Health care plan ruinous

  • Follow Letters

To get “affordable health care” passed, President Obama and the Democrats likely blackmailed and bought the last votes from the few Democrats who knew it was a bad idea. Now you are about to see health care that is not affordable and is going to wreck the budgets of virtually every American family.

Example: If you decide not to carry insurance you will have to pay a $95 penalty if you are single and $285 for a family, and you will have no insurance in 2014. In 2015 those penalties will increase to $325 if you are single and $975 for your family, and you still will have no insurance!

And it continues to go up every year. In 2016 it will be $695 if you are single and $2,085 for a family.

Read the article in the Sept. 29 Augusta Chronicle (“Are you covered?”). Look at the examples and imagine what your costs would be if you took the median-priced “silver” plan that pays 70 percent of your cost. I compared it to a week I spent at a local hospital in 2009 that cost more than $300,000. I had excellent coverage with my private health care plan, and my share of the bill was slightly over $6,000. If you get a $300,000 hospital bill under the silver “affordable” health care plan, you would own $90,000!

I was lied to. I can’t keep my plan. You can bet I’m voting to get rid of every Democrat I can in 2014 and 2016.

Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will not even talk to the Republicans about modifying the Affordable Care Act, so please wake up and realize it is the Democrats who are responsible for this abomination of our health care and any government shutdown.

So please, let’s call it what it really is: the Democrat Health Care Plan. Remember that when you vote!

"I was lied to. I can’t keep my plan"

Obviously, I can not prove this guy is wrong, but I don't see how Obamacare can force one off of an already existing plan.

jack234.....""free government handout"? I thought Republicans were saying it would bee so expensive. Republicans need to stick to one story."

What an idiotic comment. EXPENSIVE TO THER TAXPAYERS AND WORKING PEOPLE WHO FORMERLY HAD GOOD INSURANCE OR WHO ARE NOW PAYING DOUBLE THEIR PREVIOUS INSURANCE RATES. Not to the usual suspect welfare toads who will be sucking us dry with another Democrat giveaway program.

Don't be so dense jack234. CBO calculations have already doubled the bogus estimates of cost to the taxpayers they put out prior to Obamacare passing.

Here's an example of how the Obamacare has screwed up

health coverage.

In Kentucky before Obamacare there were 30 companies selling insurance. Today there are two and one of those will not cover you if you are out of state.

Don't forget that any subsities are taxpayers money taken from the producers and given to the nonproducers. There ain't no such thing as "free" government money.

There will be almost as many uninsured under this new monstrosity as there was before it was enacted.

We had a good healthcare system

It was called Medicare for the decent moral working class retirees, and Medicaid for the few truly poor and the multitude of lazy minded "takers" of the country. It was working fine until the thief and liar who occupies the president's chair desimated it to get his name on something. Now sit back and watch what will happen to this train wreck in the next couple of years, and all you supporters will be dumbfounded, scratching your heads bald wondering who else to blame.

The major part of Obamacare that I find fault with is THE HUGH AMOUNT of tax dollars that are going to lessen the out of pocket premium costs! Aren't these hugh pay outs going to private insurance companies??!

No Compromise with evil
Unpublished

We can not negotiate with terrorists or other evils

It is common sense that you cannot compromise with terrorists and other evils. You cannot compromise with a president that has no respect for the Constitution and who usurps legislative power by granting exemptions from a law - any law. Republicans should force a vote on a law that subjects all Americans to the law with no delays and with no exceptions or exemptions. The Bill the House writes and sends to the Senate must "repeal" all delays and exemptions "passed" by the president. Force the democrats to vote up or down on such a bill and then face the music in upcoming elections.

GACopprhed "Employers all too often forget that it is the employees who make them their money"

Well when the employees end up costing the employer all his profit, what business sense is it to stay open. If you don't make a profit, then close up shop and that's what a majority of them will do. I don't go to work for free and I don't expect my employer to either.

ICL, You folks are having paroxysms about saving one of the worst, most profiteering industries in existence. Rand Paul said it outright on Sunday morning " We Republicans are trying to make sure we protect the insurance companies". #2nd in the world, lower than some Third World countries, and you still want to make sure those Doctors pay for their Mercedes, and that those insurance CEOs continue to take MILLIONS of YOUR hard earned dollars, for nothing. NOTHING!!! You want to talk about leeches? Look to you insurance companies......

You need to do a little research and become better informed on that profit issue. Last I checked, insurance companies were way down the ladder on profit. Now, beer companies were near the top.

PERFECT WAY TO PUT IT!! I know you aren't saying it ,BUT I will, "The only way this country IS EVER going to get a handle on THIS OUT-RAGEOUS cost of health care is to adopt plans like Canada and many European countries!!" This paying for Mercedes, colf club dues, million dollar homes, AND ALL OF THE other un-necessaries LIKE out-rageous yearly salaries MUST COME TO AN END!!!!!!!!!

Insurance companies are like

Insurance companies are like lawyers - you love to hate them until you need them.

With regards to employers, the converse can be said on the employees - they forget that without the employer, they wouldn't have a job.

Sorry I have to keep repeating this

GaCopperhead, I explained to you the other day why we rank where we do, and it has nothing to do with our health care, It has to do with how we keep statistics and segments of our population. America has received more Nobel prizes in medicine than the rest of the WORLD COMBINED!!!! We rank where we do because of infant mortality, in AMERICA ANY CHILD BORN WITH A HEART BEAT AND SUCKING AIR IS A LIVE BIRTH !!! I wrote slowly so you could under stand! In most other countries children born with defects that are incompatible with life are not considered a live birth. Children in other countries have to survive a given number of days to be a live birth. NOT IN AMERICA so we have higher infant mortality rates. Gang bangers and kids who commit urban crim like the idiots that think the Polar Bear game is fun till they get shot or sliced and diced bring down our life expectancy. Please get some more lies these are getting old!!!

GEE, isn't it amazing how peope listen to Rush?

The Cleveland Clinic is following Rush Limbaugh? The Cleveland Clinic specifically stated that it is cutting employee's hours, cutting it's budget etc. because of Obama care! I must of missed the part of the press conference where they said they wanted to fall in step with Rush Limbaugh!

When I think of a non-profit, I see an organization that payes everyone a reasonable, LIVING WAGE, and does not pay the upper folks multi-times what the real workers make!

I can see your point about the ultimate cost of Obamacare. I really don't see how the budget is going to handle it!! HOWEVER, I take issue with you about doctors' and insurance CEOs' salaries. No one forced them to go to college, so why shouldn't they be a little more human and take A REASONABLE salary!

@t3bledsoe

I think I'm starting to see where you're coming from....hard work should not be rewarded with commensurate salaries.

If children do good in school, study hard, go to college for 8+ years, go through the rigors of residency, work around the clock, possibly have several hundred thousand dollars in education debt, pay several thousand dollars in malpractice insurance, etc. to become good physicians, they shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labors and earn what you're describing as an "unnecessary salary".

Gotcha.
