Dems won't compromise

  • Follow Letters

I have watched with much interest the recent battling in Congress over the budget.

I know the Republicans first tried to defund Obamacare completely. This was rejected by the Senate. During the past few days the president talked about the need for the sides to compromise to keep from shutting down the government.

During this time, I had the honor to be on a phone town hall meeting with U.S. Rep. John Barrow and heard him cover his stance on Obamacare. He said he did not support Obamacare and had voted against it on every occasion. Rep. Barrow went on to say
that Congress needs to work together to solve problems.

The Republican-controlled House tried to compromise and agreed to fund part of Obamacare. Again this was rejected by the Senate.

On the last day before the shutdown, the Republicans again tried to compromise. This time  all they wanted was to delay the implementation of  the individual mandate and for Congress to not be exempt from the law. This also was rejected by the Senate.

It seems to me that only one side was trying to compromise. Funny thing – the president already has delayed full implementation of Obamacare by exempting big business and labor unions for a year.

Recently, I heard part of a news conference in which a White House spokesman was asked if the president felt responsible for the government shutdown. He answered “Why? He didn’t vote on it.”

He is right. The Democrats in the Senate are the ones who are set on shutting down the government and not willing to compromise.

The Dems won't 'compromise'?

The Dems won't 'compromise'? You really need to turn off the FOX!! The Senate tepubs refused for the 21st time yesterday to negotiate budget bills before the Senate, that while a couple of same in the House Veterans hearing yesterday were attacking Gen Shinseki about why some bills sent to the Senate from the house had yet to pass, they in return got hammered by a few others on the committee!!
Representative Democracy: The budget bill has already come to consensus by the Executive branch and Senate along with the Majority of the Country, the House refuses to vote on that consensus reached and is seeking a $6.2billion cut in the VA budget!! As to the ACA the Congress and Executive Branch not only came to the consensus, along with a majority of the country, funding and all, but in fighting back that great majority the Supreme court also ruled it's Constitutional, thus it's now the law of the land, Exclamation Point!!!!!!!!!

Veterans Administration Regional Offices facing shutdown starting this week as monies budgetted run out:

Speaker Boehner 4 Oct. 2013: "I think the American people expect if we’re going to raise the amount of money we can borrow, we ought to do something about our spending problem."

Really? Where was that when you were rubber stamping spending bush wants Before 9/11 and then after with the two wars and no bid contracts on the credit card and off the books, still not paid for, and this 'tea party' was all for that!!!!!

""On Thursday, October 3, 2013, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) spoke out against $6.2 billion in cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs budget . Cuts would include programs like medical and prosthetic research for wounded Veterans, national Veterans cemeteries, the Veterans appeals board and resources to reduce the claims backlog. ""

$6.2 billion in cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs budget in the Tepublican Budget the House won't even bring up for a vote, while neither of these recent wars has been paid for yet!!!!

What the country wants as no one has demanded, especially their hired representatives, it's way past time for those served Sacrifice for those they've demanded do for them, DeJa-Vu all over again, and again, and.......!!!

America's Free War's and No Sacrifice, of the present generations by those served and passing costs onto the next while ignoring or giving lip service on the issues of the veterans' from, DeJa-Vu all over again!!

"If military action is worth our troops' blood, it should be worth our treasure, too" "not just in the abstract, but in the form of a specific ante by every American." -Andrew Rosenthal 10 Feb. 2013

This is a republican budget bill, not what the Executive Branch wants nor the Democrats in the House and Senate, but they passed it in the Senate and the President says he'll sign it and yet the Speaker refuses to bring it to a vote, their bill, in the House!!

As they stick flags in their breast pockets or pin to upper breasts and do photo ops with WWII veterans like they really really care and are oh so patriotic!!

Nice copy and paste job!! Why would you waste our time like that? Just post the link where you got all that crap and let us decide if we want to read it. Don't play it off like it's original thinking!!

Do you really expect people to take seriously, a person who quotes Bin Laden's about President Bush?

You do realize; that evil, evil Bush; during his entire Presidency, added 4 trillion to the debt. The debt was $5.727 trillion when Bush took over and was $9.849 trillion when he left office. The debt is now over 17 trillion, which if my shakey math is correct, that means Obama, in just over FOUR YEARS, has added 8 trillion, to Bush adding 4 trillion in EIGHT YEARS!!

Now, I'll sit back and wait for you to spin this around, to blame Bush for Obama's spending; because I KNOW you will, as liberals ALWAYS DO!! It's in "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky. No matter what, even if evidence proves different, blame the other person!!! Never have an intelligent conversation about issues with the opposition; attack and discredit them by calling them names. Blame them for everything bad!!

"The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The phrase "destroying this country" is thrown about, and has been, for the longest time, yet it never happens."

This attitude is exactly what is so dangerous!! With THIS attitude, they can just keep doing whatever they want, whenever they want. People like you honestly don't believe running up such astounding debt, means anything!! 17 trillion? You guys laugh at that!! Why not make it 50 trillion??? No one is ever going to try and collect that debt, right? Who is going to try and make America pay off their debt?

Meanwhile, China is becoming one of the largest owners of American land, in the world!! We are paying off our debt, by giving them LAND ownership in America!! What happens when they try to do something with that land, that we don't approve of?

You do realize, throughout history, most wars have been fought over LAND, right?

But, don't listen to that ridiculous non-sense. Nothing bad is ever going to happen as long as the Obamasiah is in office!! We Repubs are just calling Wolf to panic people. All is well in the world, as long as Obama is in office. Maybe we should let him continue to run for President after 8 years.

Liberal/progressive thinking

Liberal/progressive thinking is a cancer to a free society and always has been!! It slowly and methodically takes more and more freedom, until the people don't even know what freedom looks like anymore. It is so slow and subtle, you won't even see it or notice it's completely taking you over. You can treat it, but it never completely goes away and you're always in remission; then it shows it's ugly head again, down the road.

If you don't catch it in time, by the time you've noticed it, it's too late to save yourself. That's what it depends on, is NOT to be noticed until it's too late to stop it!! You must catch cancer in it's beginning stages or there is no stopping it!!

This cancer is in stage 4!!! We (mankind) have waited far to long to stop it!! But THAT is why He is called a Savior!! Our Savior is FAR better than theirs, and certainly more capable of saving!!

Where were the republicans

Where were the republicans when the healthcare legislation was being drafted? They were sitting in their corners planning THIS strategy. They had time to try and work with democrats and purposely wait until the end of the fiscal year to try and derail it. Too late... a lot of Americans have managed to sign up for the ACA and benefits to start in January. Can't take it back now.

Obama's approvel is down to 37 percent and another poll shows that more Americans blame Obama more than the Tea Party. I'm sure you liberals will dig up a bias poll but this is an AP poll, not a friend of the Right. So, keep on thinking that the Dems. are winning all you want. As time goes by more and more people are turning their views away from the GOP and are focusing on the real problem Obama and the Democraps.

Correction. The debt was

Correction. The debt was $10.627 trillion when Bush left office, a total increase of 86%. He had also came in with an economy doing well, the US bringing in 20.35% of GDP as revenue. He then decided to start 2 wars, have 2 rounds of tax cuts, geared mainly toward the wealthy. Throw in the Medicare drug benefit and increasing overall military spending to over a trillion dollars a year. Obama came in after Bush had tanked the economy, had revenues of 15.1%, 15.1%, 15.4%, and 15.8% of GDP over the last 4 years, an opposition party that met the day of the inauguration and pledged to oppose anything and everything he tried to do en masse. Obama was still saddled with the 2 wars, and the inflated military budgets, and even though Bush's tax cuts were supposed to be temporary, the GOP was obviously lying in that agreement, as they are prone to do., he was stuck with them as well. Surprisingly, even after all of that, the debt has only grown 57% so far under Obama, and that's in raw dollars, not calculating for inflation. BTW: As of 10/8, the debt was $16.747 trillion. I noticed you fudged Bush's number low and Obama number high. I'm sure you were just mistaken since the numbers are easily checked even though that doesn't stop most right wing sources from making up their "facts" as they go along. Fox, Beck, Limbaugh, and too many others to mention. They're all old pros at it.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd tanked the economy by requiring Banks to loan money to people to buy homes that could not afford. This caused a housing bubble which drove the economy. The banks were forced by the Dems. to continue to loan to finanically unfit people with the subprime lending through Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Would you know it, Banry Frank's Boyfriend ran Fannie Mae. So, the banks to keep from failing, bundled these toxic loans and sold them to investers. In short the Dems. forced the banks into a ponzi scheme. When there were no more investors to sell these toxic loans to, the bottom fell out of the housing market. And so came the 2008 crash as a result. Facts, Facts, Facts. Look it up it is easy to find.

China own around 8% of the

China own around 8% of the debt. They're becoming land owners in the US. So how to you twist that around to we're giving them land? They're buying a lot of US companies thanks to all of the money sent their way from folks like the Walton family and the folks that shop at their stores. Wasn't it nice of Bush and Company to spend trillions of our dollars and sacrifice our servicemen and women so China could have easy access, without a drop of Chinese blood spilled, to the Iraqi oilfields? So it was all about oil after all, just not for our country. Great plan neocons on spending all of that money to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure while you let ours rot. The Chinese thank you from the bottom of their cold little hearts.

We would have taken the oil

We would have taken the oil fields of Iraq. But knowing how the Libs. continued to gripe about the war was only about oil, they would have most certinaly hit the roof in protest if Bush had gone ahead and took the oil as payment. Also, we would have had to contend with the Environmentalist wackos as well. In any case Bush was not spared any ridicule, so he should have taken the oil anyway.

Nobody forced anyone to loan

Nobody forced anyone to loan money to people who couldn't afford to pay it back. That was all on the banks. They figured they couldn't go wrong. Thanks to the scam with appraisers and prices getting to the point of insanity, all they'd have to do is foreclose and sell it again with some kind of crooked loan scheme that the Bush Administration Dept. of No Oversight was keeping a close lid on. More right wing made up "facts". Believe or not, big businesses aren't always straight shooters and will cut corners and are sometimes downright unethical and try every trick in the book until the government stops them. When the people who are supposed keep and an out have them closed, they get away with murder, until it all comes crumbling down. Which it did. All on Bush watch, and it was no ones fault except him and his merry band of neocons.

The democrats like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and many others WERE the reason the economy tanked; it's be proven!! But, BUSH was the President at the time so he get's the blame by the left. Of course, now that Obama is the president and the debt has increased 7 trillion dollars, who get's the blame? Of course, that would still be Bush!!

Obama could have stopped these expensive wars, right in their tracks, but did he? Nope, he continued them for years!!! But who gets the blame? Bush!! This non-sense makes me sick!! It's their mentality to NEVER blame themselves for ANYTHING!! Give themselves credit for everything good and never accept any responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Take FULL credit for getting Bin Laden, but deny ANY responsibility for Benghazi!! Sound familiar? They do it in every facet of governement. WHEN the AFA fails and destroys the economy down the road, they will find a way to blame republicans, watch and see. There will probably be a republican President when it happens and he will get the blame.

Well one of the wars we

Well one of the wars we should have fought as a result of 911. Reducing taxes for everyone (and not the lie it was only for the wealthy mantra of lying Dems) in the past has increased revenues for the govt., but just like Keynesian economics it doesn't work all the time. Bush increased spending for Medicaid, but few president help the poor so kudos to that one. Bush entered office during a recession because of the dot com bubble burst. Obama came into office with all branches of govt in his pocket-it doesn't matter what Rep do as only a Dem screw up can precipitate a Rep win. Just like Obamacare was a screw up that cost Obama the House and created the Tea party. In any case Obama came into office with the promise to fix our problems-he hasn't and complaining about the past president doesn't negate the lack of the success of the present president.

Even if Bodhisattva's numbers

Even if Bodhisattva's numbers were correct (which they are NOT) it still proves my point!! Even with Bods numbers, in 8 years, Bush increased the debt 6 trillion. Obama has did the exact same in FOUR YEARS!!! That is WITH tax increases, not breaks. Every person's taxes has increased since Obama came into office and yet he has still grown the debt more than Bush did in 8 years, with Bush giving tax breaks to people. Because Bush's tax breaks were NOT just to the wealthy!! I quite enjoyed those tax breaks and I certainly know I'm not wealthy!!

I know I make right at 40k a year!! I also KNOW that I pay a higher percentage of taxes on my income than I did under Bush!! There has been no tax breaks under Obama, and again; while taking in MORE revenue, he has still increased the debt by over 6 trillion and is on pace to DOUBLE how much Bush increased the debt.

The left is absolutely BRILLIANT at spinning facts and blaming others; but I don't see how you spin this. At least not to anyone with common sense.

Of course it was rejected by The Democratic Senate and Dem. President Obama! Like it or not, Obamacare is the law and must be allowed to go forward. I don't understand why the Republican voters are just as split as the Republicans "on the hill". There is a minority of Republicans that say GO-FOR-IT on Obamacare, but a majority that say NO WAY. Truth never matters;

Did you even read this article before posting?

The Tea party has made it clear what they want and HAVE compromised!! At first they wanted to completely defund the AFA. Then back down from that and asked that ONLY the individual mandate be DELAYED. Then they wanted the congressional exemption (that the left said wasn't even in there) to be done away with!!

Bottom line is; since the Obamasiah is our President, the democrats are being stubborn and saying "ALL or nothing" and punishing the American people!!

So, how is it that we DON'T know what the Tea Party want's when they've stated EXACTLY what they want???

Or does the truth even matter to you?
