Republicans are sore losers

  • Follow Letters

Why can’t we start calling this what it is? This Republican shutdown is simply the latest way House Majority Leader John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are acting out their declaration to make President Obama a one-term president, even if it takes two terms to do it.

So shouldn’t The Augusta Chronicle’s Oct. 4 editorial “A losing wager?” have been titled “Sore losers?” – given that Republicans voted and failed 40-something times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, failed to get the Supreme Court to declare it unconstitutional and now are shutting down the government just to undermine the law?

So instead of celebrating the alleged ignorance of people on the street not knowing that the Affordable Care Act and Obamacare are the same thing, your paper should have long ago done its duty as a member of the Fourth Estate to inform the people that the two are the same.

Typical lib

Resorting to name calling. But then again, what else can you do when you have nothing else?

Then ending with “your paper should have long ago done its duty as a member of the Fourth Estate to inform the people that the two are the same.”

I refer you to http://chronicle.augusta.com/opinion/editorials/2011-08-18/your-liberty-... from over 2 years ago. It's usually a good idea to do a little research before throwing baseless accusations around.

There was no "name calling"
Unpublished

There was no "name calling" at all. There was only the truth. Boehner is terrified that if he allows the clean CR to go for a vote, it WILL pass, and his Speaker of the House position would be on the line. As more polls are taken, they ALL say that Republicans are taking the blame for this idiocy.
If this continues until we default on our responsibilities, there will be no repairing the Republican party's reputation.
Ronnie Raygun had some great one-liners, the problem is that so many of them weren't true. For Republicans to use the words of a crook and an 11 time tax raiser as their source of "Republicanness" is highly amusing.

the Affordable Care act would be the correct name

except for the word "affordable" and the word "care"
it should be the "Increased cost for less care" act
or the "nO'ffordable nO'Care" act
or the "Buearucratic takeover" act
regardless, the government should never shut down
unless one party uses the IRS to steal an election
or through ignorance and arrogance
ruins our health care system with the
largest tax increase in the history of civilization
and has more scandals than any other President or king
and "a long train of abuses and usurpations" of the Constitution

So what is Obama and Harry

So what is Obama and Harry Reed scared of? They will not sit down and talk and give a little to make things work as they supposed to. Compromise is a situation where both sides get a little something but not everything they want. It has always been this way until Obama and his thugg demoncrats decided that they are abiters of what the rest of us must choke down as law. Well, hate to tell you Dems. the pendulum always swings back to the other side and I don't think you are going to enjoy the reversals and changes that will take place. We got rid of slavery and we will get rid of Obamacrapcare. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will be replaced and Obama will be rememebred as the thugg president of the modern era that he is.

Just as sore as the Far Left during BUSH 2001-2009.

But surprisingly, The left hammered Bush while he actually worked with Far Left Dem's like Kerry, Clinton and Kennedy to pass modified laws to help education, jobs, and taxes.

Unlike Obama's & Reid's flat out PUBLIC REFUSAL's to negotiate at all.

Their Motto seems to be -----> Our Way or No Way. <---------

I guess Right Wingers are more open minded, more civil and less socialists about running America.

Unbelievable...

Congress is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Trying to apply some kind of financial control and responsibility to an out-of-control government. Why would anyone with any common sense at all go and spend trillions of new dollars when they can't control the debt they already have? And they think the answer is to raise the debt ceiling again so they can borrow more? That's just insane thinking. Unfortunately, the majority of voting people who are taken in by this are either pure idiots or selfish takers.

If I am not mistaken, the editorial suggested The Republicans should allow Obamacare to go forward "so it can; most likely meet its eventual demise"!!

speaking of Debt Control

Despite being in a SHUTDOWN and taxpayers being told a number of documented lies.

The US Treasury turned around and issued another $8,323,949,000,000 in new Treasury securities monday.

See for yourself how the $$$$ still flows.

Historical Baloney

Newt Gingrich schooled Democrat, former Sec of Labor, Robert Reich in debates the past couple of days on previous shutdown confrontations. This is the way our Constitution designed our government to work. It’s been used often and relatively recently. To say this is an unprecedented maneuver by the Republicans shows the lack of knowledge by Democrats and media. As Newt said, “This is historical baloney.”

t3--1]the left constantly refers to us as racist etc..2] the opposition always try to defeat the ruling party..so your shock that we wanted obumler a 1-term prez..is puzzling. 3] obama has no constitutional right to ignore parts of any law..which he does all the time.4] the house has every right to change the law thru the appropiate powers granted to them by the constitution..5[ it was the dims that used every bit of tricky, pay outs to its members and deceit to pass a very unpopular bill without any opposition support..this has never has happened b/4. 6] why our elected officials would not fight a law that hurts so many of the people they represent would be wrong ..it would be absurd to think they would allow a train wreck to happen just to say i told you so.7] obumler is completely untrustworthy to believe he would negotiate after recieving what he now demands is silly..sorry we been there b/4

Congress is suppose to write

Congress is suppose to write a bill and the different parties work out a compromise that all parities can live with. Now they all refuse to play-my bet the President will intentionally default on our debts because of his ideology blah, blah, blah. like he always says. Obama is the only person who can allow us to default on our debt.

Let's get something straight.

The thing flopping around out there called Affordable Health Care Act is not THE law of the land. Because Obama has given thousands of waivers and modifications to the original act (exceeding his constitutional authority to faithfully executed the laws of the country) the monster out there bares little in common with the original act. The liberals would have an argument of it being the law of the land if there were not the unauthorized changes.

Obamacare is a disaster and it was designed to fail. It's a Trojan Horse meant to destroy the private health insurance market and force America into a socialist, government single-payer system.

That is the same model that always brings less quality of care, less choice, soaring costs, and rationing of care for everyone. So many countries have learned, when it comes to socialized medicine, there's no such thing as a free lunch.
