By the establishment of the Jessye Norman School of the Arts 11 years ago, hundreds of Augusta children have been exposed to the arts, and have had the opportunity to discover their gifts and talents. These children have worked with professional artists – including Russell Joel Brown, who taught music in the first year of the Jessye Norman School.
Both Jessye Norman and Russell Joel Brown believe in giving back to their hometown of Augusta. Both will appear in the “Broadway and Beyond” benefit concert at Maxwell Theatre, on Georgia Regents University’s Summerville campus, at 5 p.m. Aug. 18.
One way for Augusta to honor Jessye Norman is to support the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, and help this be a living legacy to her.
