Boost Lincolnton coverage

  • Follow Letters

No doubt the readership in Aiken and other South Carolina cities makes up a sizable number of your subscriptions, but it would be nice for Lincolnton to be included in The Augusta Chronicle’s coverage now and then, since its residents are indeed part of the newspaper’s Georgia subscribers.

We are in the CSRA just as others but seldom, if ever, are we mentioned in the paper. Sadly, the television stations make the same mistake.

You do know it has to be

You do know it has to be "Newsworthy" to make the news, right? I know there are some VERY fine people live in Lincolnton, some of the finest in the area. But Lincolnton for the most part is a nice quiet place, which simply is NOT that newsworthy. Media outlets are NOT in the business of BORING people to death, that's the way you lose money!! They aren't doing to many articles on how to properly sit in your rocking chair on the front porch, drinking sweet tea. Enjoy Lincolnton, because it is a really nice place, but don't expect the news coverage to dramatically increase.

The last time I saw anything

The last time I saw anything about Lincoln County in the Chronicle was the rant asking what a Lincoln County resident was doing commenting about Richmond County government. I reminded the ranter THAT Lincoln Cty resident was a well known forensic accountant who probably owned more property in Richmond County than all of us put together.

Stringers?

This LTE makes me wonder if The Chronicle uses stringers as The Columbia County News Times used to do when independently owned. A local freelancer can be a cost-effective way to keep the pulse of a community such as Lincolnton.

But, as Riverman1 and myfather15 have noted, news needs to be newsworthy--something of public interest.

myfather15 has it right!

Enjoy the tranquility that you have in Lincolnton. If the local Augusta media has news stories about your community you probably won't be proud of them or it may be a tragedy.

Careful what you ask for Ms.

Careful what you ask for Ms. McGee, from the positive comments posted here people may want to relocate to such a nice, quiet town. Having been a past resident of Lincoln County I know first hand how the locals feel about "outsiders".
