Cruz is the new McCarthy

  • Follow Letters

McCarthyism is on the march again from within the leadership of the Republican Party. Oh no, you say, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is from the Tea Party, not a Republican leader. Tell that to Sarah Palin and others who argue that Cruz is the new leader of the Republicans.

They point out how Cruz took the Senate floor for 21 hours, arguing that he had to stop Obamacare funding by shutting down the government. They are proud that he said that, unlike the world that refused to stop the Nazis in 1940, he would be the hero of America and stop Obamacare funding. (He is equating Obamacare to Hitler killing 6 million Jews and Christians.)

Is this man a fraud, as he was called by Republican U.S. Rep. Peter King of New York? I don’t think so. I have no doubt that he believes what he says and ultimately will resort to name-calling and characterizing those who oppose him as unpatriotic.

Like Joe McCarthy, he uses scare tactics to bully his way to the television news screens, despite all logic that these tactics are not only abusive but full of falsehoods. Like McCarthy in the 1950s, he is a dangerous zealot who will capture the ugliest right-wingers to his side, to the detriment of America. Why else would he argue to keep millions from Obamacare, including children younger than 26 of parents with health care, and those with chronic diseases who now are dropped from care? He as a senator has the best of health care, but will lie and spread propaganda to prevent Americans from having the same.

Fortunately, Republicans such as John McCain and most Democratic senators have figured him out. They know he doesn’t care if the government shuts down because it would satisfy his right-wing buddies who will, in their hatred for Obama and Obamacare, sacrifice the fiscal responsibilities of our government and destroy its integrity.

This time around, Cruz will be stopped. But hold on to your horses – he is just beginning his march on Obamacare, Social Security, food stamps, labor, immigration and the other programs that make this country the strongest there is.

We went through the McCarthy era, and we learned what a demagogue in power can do.

We also know that we have to beware of Cruz and his policies. This includes the Republicans, who have much at stake in coming elections and need to regain control of their party or again lose favor with the voters.

I didn't see the writer of this letter before I read it. Before I even got to the end of the letter, I knew who had written it; Mr. Greenbaum!!

The "Democrats can do no wrong" man. The "All republicans are evil" man. Mr. Greenbaum, do you ever come up with an original thought? Do you find appealing to you, to go around repeating the typical left wing talking points? Does it make you feel intelligent?

"Like Joe McCarthy, he uses scare tactics to bully his way to the television news screens, despite all logic that these tactics are not only abusive but full of falsehoods."

You mean scare tactics, like when they had Paul Ryan literally pushing old ladies in wheel chairs, off a cliff?

You mean scare tactics like telling the elderly and poor that republicans don't care at all about them, and would literally let them starve to death? You mean these scare tactics? You mean scare tactics like telling people we WANT children to DIE, because we don't want to give up our 2nd amendment rights? You mean scare tactics like that?

What about Texas representative Wendy Davis that did the EXACT same thing to an abortion bill? Now, her filibuster only lasted 13 hours, but it's happened from both sides; numerous times. But what? It's ok for her to do it, because it was a bill restricting abortion she was filibustering; now THAT is a worthy cause, right? We should all get behind her on that, correct?

But to filibuster the all power Obama's Care; that is pure evil itselt!! How dare we stand against the messiah Care!!

Mr. Greenbaum, it is YOU who make me sick!! Certainly not Ted Cruz.

Tweaking the Democratic Big Fat Nose

I love the way Ted Cruz can tweak the big, fat, red, vein showing, alcoholic nose of the cirrhotic Democrats.

But for more direct incidents of calling people Nazis, let’s look right across the river, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian compared Nikki Haley to Adolf Hitler’s mistress at a delegation breakfast.

“She was down in the bunker a la Eva Braun,” Harpootlian reportedly said, referring to Haley’s daily news briefings inside a basement studio at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

In California the Democratic Party Chief John Burton called Paul Ryan's convention remarks like the tactics of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Pat Lehman, the dean of the Kansas Democratic delegation to their national convention said about Mitt Romney’s speeches: “It’s like Hitler said, if you’re going to tell a lie, tell a big lie, and if you tell it often enough and say it in a loud enough voice, some people are going to believe you.”

The fact is Obamacare is such a poor plan it’s turning the working class against the Democrats. Greenbaum and other socialists want to deflect the criticism.

The last paragraph ...

sums up the reason for Mr. Greenbaums' letter. Democrats are afraid of Ted Cruz, but not the Republicans. They know that the Republicans are not all that different from them, but Cruz threatens to pull the party back to where is once was and should be.

Just look at what Greenbaum says. "Republicans, who have much at stake in coming elections." It's not about what right for America. It's all about staying in power and maintaining the status quo.

The Tea Party view is: Change is needed. Change won't happen with the current parties, so there needs to be either a new party or to take back the one we had.

Cruz, Lee, Paul and others in a small but growing group of "leaders" scares Democrats like Mr. Greenbaum to death.

Go Cruz!

Comments ...

I wanted to comment, but the previous comments captured most all my thoughts, except that this was one of the most vicious letters I've ever read. I guess the writer is hardening the unthinking dependency base of his party.

I'm gratified to learn that Christians can now be a part of the WWll Holocaust. There were quite a few million non-Christians and non-Jews killed too, before we even get to soldier casualties in all theaters of the war.

I doubt that there are many people in this part of the country who listen to what Rep. Peter King the New York RINO has to say. God bless Texas!

Resort to name calling, ROFLMAO, you mean like they have called Cruz jihadist, ad infinitum. I mean that is choice. Snicker. Cruz is no McCarthy that is a huge stretch, but he is ambitious and slick just like Obama. A lot like Obama with the rhetoric and playing on interest groups.

Just like Obama who captured the ugliest lefties to the detriment of America. I agree after Obama we don't need another zealot in office. Cruz is Obama's anti-thesis mirror image.

Two words - Mein Kampf
Unpublished

Two words came to mind as I hastily browsed this letter. Greenbaum and the mudstream media are students of Mein Kampf - if you tell a lie often enough and loudly enough it becomes a truth to the ill-informed and/or the dishonest observers of the history that they rewrite. Greenbaum, like Obama, McCain, King, Reid, et.al, are besmirched pots calling the kettle black. For shame!

Name-calling like the

Name-calling like the McCarthy comparison achieves nothing.

If the threats to shut down the gov't are followed through on, Ted Cruz will have his own unique place in history as the person who led the charge to do so in an attempt to avoid operating under the legislative process defined by the Constitution.

I hope all the self-proclaimed Constitution supporters who back Cruz are at least being honest with themselves about this. This is explicitly a move to hold the Constitutional gov't hostage to force an outcome that they cannot achieve by following the Constitutional legislative process.

The level of contempt for the Constitution that would be demonstrated by a shutdown to force a legislative result will be incredibly hard, politically, to come back from at the national level.

Cruz's speech wasn't a filibuster, just a long speech

Geez, another of the every 30 day writers. Oh boy. Cruz is more like the new Bachmann. He's smarter, craftier, more sinister, and has a bad case of narcissistic personality disorder. He thinks he's better and more intelligent than anyone, and won't listen to the advice of those who know more and are more experienced. He's dangerous. He'll destroy anything around him, including this country just to attempt to prove he's right. People better start picking up on this right now. A religious zealot who thinks he can do no wrong has no place in politics.

Cruz...

Poor Greenbaum!! He is following the Alinsky rules. But in fairness, I have to say that in the past couple of months if I use the words racist, bigot I am told I don't know what those words mean. So too, this journOlist either doesn't know or won't know what McCarthy really means....the Left gave in to communism in the 20-60's then lied about it. Many still do. But if you guys remember, when the Soviet Union fell and its archives where opened, guess whose names appeared on the membership list of the communists? Why exactly those that the drunk McCarthy accused...all are dead now, I think, so maybe the progressive feel that they can resurrect McCarthy to make a point...unfortunately this isn't the 40' or even the 60's anymore and most American that aren't educationally or ideological challenged will see througth the new smoke screen. I know..I know..it is almost impossible for progressives aka democrats nee marxists to comprehend the reality of the truth...the Internet has brought us freedom from the constraints imposed on us by the 98%, by their own admission, extreme leftist radicalism....so we can do our own "learning", researching and knowing the truth!!

I think both progressives and

I think both progressives and conservatives are whacked. We have progressives, who other than Obama, seem reluctant to support or implement the law they now realize voters hate, and conservatives who want to waste their time with some symbolic action of trying to appeal the law and pulling an Obama where they would let Americans suffer because of their ideology of "fairness"-Obama has some nerve calling them on something he has done too. If there is a govt shut down I will be ticked at both parties, but esp Rep. But it takes two to tango and both share equal guilt-it is just my bias

As Predictable As Sunrise....

...is the left-wing attacks on any Conservative politician who uses the TRUTH to challenge their agenda. Invoking the twisted, left-wing version of McCarthy as they always do.

Truth of the matter is that history shows McCarthy was absolutely right. There were then (and are NOW) plenty of communist sympathizers and communist activists throughout society, especially in the political left in Washington, in the media, and in the Entertainment industry.
