Our America could fade

  • Follow Letters

Knowing that the pendulum always swings back in the other direction, there is a collective group of Republicans-in-name-only, left-leaning moderates and of course the fascist Democratic Party attempting to prevent it by manipulating the opinions of the underinformed masses with inflammatory rhetoric. They also use deception and lies to play off their ignorant constituents’ emotions.

This is nothing new. The Democratic Party has, for years, used the media to portray conservatives as heartless creatures, with rigid beliefs founded in a sexist, racist, homophobic attitude. What these politically savvy Saul Alinsky types have done, with the help of biased media, is to continually pound home these false ideas of their conservative counterparts to prevent the pendulum from swinging back to the right. So far they have been successful in persuading the totally indoctrinated electorate to believe their rhetoric while emboldening left-wingers who have longed for so-called social justice.

This is the perfect storm of political destruction of our way of life. It will drag down those who have largely been responsible for creating small businesses, along with the multitudes of middle-class workers dependent upon jobs supplied by these small businesses. As a result, America will become a two-class society – the rich and the poor. The middle class will be destroyed by the hands of leftists in the name of social justice.

By the time the electorate wakes up and sees the collapse, it will be too late to reverse course. The left would have accomplished its goal of one-party rule – their party. America will become weakened permanently in the eyes of the rest of the world, and politicians will have total control of the people and their way of life from cradle to grave. The elitist governing body will have no opposition, and America as we once knew it will only be a fading memory.

We have been on a downward spirial for over 100 years.

It started gradually with Teddy Roosevelt then went into full gear with Wilson. FDR put the train on runaway tracks and it has only periodically slowed since then. Reversing it will take efforts no country has ever seen because of what Alexander Tyler said in 1770:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over lousy financial policy, always followed by dictatorship. The average of the world's great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in his sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency back again to bondage."

Most people do not realize how learned the Founding Father were in history and that knowledge is why they established a Republic rather than a Democracy which is nothing more than mob rule akin to two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. The idea of a democracy was frightening to them and "democracy" did not come into vogue until Woodrow Wilson came along. We are now reaping this transition form a republic to a democracy. Doing away with the 17th Amendment and having the US Senators chosen by state legislatures rather than popular vote would be a positive beginning to slow this decent to destruction.

Speaking as an independent,

Speaking as an independent, rest assured, if we become a one party system the Republicans did it to themselves. With coo-coo leaders like Palin, Bachmann, Rush, Cruz, and Hannity - what do you expect. Find a real tea party leader that talks with some sense and you might stand a chance. You can't just be all anti-Obama with no ideas. How about ideas to fix Obama Care, not destroy it - because it is the law and will be around forever, because the people will soon demand it. Stop hoping that it fail. Hello!

Adjust the tin foil and read the right wing bubble's insult list
Unpublished

Then again, people read letters like the above and see for themselves exactly what the right wing is like and don't like what they see. They then vote against it. There are still some that, while they claim they love the country and the Constitution, want to change both dramatically. They don't like that America is becoming less white and more accepting of people. You know, getting government off peoples' backs, out of their bedrooms, telling them who they can marry, and things like that. Ideas they claim to support, but in reality, all they really mean is they want a Taliban like government to control our morals and laissez faire government that can dump pollution in our air, rivers, oceans, and food freely, while we pick up their tax bills too. Change the Constitution were the people have less say and give more control to elected officials who answer more to those who line their re-election coffers than their constituents. America, they love it so much they hate it.

"They don't like that America is becoming less white and more accepting of people."

Yeah, Bod, we get it. Conservatives are racists and against the Constitution. Hardly in both cases.

Jack, The Republicans have had alternative health care

programs for years...even before Obama came along. Since obamacare has been "discussed" (remember there were no hearings on obamacare in the Democratic run Congress) and passed there have been at least three alternatives presented. Perhaps the best being the one from Representative Tom Price from Georgia and a medical doctor. You don't know about these proposals because it is more in the interest of the lapdog media to say, "The Republicans are the party of 'no'." rather than saying, "Here are three proposed alternatives the Republicans have to obamacare".

By not publicizing the Republican alternatives the media allows low information people to be able to say and write that the Republicans have no ideas and are against obamacare because it was proposed by a black man.

If there is only one party

If there is only one party then there is essentially no party. In any case if there is a single party it will do doubt be divided. Getting rid of political parties maybe the only salvation for our little experiment in democracy in our Republic.

I think everyone hates the Rep party now but we see the public is hating the ACA more. This brings up the real possibility people will not vote for Rep but vote against the ACA-which means they would have to give Congress to Rep so they could overcome a veto to rid of us the ACA. It's coming because the media and lying president can't cover up the obvious that the ACA isn't going to work insuring everyone nor cost savings.

change

the ship of change has left port... not to find a new mooring for quite some time. One can embrace this change and facilitate its direction, or one can live in the bubble of 'where have all the flowers gone'. The orthodoxy is under attack because it has NO idealism, NO 'way forward'. It attacks all that is 'different' from its own dogma. Of all the actual results of this diminution of 'influence', losing ground on fiscal policy is the most worrisome. We need a party, like of old, that is focused on a 'fair' distribution of resources, resources that are justly appropriated. let us argue in the seats of government, Fair and Just. For many of us see the intrusion of religious ideologies into government a non sequitor, i.e. not voting for religious right candidates, period. Jack234 giving a good example in his posting.

Legalized Plunder

There is nothing "fair" about a government's taking money from some individuals by force and then re-distributing that money to other individuals in the form of subsidies, electronic debit cards, cell phone service, etc. That is called plunder.

Sorry Mr. Rodgers your title is almost right!

"Our America could fade"
It should be " America has already faded." We as the greatest empire of modern times have peaked and are on the downhill/backside of greatness.

If we don't get rid of socialists in our government then the slide will continue! And you all know who I mean!

If "Fair and Just" is what you want,

how about applying that to the effort put forth by people to earn their part of the resources?

There's nothing "Fair and Just" about just funding people who do not work, do not produce anything of value and only consume the every resource made available to them, and while spending their lives sitting on their cans, except when they're busy having sex and popping out more people who spend their lives sitting on their cans except when they... well, you get the idea.

Some haven't a clue what "fair" or "just" really mean. Neither include "bloodsucker", "leech", "moocher", "thief", "indolence" or "sloth" as part of their definition. With them, "entitlement" is related to effort and one's contribution to the store of resources.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I absolutely Hate

Palin and Bachman's accents. I wouldn't vote for them not because of their ideas but because they're accents are harsh and grate on my nerves. I think no one should vote for them unless you want to hear that fingernails on chalk board speaking tone for years.
Vote Hillary. Her accent is just fine!

Typical mindless progressive

Typical mindless progressive that votes for the cool person or the one with the neatest accent, because that is as deep as it gets. Hilary isn't cool so she can't be a progressive front runner and no accent can change that. Without the "cool" comedian factor and being a really good liar you can't be a progressive candidate.
