Republicans are sore losers

  • Follow Letters

Why can’t we start calling this what it is? This Republican shutdown is simply the latest way House Majority Leader John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are acting out their declaration to make President Obama a one-term president, even if it takes two terms to do it.

So shouldn’t The Augusta Chronicle’s Oct. 4 editorial “A losing wager?” have been titled “Sore losers?” – given that Republicans voted and failed 40-something times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, failed to get the Supreme Court to declare it unconstitutional and now are shutting down the government just to undermine the law?

So instead of celebrating the alleged ignorance of people on the street not knowing that the Affordable Care Act and Obamacare are the same thing, your paper should have long ago done its duty as a member of the Fourth Estate to inform the people that the two are the same.

t3...."TWO GREAT reasons to

t3...."TWO GREAT reasons to allow Obamacare to go forward as THE LAW should be allowed to go forward!!"

Obama has already raped and murdered the law as passed, signed, and upheld by the court. The Affordable Care Act no longer exists....it has already been defiled and maimed.....quite illegally I might add by a president to does not have the authority to change the law OR it's implementation.

Obamacare is fully funded. The Republicans are not holding it hostage. Their last request was merely to give the American people the same sweetheart deals, exemptions, and delays that the lying Obama has given to his friends, supporters, and contributors.

Come on t3....you are better than that.

"Congress is suppose to write

"Congress is suppose to write a bill and the different parties work out a compromise that all parities can live with. Now they all refuse to play-..."

That horse left the barn when the ACA was signed into law. The Republicans chiseled away at the bill (it's now a LAW for those of you who think we are still in the compromising phase), making demands that were met by the Democrats. When it was time to vote, ALL Republicans voted against the bill that had the specific changes they had requested.

It is sad to hear people who know full well that Mitt Romney and every other Republican ran on repealing the ACA, continue to claim that there has not been a fair vetting of the ACA. Well the voters heard their appeal and decided that they wanted to stay with the leader already in the White House. That is how elections work in this country. One would think that the people who are such strict constitutionalists would accept this. You do not change the laws you disagree with just because you lost an election.

This shutdown is the GOP's doing because not one Democrat is saying, "We won't open the government unless the GOP agree to _____________."

I am so sick of this nonsense. The President should not capitulate.
It's time for conservatives to grow up. Whenever the GOP has been in charge of either branch, this country has nothing but utter chaos__all created by the GOP.

It's the Law

Yeah, let's move on. Then read more of this stuff from Democrats.
"Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four."
Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."
"I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today."
Dumb as dirt Democrats. Who did they think was going to pay for it??

You should be speechless. After saying that it's over, just because it was signed into law is the same logic. If it's a bad law, it should be repealed. With attitudes like yours about laws, we would still have slavery.

AND the smallest violin is playing for the health care system!! Dooms-dayers, the sky will not fall since there are almost just as many people goin to the drs. as there will be as a result of Obamacare!! EVERYONE better start worrying about the population getting older!! THERE IS your "doomsday" for shortages of medical proffessionals!!

OK, you know that I get the majority of the news from TV. The Speaker NEEDS to make this perticular issue the issue that The House is concentrating on NOW! I did not know the latest bargining chip was over Obama's favors to everyone BUT the individual mandate!

We need a grass roots effort

We need a grass roots effort to let Congress know what Americans think. I think every ideology is sick of this stalemate so lets all unify and protest. We can burn dummies of Bonehead and Reid-ermeister in effigy with a flag stuffed up their tuckus. Let them know all Americans are sick of it their political games and we will resort to water boarding for members of Congress who act like stubborn arses. Either come to some "rational" agreement or learn to hold your breath for prolonged periods. LOL. hoo, hop, hop, Halloween is approaching so lets scare the heck outta them for a change.
