Heaven has no short cuts

  • Follow Letters

I am awestruck that Pope Francis would say or imply that you do not have to believe in Christ or worship God to go to heaven – that if you “know good from evil” you have a free pass. We are not here to allow people to tell us that your sin is more important than our faith.

The pope also said atheists can go to heaven if they meet “certain moral obligations.” This is wisdom bringing confusion to a crowd of ignorance – ignorance of common sense and the facts. Where comes the faith and responsibility of Scripture? Is the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ now deemed meaningless? If atheists can take a short cut to heaven, why not the lowly murderer? He can say that he knows good from evil and chooses evil; will he go to heaven?

Evil has no logic so the pope’s comments can only come to an illogical conclusion that the old 1980s animated film was right – that all dogs can go to heaven.

The Pope is taking the church

The Pope is taking the church of Paul and making it the church of Christ. Which church would you rather follow?

This Pope is nothing more

This Pope is nothing more than a progressive leftist!! I'm not catholic and it still makes me sick to hear him speak!! How is that diversity working out for the Catholic Church??? Everyone was crying in emotions because of the first hispanic Pope; well how do they feel now? Learning they've got the most liberal Pope imaginable!! Hey, it's Ok to be gay; God doesn't condemn that!! Hey, it's ok to have an abortion; God doesn't condemn that!! Hey, it's ok to be athiest, God doesn't condemn that!! Hey, it's ok to live HOWEVER you want; God doesn't condemn anything!!

THAT, sounds exactly like this POPE!! It also sounds like the LEFTIST Motto!! Do whatever feels right, don't worry about consequences, there is none!! There is no God, therefore there is no moral right and wrong, so just have fun people!!

This man is nothing more than

This man is nothing more than well disguised athiest!! God warned us about these in Revelation and MANY other places. Those "who CLAIM to be Christian but are NOT and do lie!!" Also saying "Many shall come in MY name, believe them NOT, go not forth to meet them." Be very careful my friends of which "Christians" you believe. Because CONFUSION AND DECEPTION is their biggest weapons.

In a Country which is still 80% Christian, they don't do a lot of damage to claim to be Athiest and denounce Christ, it just wouldn't work. Where they do MORE damage to to CLAIM to be "Christian" twisting and turning the scirpture to APPEAR themselves to be the more compassionate Christians; thereby fooling uneducated Christians into believing THEIR version of Christianity!! They will do anything and try any trick to make themselves APPEAR more "Christian".

That's why Christ taught us "By their FRUITS ye shall know them." Because WORDS can deceive many, but you SHOULD be able to tell them by their WORKS, IF you pay attention and CARE!!

In Norway, religion is just history. The State is their "god".

No one attends church. All of their needs are met by the socialist state which derives its resources from 60% income tax and 25% use tax. Oh, and everyone contributes to this cradle to grave fund. Sort of a forced savings account. Oh, and they do not have a military defense force. Oh, and they do not try to dominate the world.

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. "

It may have been written by Paul but it was inspired by the Holy Spirit which Christ gives us when we become a child of His. John 14:26 assures us "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."

It is not, nor will it ever be, Paul's church because the Church is the Bride of Christ.

The writings of the gospel

The writings of the gospel and those of Paul differ in myriad, important, ways. Paul founded the church. It has largely followed his teachings where they diverged from those of Christ over the last 2000 years. Now, the Pope is reconciling that fact. For example, Christ never recommends making women second-class citizens, nor does he recommend excommunicating gays. Christ teaches to refrain from judging and rebuking, whereas Paul teaches the opposite. Christ teaches that accepting God and following the Golden Rule are first and foremost, and that all the law follows from those two things. Paul teaches, well, other things that some churches have come to accept as superceding the two tenets of Christ's teachings. I have always accepted the teachings of Christ as being first and foremost, and support these changes by the Pope 100%, and I support them specifically because they are the teachings of Christ, and they keep their priorities straight. Do you really think that an atheist, who followed all behavioral teachings of Christ, will fall afoul of the Father and be denied entrance to heaven? Do you think he will be cast into hell while someone who accepts Christ and figuratively spits on women and gays his whole life will be accepted? If so, you follow a different God than I do.

I think one of the problems we have as we hear and read

what this new Pope is saying is we are getting filtering through the media.
This is a media that will print and say what it thinks it wants him to say to support it's liberal/progressive/left wing bias.

I have heard some priests explain what he has said and it is different from what we get from the media. It's sort of like reading an article on something and not getting the key portion and truth of it until the 12th paragraph.

I am conflicted on this new Pope because I only know about what he says from what I get from the media. Granted, he is different in his life style. Was he a PC pick? After all he is the first non=European Pope in 1300 years or so. Since I'm not Catholic I don't have a lot of interacting with those who have more of an indepth knowledge of his positions.

As to WBC's well thought out comments, I'd have to do some research in order to discuss them. On the surface I think I have some disagreement but not the time or space to address them.

No hate? No judgment? No

No hate? No judgment? No vengeance? Love for all? How dare he? Why that sounds like...... Jesus. The church goes back to its beginnings instead of the money making hate machine that man has changed it into. What a concept. "By their fruits ye shall know them." What could that phrase mean? Those who claim to be "christian", wear it on their sleeve, shove it down your throat, and shout it from the rooftops vs. those who ACT like a Christian and show love and kindness to their fellow man. The, " Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." kind of person. The current church has way too many of the former and needs a whole lot more of the rest. By their fruits.

Pope's are getting to be as ignorant as presidents. Christians aren't suppose to judge-just like the grace shown them, christians aren't to hate but love everyone especially their enemies-I know lots and lots of christians just like this but I also know others who aren't. I don't think any one secular person exemplifies all secular persons either. But God does hate sin and he will judge is clearly stated. Pope is preaching salvation by deeds, which Christ clearly stated no there only way is through him. The Pope isn't a Christian apparently and has become a universalist.

Judge not least ye be judged.

Judge not least ye be judged. But just as sure as we aren't to judge God will judge us is stated repeatedly. We should love everyone because we have no clue who is faithful and who isn't, who is making an attempt to turn from sin and who isn't, and who has their name in the Book of Life. Sounds like the Pope maybe heading towards Islam because Islam claims all other religions were God attempting to connect but they failed and so the next step will be only the Quran is God's word and the only religion.

It's no surprise

that so few people actually have the slightest clue what the Pope was saying in this culture driven by sound bytes. Some of you clearly think he is a social progressive and has abandoned the Faith. He hasn't, but somehow, I don't think you will bother to investigate that any further than what has been tossed out for you consumption by others equally ignorant or malevolent toward the Catholic Church.

Yep, no surprises here, even from our supposed brothers and sisters in Christ.
