First, we celebrate the outstanding “Russell Joel Brown: Broadway and Beyond” benefit concert held Aug. 18 at Georgia Regents University’s Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre, where the community came together to raise funds in support of the JNSA. Three Augustans – Jessye Norman, Karen Brown and Russell Joel Brown, who have made their careers in the performing arts – were on stage together for the very first time. The quality of that concert was remarkable.
We also celebrate the fact that our students are meeting and exceeding the standards for the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests as administered by the school system. The school recognizes the importance of academics as well the value of artistic development. The students are studying and learning in a very safe environment with a highly qualified and dedicated faculty and director.
We are very proud of the Rachel Longstreet Foundation, which sponsors the JNSA. The board works untiringly to see that the needs of the school are met. Further, the Friends of the JNSA contribute immeasurably in support of the school.
The JNSA is a very viable component of our community, and we invite the community to continue to support it.
