Syria strategy disastrous

  • Follow Letters

America’s commander in chief sternly stated that he is drawing a red line with Syria, only to now lie about ever saying it. We know he said it. We saw the video of him saying it. This Nobel Peace Prize “winner” is all guns a-blazing to bomb, strike – whatever – Syria over the use of chemical weapons against its own people.

This president is lobbying Congress and the world to support attacking Syria in retaliation for the Syrian government killing Syrian people – even though he did absolutely nothing in retaliation for an American consulate in Libya being attacked and Americans being killed in said attack. Suppose that the Syrian leadership is ousted and the regime friendly to al-Qaida ascends to power. What then?

We have no national interests in Syria. That said, if this regime is ousted, what will take over is exponentially worse and will indeed become a national interest. Isn’t it funny that when President George W. Bush had the support of more than 50 nations and Congress to deal with Iraq, the liberals rained condemnation upon him for being a warmonger?

Well, what say you about the Nobel recipient? And before you respond and lie about there being no weapons of mass destruction, there were. I was in Kuwait and Iraq during that time and remember where I was when word came down that some were found, and it was suspected that some were sent to Syria.

Plain and simple, this is an egg farm on the collective face of the media, the Democratic Party and diehard Obama loyalists who hang on his every word regardless of reality or reason.

During the past presidential campaign, speaking about Mitt Romney, Vice President Joe Biden said, “He said it was a mistake to set an end date for our warriors in Afghanistan and bring them home. He implies by the speech that he’s ready to go to war in Syria and Iran.” Who’s ready to go to war with Syria, Joseph?

I’ll say this about Biden: During the 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign, he said of then-Sen. Obama: “The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

Then there’s Secretary of State John Kerry, who just a few short days ago pontificated, “When I was in the United States Senate, I supported military action in any number of occasions, including Grenada ... .” Lie! He wasn’t in the Senate when America invaded Grenada.

Does anyone in this administration have any common sense or the ability to be truthful?

What's your big answer then

What's your big answer then Lee? Let Assad keep killing his people? Let the rebellion continue and rebels that side with Al-Qaeda (approx 15%-20% of the rebels, but the best armed and the most ruthless) win and take over Syria? Should we help the rebels who don't side with Al-Qaeda? It doesn't matter. No matter what Obama does, you're going to say the opposite. Upset that Assad's weapons weren't provided by Reagan like Saddam's? Oh well. Every President can't provide chemical weapons to bloodthirsty dictators to use on his own people and sell weapons to murdering rebels who murder and rape nuns. Oh, and be the same President who armed Al-Qaeda. The trifecta. Who would vote for a president like that. Not me, that's for sure. Surely you didn't. That might be why you're so bitter. It could just be the skin color thing though. I couldn't imagine going around with that much hate for someone. It has to eat at your soul. The inability to realize that bad things have happened under every President and the blindness to see the flaws in only one. I just don't see how someone with so much hate can work as an educator. Does it bleed over to kids whose parents are Obama supporters? Can you turn off this much hate? For the kids sake, I really hope so. From the many letters, it almost seems compulsive. I'd worry about that if I were a parent. You might try to seek counseling, read the Bible, just try to lighten up and see that none of us are perfect. Not Obama, not Bush, not Reagan, not me, and not you. Just try to lighten up on the hate and venom. Peace.

And no matter what he says, you will cheer lead right along? So what's the difference?

I do like how you are acknowledging that Iraq had WMD's now.....now that it fits your argument. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Answer

“What’s the answer,” asked Bod, “let Assad keep killing his people?”

“Yes,” answered LL.

Technically, Assad is not killing his people. He is killing people who are trying to kill him. He is killing people who want to take over the government of Syria. That is what presidents are supposed to do. The people attacking the government of Syria include al Qaeda. The people attacking the government of Syria include the Muslim Brotherhood.

The government of Syria is not run by Sharia law, but instead is somewhat of a secular state. It has allowed all religions to be practiced. Assad has protected Christians in Syria from being killed by Islamic extremists. In the towns taken over by the rebels, terrorism and persecution against the Christians in those towns is underway. “Convert to Islam or die!” is the cry of the Muslim Brotherhood.

We need to offer military aid to Assad and his government.

This is the most incompetent administration we have ever

had whether one is talking domestic or foreign policy.

Biden is an idiot who always thinks he is the smartest in the room. He was put on the ticket to give obama some foreign policy credibility. That's a joke because every position on foreign policy he has taken since being elected to congress has been wrong.

Hillary was a failure as Secretary of State from day one. She was the impetus behind the "Arab Spring" and that has been a disaster. Her chief of staff was an Iranian Muslim who supported the Muslim Brotherhood. Hillary couldn't even get the proper translation for "reset" when giving a button to the Russians. She has always been a leftist and tried to spread all aspects of her philosophy world wide as she tried to travel to every country in the world. Her entire background from her college days until today has been one of socialism and marxism. She was even fired by the democrats from being a staffer on the Watergate Committee for lying and doing other unsavory things.

Kerry is a wind bag who is as impressed with his pomposity as obama is with his and loves to hear the sound of his own voice just as much. He built his reputation as an anti-American war protester who lied about what he saw and heard. He has continued that all the way through his political career until today. He does have a difficult job of implementing a president's policies that change on every breeze of the political wind.

Obama is incapable of thinking of all the consequences of any strike on Syria. He has backed himself in a corner while once again thinking just the power of his personality could sway anyone. That was his position as he became president because it had always worked while he was a community agitator.

Let's see, how many people killed in Grenada by US and how many US died?

How long to 'pacify' Grenada by the Great US Military Machine, working against a Cuban construction detail? How many US Army folk having to use personal cell phones to call in support because of the bumbling of the mighty Reagan Military Machine?

How many Marines killed in Beiruit by Cowboy Reagan's policy? How many USN pilots returned by Jesse Jackson after Chickhawk Reagan bombed Lebanon? How much peace actually bought by any of this warmongering?

How many US citizens killed by pursuing the current diplomatic solution to Syria's chemical weapons, backed up by the threat of military force? How many chemical attacks prevented in Jerusalem? In Dollywood? In Tea Party Ville? In whatever CloudCooKooLand McCain inhabits now?

I know all the right wingnuts here revile him, but this is exactly the kind of result ole TR would have appreciated, you know, the TR who brokered the end of the Russo-Japanese War and won the Nobel Peace Prize for it? The TR who was as good a Progressive Democrat as Obama is a Progressive Republican?

Gad, the bigots just can't keep their fantasies real...

Some of your so-called "moderate" rebels were in the NYT

in that photograph taken before they executed a group of government soldiers. Sure, Syria has been a fascist police state ever since the Ba'ath party took over, but the opposition are plainly promising something far worse.

So many ruthless killers who

So many ruthless killers who kill their citizens:Saddam, Assad, Putin, Obama for instance. Maybe other countries will interfere with our ruthless leader and initiate UN sanctions. We have one of the largest stockpiles of WMD, if not the largest, we use are weaponry often, the UN has petitioned for violations of human rights against US. Hopefully we won't give other nations ideas against US.

Even liberals can not argue with this! I remember seeing it when he was in the press room. And as for his credibility, I don't think handing the reins of this horse over to Russia helps him any. However, this seems to be only non-military solution as of today.

Bod also may be wrong on his numbers

Bod may also be wrong on his numbers. Seems Kerry's 15 to 20% has been called into question. Maybe that opposition forces have up to 50 % jihadies in their midst. According to a Reuters news story dated 09/05/2013 Kerry's numbers don't jive with western intelligence estimates. Rep Michael McCaul says his briefings indicate that up to 50% may be jihadists. www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/05/us-syria-crisis-usa-rebels...

Liberals see this gassing as something that should not be allowed just to "slide"!!

Liberals only hate right wing dictators

Liberals don't hate dictators, they love communist dictators. Chi Guevara is practically a Saint, all these idiots who don't even understand who and what he was running around with pictures of him on their Tee shirts. The clown in Argentina who nearly destroyed the country was an Obama buddy. Obama supported the idiot in Honduras who was pushed out of office for violating the Honduran constitution. Give me a break!!! Liberals only find right wing dictators repulsive. Liberals kissed up to Castro for years! http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oG7o51GDdSNQMAw6YPxQt.;_ylu=X3o...
