Quit fanning flames of hate

The George Zimmerman trial has polarized our country and caused more damage to racial harmony. The worst part is the way many, including our most highly placed politicians, want to throw away our justice system.

One of the jurors who acquitted Zimmerman proclaims he “got away with murder,” but the state didn’t have enough evidence for them to convict! Now Attorney General Eric Holder is trying to scrape up something to charge Zimmerman with to appease the protesters, and even the president has to comment, expressing his displeasure with the verdict. Neither man has anything to do with this case, nor was it a federal matter.

How is it that the national media have become so important in our judicial system? George Zimmerman was tried and convicted by the press before he was ever arrested. Television news had racial tensions stirred up to where local officials were begging for calm before the verdict was reached. Afterward, more attention was paid to the protesters, leading to the impression that was far more important than the verdict.

Commentators such as Nancy Grace, supposedly legal experts, give the impression they would rather be executioners more than they want to be unbiased reporters. “Activists” such as the Rev. Al Sharpton try to inflame racial hatred before any evidence is presented. Remember Tawana Brawley?

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Seriously?

Will Borders, Jr. wrote - "Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?"

Gee, maybe Trayvon Martin would have loved to ask that question before being tried, found guilty and executed by George Zimmerman.

As far as the jury is conserned

People are crying foul because the jury was made up of 5 white women and one Hispanic.

Blame the prosecution.

If you've ever served on a jury (I have) the prosecution gets to choose if they want the person facing them to be on the jury. If they do they will say present the juror. (to the defense) The defense can either reject the juror or say "Seat the Juror". The defense had a finite number of times they can reject the juror before they have to go with the prosecutions recommendation.
So if you think that the defense had something to do with the seating of this jury you are wrong. I'm not even a lawyer but I know how it works from having jury duty. I guess the people making all the fuss about the jury don't know how the process works because they either don't vote or finagle their way out of serving on a jury.

Maybe it would make everyone

Maybe it would make everyone feel better to recall that in 2009 a black man, Roderick Scott of Greece, N.Y., was acquitted of manslaughter charges stemming from his shooting of an unarmed white 17-year-old, Christopher Cervini.
http://rochester.ynn.com/content/top_stories/490926/jury-finds-roderick-...

Why wasn't the nation torn apart by hatred and demonstrations? Maybe it's because Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson didn't stir things up. To my knowledge, our attorney general never prosecuted Mr. Scott for violating Mr. Cervini's civil rights.

Reality in the Country today!!!

"Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?"

This only applies when you are a minority!! If you're a white male (Which Zimmerman was NOT) then you're guilty until proven innocent!! And after you've been found innocent, you're still guilty!! White MEN, are guilty of every atrocity the world has every seen!! If it's BAD, white men are responsible for it. Matter of fact, white men are responsible for black people being the largest prison population, because of slavery. If it weren't for slavery in America; these people wouldn't be so far behind economically!! If it wasn't for the white man, black people wouldn't be living in the government housing areas. The white mans policies have suppressed black people for EVER!!! The white male is PURE EVIL!!!

Great queston..

How is it that the national media have become so important in our judicial system?

Why are they so important in our everyday life....they shouldn't be...we have been dumbed down over the years & some actually think these talking heads are very smart & have knowledge that we are missing...the truth is this...
THEY STIR THE MASSES FOR RATINGS.....money in THEIR pocket....it is a game & we are losing bigtime.

We need to DEMAND quality programs again....just don't watch the trash tv ....don't buy the products advertised on their commercials....I find myself watching HGTV & Public Broadcasting a lot lately....even Duck Dynasty is better than most trash tv spots.

Not guilty

GZ was found "not guilty" but rational people, including the jurors whom we have heard from believe the law should be changed. This is bad law.

Even gang members can have a shoot out and claim SYG. A few days ago many on this page wanted to hold blacks accountable for not addressing B-O-B-C. I am sure those critics will stand in solidarity with those who want this law changed. Just think of it as a way of curbing BOBC.

(And when are we going to address WOWC.)

Next issue.

Huh?

The Zimmerman trial didn't polarize the country, nor did it cause damage to racial harmony. That perspective only comes from the black community. This racial crap has been going on for decades with no harmony in sight. I'm sick of it, and it's only getting worse. Most blacks harbor so much hate and disrespect for our country and society, maybe they should go and start their own! And leave their welfare checks here.

The quote by the juror was edited by ABC to appear

that she said "Zimmerman got away with murder." I read the transcript and when she said that she was repeating a question that the host was asking and then she followed up that God judge Zimmerman. Her point was not that Zimmerman got away with murder. She said based on the law and the evidence he was not guilty of what he was charged.

Yesterday I happened to listen to a black talk show and the "information" being put out there is so inaccurate. Listening to the host and the callers this is the scenerio of what happened: Seventeen year old Trayvon Martin, an innocent black child had gone to the store to get his brother some skittles. On the way back home he saw a man following him in a car and he got scared. The white man got out of the car, after being told by a police dispatcher to stay in his car, and chased after Trayvon with his pistol drawn and shot Trayvon when he had run him down.

That is what is being put forth as to what happened. Discussion continued as to the blacks had to be down for the struggle that has been going on ever since slavery and nothing had really changed in this racist country.

Also, there was derision because many of the high profile black athletes such as Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan have not come out against what happened in the Zimmerman case and why they had not led a boycott. The host and callers said if these people really cared about the plight of the blacks they won't care if they lost sponsors and fans if they spoke out, but they wouldn't do it because they liked the money too much.

That, folks, is what is being fed to the ignorant, uninformed black community. Listening to these people you would think the KKK still rode and slavery still existed in some parts of the country. Shameful. Shameful. And we are supposed to have a "conversation about race"?

Gosh I knew that people call

Gosh I knew that people call certain phenotypes "races" like European, African, Asian, Hispanic, and American. Course we now know from the Human Genome Project there are no "races". But really there are only two races in America-"blacks" and everyone else who isn't is apparently now "white".
NO ONE is going to seriously talk about "race" because Dems really know that is ignorant and anti-science. Because the real issue is-SOCIAL JUSTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Race will quickly become a non-issue in a real debate. This is social justice for one ethnicity. Course I say they got to wait in line for the Native Americans first-we killed 90% of them, then a tie with African and Asian cause both started coming around 1700's and both were sold as slaves too (sadly most African slaves went to Brazil and Caribbean where they weren't treated as well in the US and most died).
But facts will do little to abate this frenzy.

A suggested read - O'Reilly Talking Points

Mr. O'Reilly laid it out a blunt to the point comment.

http://www.billoreilly.com/site/rd?satype=13&said=12&url=%2Fb%2FBill-ORe...

The following day:
A CNN reporter named: Mr. Don Lemon
agreeing and saying Mr. O'Reilly did not go far enough.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/07/27/cnns_don_lemon_bill_or...

Results:
Polls show many Americans on both sides of the color and
political line agree.

Which resulted in
Rev. Al reaching to the Race Blame Bag and calling Mr. O'Reilly a Racist and Mr. Lemon an Uncle Tom.

I think America is right. The era of race dividers disguised as Civil Rights Leaders is over.

Too many people now see
These so called leaders haven't squat for them, they only show up to stir things up for the media attention, the Donations, the Political power they wheel and deal in for self profit.

I just wish blacks would look at people living in Africa

and say to themselves, "That could have been me if my ancestors were not brought here as slaves. Thank God they were and survived it in order for me to have been born in this great country."

Of course, that will never happen because they are being fed pablum that they are victims of the "man" and the "system" and must continue "the struggle".

It is almost shameful to what level the black culture has allowed itself to sink because of allowing itself to become captive of the liberal democratic plantation.

The black family survived slavery. The black family survived Jim Crow. But, the black family could not survive liberal, democratic policies set afire by LBJ and continue to flourish today.

Al Sharpton has already

Al Sharpton has already gotten into trouble for being a racist and now he is calling out O'Reilly. Really? Well I'm no fan of O'Reilly and he maybe an arrogant pompous arse but he is no racist. But Sharpton loves using that inflammatory rhetoric and lies to drum up ratings and angst. The Attorney General should be investigating Sharpton for inciting trouble and MSNBC should fire the man for blatantly racist comments. Calling Lemon an Uncle Tom should get him fired and raise the anger of African-americans.

Dee some truth to that.

Dee some truth to that. Slavery originated in Africa-long before the European whites. Most slaves went to Brazil and Caribbean and most of them died too. Slavers in America were treated better than their counterparts elsewhere-not that I'm condoning slavery. But slavery isn't a black issue. We see today sex slavery of children. Slavery of adults is still alive and well too-still in Africa. Hmmmm seems to be correlation of where the trouble began.
