as specified in the technically constitutional law that was passed and signed.

You mean like enforcing immigration laws, or does that only apply to laws that the President likes? How about the President's illegal drilling moratorium? Is that another exception?

The following could explain why Angela.

1. Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance

"The President should be impeached because of X, Y, and Z." =/= "The sky is blue."

A fact coming from the mouth of a conspiracy theorist is still a fact, but unless the alleged fact is as obvious as "They sky is blue", we shouldn't blindly believe him.
