March about this issue

  • Follow Letters

I have said from the very first day that a national health-care system was even whispered about in Washington: Let’s have what our members of Congress have. There is a “national” plan out there for those folks, subsidized by our taxes. And as far as I know, those benefits follow them when they leave office.

What about the rest of us? Folks want something to protest about? This is the issue to march about – something people of all races can come together about. I personally think the insurance industry got in bed with our elected officials, and guess who is going to come out on top? It surely won’t be those of us who are being affected by it, or the health-care industry.

Take that to Washington and march about it.

I remember as a kid my father

I remember as a kid my father was a mill worker. He was able to get insurance as a benefit from the mill. This was a time when the Federal Government had little influence in the healthcare system and there were very little regulations imposed on Doctors, hospitals, and the insurance companies. As the Feds. began to tack on regulation after regulation on all aspects of the healthcare system, costs began to rise. These costs were passed on to the consumer. The feds. actions caused a catastrophic rise in the cost of healthcare by sticking their fingers in it for the past 50 years. And look at it now. You would have to be totally out of touch not to see this correlation. It was always the goal of the Marxist in the Democrat party to find some foothold that would limit our freedoms and the Healthcare system was the one thing they were able to wreck in order to gain such control. Now in the present here comes Obama care, the final nail in the coffin that will throw us all into a single payer ( the Feds.) healthcare system. The one failed government run system in all socialist countries worldwide is now being thrust upon us. Go to Canada or England and see what is instore for us. Been there seen that. You will not like it a bit.

The root of the problem

with healthcare, higher education, etc. is that they are way too expencive for our society. They are out of whack. Have you ever paid $480 (after tax money) for a tetnis shot? I have! It's already outragious, and government intervention ALWAYS makes things a lot worse.

Obama is not the problem. We all know what he stands for. Congress is the problem for not calling for his impeachment or holding him accountable for anything.

Localguy55 makes a good

Localguy55 makes a good point. Almost any job used to provide health care for the workers and their families. The most basic jobs in the mills and factories provided health insurance. The major change to the system that now makes health insurance so expensive is government intrusion and programs.

Defund Obamacare

Defund Obamacare - It will bankrupt the nation. Our congressmen are exempt of this heinous plan. Why is it being shoved on the American people? Makes me sick that we all have to pay the consequences for the inept people who voted for Nobama, but yet those in Washington get a free pass.

stinking mess

PS - Best way to get people on insurance: employ them. But how can we employ them if this abomination of administration is strangling companies financially? Now we have companies dropping insurance on their employees because of Obamacare. So who's to blame? Some will blame the corporations and label them as greedy. In reality the government and this president is setting the stage to strangle companies financially. If Obama would focus on the ECONOMY then companies would grow, they would hire, then people could get insurance, and we would not have this stinking mess. If there is ONE promise Obama has kept, it s making more and more people dependent of government, or him, as he claims to be the hero of this nation, and sadly some people see him this way as well.

Bledsoe, who ever told you that life is fair. People make choices and have to live with them. Just because a person makes bad decisions why should other people have to pay for them?

Even Hillary admitted there

Even Hillary admitted there are no 47 million who can't afford health insurance-half chose not to have it. So remember that Obama provides misinformation or just lies all the time about various issues. In reality there are only 8-10 million who can't afford it or are being denied. Health care in America ties to our culture too, like health disparities are often rooted in cultural habits. We need more preventive care and less specialist, which means paying preventive care more and specialist less to drive aspiring physicians into what had been less lucrative medicine. Educated americans are more healthier but we need everyone to adopt healthier habits rather than picking up the pieces after years of abusing your body.

"BUT 47 million citizens

"BUT 47 million citizens WITHOUT health insurance IS UNFAIR also !"

So the CBO says that after FULL implementation of Obamacare we will still have OVER 30 MILLION citizens without healthcare.

47 million without healthcare BEFORE Obamacare, 30 million without healthcare AFTER Obamacare, 308,745,538 total population. So, to get freebie healthcare for 17 million more people, WE RUINED THE QUALITY and DOUBLED THE COST of healthcare for the 260 million people who had REALLY GOOD HEALTHCARE insurance. What a deal. I assume that original 47 million people are the same 47 million welfare leeches that are sitting at home, watching TV and getting fat off of our FOOD STAMPS too.

I hate to see what the hell the Democrats will come up with to make us pay for the leftover 30 million WHO STILL WILL NOT HAVE HEALTHCARE.

47 million people not having healthcare is NOT unfair when it is the same 47 million people who won't lift a finger to even FEED THEMSELVES. What's unfair is hard working families being forced to FEED and MAINTAIN TOTAL LIFE SUPPORT to sorry individuals who sit on the butts and wait for the government to squeeze the taxpayers to provide for their sorry arses. THAT IS WHAT IS UNFAIR !!!!

10 million, 30 million, 47 million

Whatever it is, why not a plan to solve that problem without affecting the lives of the other 300 million who were doing just fine? It was never about providing insurance for those folks. It was about gov't control. Too late now.

Absolutely justthefacts.

Absolutely justthefacts. Progressives are dedicated to create larger more intrusive government (cause most Americans are too stupid to know what's good for them-yikes) that regulates the economy and our daily lives (we are like cattle to them). Then Obama is further dedicated to social justice as mentioned earlier. The Dems play on interest groups like the environmentalist and feminists but that is just political and isn't a real issue of concern. "Fundamental change" refers to uprooting the foundation and creating a completely new one. I'd argue why throw the baby out with the bath water and let's just fix the problems we have rather creating new ones in a new system. But no the problem is just an excuse to completely change all of it is the progressive mindset. What an incredible waste of time to reinvent the wheel at every turn. Then another dimension is our President is a closed minded ideologue who can't learn anything new because he believes he knows it all. Blindly leading us into oblivion with an agenda-how many times has he mentioned he would suffer financial or job losses for his notion of "fairness". So he admits he would let America or people suffer because of some social justice concept of fairness-I guess some people are OK with that). Obama doesn't represent Americans as he has no interest in average Americans (they are just puppets to be used in his game of change so he lies to them and manipulates them) only in pursuing his warped goal of creating a new America. So you can bet he would let the unions, environmentalist, feminist, or anyone else suffer too if it got in the way of his agenda. Supporters should consider his words and actions because he has no loyalty.

Look!! There are good points to both sides!!

The only thing to ask ourselves, is HOW DO WE FIX IT? What can we do to bring the OUTRAGEOUS cost of healthcare down; while not ruining the health care system or NEEDING government involvement? Any suggestions? Because I sure don't know how to fix it, and I don't believe anyone in Washington does either!!

Dichotomy, you've got some really good points. I see much of this with my own eyes. About a year ago, one of the bigger drug dealers in the area was arrested for a misdemeanor drug offense. A few years prior to this, a group of thugs did a home invasion on his house, attempting to rob him of his drugs and cash from selling drugs (admitted by the suspects). He wouldn't give up the goods and they shot him numerous times. Instead of calling 911 he had family members take him to the hospital; probably because they had to get rid of the drugs and money in his house first!!

My point is; during this misd. drug arrest, I discovered he is on DISABILITY for those gun shot wounds!! Getting a $1,100.00 check a month from US, while this guy is still selling dope!!

You can't help those who HONESTLY need it, for the pieces of FILTH like this!! This is just one small example of MILLIONS!! These people are a VIRUS to society!! We need a cure for this disease!!

But I also know people who work two or three jobs, just to survive!! I live on a Deputies salary; so I know what it's like to go the grocery store and spend $100.00 and walk out with 4 bags!! I also know what it's like to NEED healthcare, but can't afford it!! I've needed ankle surgery for years now; but can't afford the cost of surgery, even AFTER insurance pays their share!! I also can't afford to be out of work for 8-10 weeks recovery time!!

Not long ago, I had an accident on a Bicycle; at Grovetown trails at Euchee Creek. Went over the handle bars and thought my wrist was broken. The ER did X-Rays on one elbow and both wrists, which were all hurting bad. The X-Rays were negative and I just had severely sprained wrists!! Doctor wrapped my injuries and told me to go a pharmacy and get wrist guards that will prevent me from bending my wrists. That's ALL they did and the bill was $1700.00. I believe this was JUST the ER bill; I THINK the radiology will bill me seperately!! But I could be mistaken on that!

The balances are out of WHACK in this Country!! When you have sports athletes making $300,000.00 A DAY!! But our protectors (including military, police, fire, EMT's) can't afford health care, something is BAD WRONG!!! When you have greedy business owners, buying their wives and kids brand new SUV's, EVERY year; but then say they are going to cut employees because of providing health care, something is BAD WRONG!!

Yes, I believe in freedom and capitalism; but sometimes it makes me sick to my stomach!! I certainly DO NOT believe Government can fix ANY of this, they couldn't successfully manage a hot dog stand!! Not if it's taxpayer money!! Now if it's their OWN money, they would probably be fiscal!!

So again; could someone please tell me how to fix this mess?

Folks, it ain't about health care! It's about power and

dependency. The more people the liberals-progressives can get hooked on the teat of the federal government the easier it is for them to stay in and gain power. Keep in mind...they think we are stupid and need them to take care of us as a parent would a minor child.

As far as the answer to the "health care" situation, the answer is easy. You allow people to buy health insurance across state lines with no mandates just as one now buys automobile insurance. Also, allow tax free health savings accounts. Make individuals responsible for their health car just as they are now for their automobile care.

Republican Representative from GA, Tom Price, a doctor by the way, put forth a bill in the House before obamacare was ever induced. Check it out.

Health care costs so much now because of the government interference and mandates. If a person pays for their own operation out of pocket it can cost 75% or more less than if one uses insurance.

Once again, as is the case in most situations, individual responsibility and free market solves the problem.

Lets be fair now.

Someone name a few things, that are business related, that the CONGRESS got involved in, that ended up being cheaper to the public afterwards.

Remember I said Congress not the Court System.

Time to educate yourself. Biz's figures are right. A few years ago a study was conducted by the Wharton School of Business on the medically uninured in America. The conclusion was that only about 10,000,000 Americsans were uninsured because they could not afford it.

Yeah - Like that 's ever gonna happen. Even the venerable Charlie Norwood went into office talking of a self imposed term limit.

Didn't take him long to succumb to the allure of power and prestige.

bledsoe and other well meaning progressives

should take notice.. THERE IS NO PERFECT SOLUTION!

No matter what the system, someone is going to fall through the cracks. It just so happens that, other than to provide for the defense of the country, government does almost nothing well.

In their relentless and failed pursuit of the perfect, liberals often destroy the good.

You'd think, with examples all over the world of failed national health care systems, they would pause and reconsider but they never do.

They cherry-pick the few successes of those failed systems and hold them up as a promise of some sort of socialist Utopian dream come true.

A glaring weakness of liberalism is that they are always ABSOLUTELY certain that they can make socialism work where all others have failed.

They won't, but they may cripple the best existing system in the process.
