Christian leaders corrupted

  • Follow Letters

Recently in Florida, a group of atheists unveiled a monument to their unbelief in God to sit alongside a slab that lists the Ten Commandments in front of the Bradford County Courthouse. This is the result when Christian-elected officials are not sincere about their faith. They talk Christianity, but legislate like atheists. They are all things to all people, and stand only for contributions and re-election.

Because of their duplicity, Christian political leaders have capitulated to the ungodly demands of non-Christian constituents. President Obama recently issued a proclamation to honor homosexuality for a month. Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver recently issued a proclamation to honor homosexuality for a day. Marriage and the Boy Scouts have been perverted.

Now, every ungodly and lawless segment of society will demand to be officially recognized and honored. This is what happens when good Christian men become weak and spiritually compromised. Say goodbye to the United States of America. Say hello to the United States of Sodom and Gomorrah.

The Ten commandments are not the only Bibilical principals THIS Country has emplemented into law. Check out our bankruptcy laws! Where did we get the term limits like fogiving debt or at least unpaid debt not being on your record after 7 years?

Having no other gods is a commandment from God, not this Country. Because THIS Country was founded on God's knowledge that you CAN NOT force true love and obedience, because it wouldn't be TRUE it would be FORCED!! People must follow THIS commandment by CHOICE, and during this lifetime they should NOT be punished for choosing NOT to follow this commandment. MANKIND should NOT punish people for this; God will take care of that and HIS judgement is righteous, no matter what happens to them.

The problem is PEOPLES preception of PUNISHMENT!! Some see not legalizing things such as gay marriage as PUNISHMENT and it's NOT!!

I assume the Ten Commandments

I assume the Ten Commandments sign in front of the Court House was made decades ago. These are time capsules of history-are we to deface any mention of faith from speeches of Lincoln, MLKjr, etc or historical monuments from every war where a faith is mentioned. It represents freedom in America it isn't a support of any faith-after all studies indicate faiths are failing in Caucasian americans-hispanics and blacks not so, we do have free will, and now every religion from Rastafarians to Pastafarians will now feel the need to have their sign too. Rather than change history and the past we can figure how to deal with this in the future. Personally the word "Christian" is used flippantly and often used as a code word by politicians to reach an interest group-so I just as soon a politician keep their beliefs to themselves as their walk. Progressives are accused of trying to rewrite history all the time and this could be seen as support. I see progressives should balk at errors or mistakes of the past and move forward to fix the problems-like Clinton with Benghazi.

I don't totally disagree with your comment. I don't think school teachers should be teaching God's word in class either. There is a place and time for that. But mainly because I don't TRUST individuals and THEIR individual beliefs, even Christian beliefs. For example, I certainly do NOT want a member of Westboro Baptist Chruch teaching MY children about Christ!

Where I would disagree is that placing the Ten commandments in a school is "making of a law, respecting the ESTABLISHMENT of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".

BUT, that is just my opinion.

So if a public school teacher

So if a public school teacher or principal is allowed to display the ten commandments, shouldn't they also be allowed to display maybe some muslim or Hindu commandments or whatever is the equal comparison in those beliefs?? You see why its easier just to allow none of it than to open the doors to all that?

I'd rather know my child is just being taught their math and science at public school than to worry about who might be brainwashing them with their personal religious ideology.

Leave the brainwashing to me! jk

How much have thing changed in America?

This article is a graphic example of how thing have changed in America. Several boy were caught by a homeowner vandalizing his empty home to the tune of $ 40,000.00 in damages. He caught them in the act and put them in a empty closet until the police arrived. He is now being charged with child endangerment. The vandals father is supporting this man being charged. If I had done something like these boys did, I could count on my dad thanking the man and ""being put in a closet" would be the very least of my concerns after my dad was done with me. Times have changed!

bad judgment...

Well the boys should have to pay for what they did but a stranger can't just grab children and throw them in a closet against their will. That was some bad judgment on his part.

Shouldn't this be equated to what Christians did to Native Americans back in the 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries ??! I mean, for The Native Americans, they were actually killed to push The Christian agenda !!

Very good letter!

They talk Christianity, but legislate like atheists. They are all things to all people, and stand only for contributions and re-election (Kevin Palmer).

Good words well put! Jesus taught, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon [riches]" (Matthew 6:24 KJV). No doubt many politicians have put wealth and influence ahead of God. Amazingly, they think they can fool God.

David Barton is the founder of WallBuilders and is much hated by progressives and those who believe America has no Christian roots. Mr Barton is a Christian conservative and historian and I think he has the largest private collection of historical writings of the founders and those who were instrumental in the formation of our republic. On his website you will find many one of a kind (original) personal communications and letters between the founders. If you take time to read these letters you will be amazed by the strong faith in God and Christ these men had and the influence their faith had on our founding. This will never be taught in most schools.

much hated by progressives

You must know that some have never heard of this individual; thus would have no reason to hate him. Even when I know of persons with whom I disagree it does not rise to the level of "hating."

Quite a generalization made here. I suppose the intent was to say some read his work and disagree.

Was told by a former Protestant Preacher

that give up the calling because the ways being used.

He indicated one of his required church classes was a type of financial / religious economics. Which dealt with maximizing collections by adjusting the topics preached about, in order to attract more people and more money.

Certain Bible books, sections and topics were off limits. Like Leviticus, one of the oldest books in the bible (538–332 BC),
were to be avoided. If they wanted to build congregations and supporters.

I wonder how long before a fantastic discovery is made in the sand lands and the book of Leviticus removed from the bible or an 3000
year old "typo" is corrected?

I guess to some organized Protestant religions, it is as much about $$$$.

I hope you're joking about David Barton...the man is an absolute quack with absolutely zero credibility. He isn't a decorated scholar of history by ANY stretch of the imagination. After all, the man has a bachelor's degree in "religious education"...which is all well and good, but that does not make him an authority on the subject he writes about with such conviction. Add to the fact that his publishing company pulled one of Barton's most popular books admitting they were based on dubious facts (http://www.worldmag.com/2012/08/lost_confidence) and you know he's a certified quack.

I'm not denying the fact that this country has a long Christian history. That is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. However, the facts overwhelmingly suggest that the Founding Fathers were NOT Christian, but rather deists. They acknowledged the power of a greater being, but did not claim it was Jesus Christ/the Trinity...regardless of whatever this crackpot organization "Wallbuilders" wants you to believe.

They just hate David Barton because he is a regular on Glen Beck's shows and they REALLY hate Glen Beck!!

But, of course; Glen is a "Crackpot" as well. Along with anyone else who dare speaks against the liberal agenda!!

They MUST discredit the truth tellers to further the agenda!! It makes perfect sense and it's factual!!

I simply don't understand how anyone could give your 11:36 post a thumbs down, but that is why we are in this shape. The kid's break in, bust walls out, spray paint, etc; doing over 40k in damage. Then THEIR father believes his son is traumatized???? I'd be traumatized to pay those repairs!! I'm betting you money the father is planning to sue, because most people that used that word traumatized are thinking about big dollars!! I'm sure his poor little son can't sleep at night because the bad man threatened him.

I honestly can't say what I would like to do to Mr. Bowler and his son!! But father would get it worse because he is taking up for his son. Yes, I realized he said "There is no excuse for his son's actions, then he followed that up with a big "BUT" which is when he started taking up for his son.

If my dad would have came there to get me, he would have offered to pay the damages for the man and then beat me all the way to the car and when we got home. I'm still alive today aren't I? What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!!! I'm so sick of weakling people now days, being "traumatized". Today it certainly doesn't take much for someone in this panzy society to be traumatized!!

Glenn Beck isn't a crackpot,

Glenn Beck isn't a crackpot, just a liar.

As for that monument, so what? They quoted Thomas Jefferson. What's wrong with that?

Why would anyone object to a bench with a quote from Thomas Jefferson? How does that affect anybody in any way?

It's called tolerance for other people's beliefs, folks. That's about as Christian as it gets, not to mention patriotic.

Oh, and my personal religious

Oh, and my personal religious beliefs, backed up by the Bible, says that no human being knows when Christ is coming again, so anybody that thinks they know when it's going to happen- well, they can think what they want, but no, nobody knows.

Maybe you should brush up on your Bible a bit before spouting uneducated comments.

Just like Satan tempting Christ on the mount; what did he use to tempt Christ? Answer: Scripture, but he changed a word or two, which completely changed the meaning. Which is exactly what you just did because Christ didn't say "no human being knows when He is coming again" he said no man knows the DAY or HOUR.

Christ taught no man knows the DAY or HOUR but he certainly, in Matt 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, taught us the generation it will happen in. He told us to LEARN the parable of the fig tree and THIS generation shall not pass away until all things be fulfilled. The basis for the parable of the fig tree starts in Jeremiah 24. When Isreal became a Country again for the first time since Biblical times, this began the final generation. Israel became a Country in 1948; those born in 1948 are getting a LOT of gray hair on their heads.

This being the MOST important teaching when the end times will be, but there are MANY other scriptures, going along with that, which tell us (those who will listen) the time is VERY close. Did you know the Bible prophecies specifically about Saddam Hussein's fall in 2003? I'm not going farther, do your research.

Matt 24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Matt 24:42: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what HOUR your Lord doth come."

Matt 25:13: "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the DAY nor the HOUR wherein the Son of man cometh."

Mark 13:32: "But of that DAY and that HOUR knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."

Where does it mention that noone knows the generation?

Now, what does YOUR Bible say again? Are you still sure your PERSONAL religious beliefs back up or are backed up by the Bible?

The man's ties to Glenn Beck

The man's ties to Glenn Beck really have nothing to do with the fact that he lacks credibility himself. Much in the same way myfather can pass off his "facts" about the Bible, which he himself should know are pure conjecture. That and the example of the dad in Syracuse, while ridiculous, has nothing to do with the discussion at hand...a red herring in every sense of the term.

You certainly HOPE they are "conjecture".

If you would only take the time to search and find God's truth, which is out there, but not on every street (man's fault). You would probably find out that God isn't the entity that you think He is and isn't the entity that most christian's think He is as well.

More importantly though, you would find out just how TRUE His word is and has told us ALL THINGS. You don't just take one or two scriptures and say "This proves"; you take all of them. The parable of the fig tree is just the BASE. There are MANY MANY more.

At the beginning of Matt24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 the disciples were specifically asking Christ what the signs of His return would be and what to watch for. He answered them, but knew they weren't going to be alive. The answer was FOR US, in this generation. We are to WATCH and we have technology to HELP us watch!! Big difference in THEN and NOW. THEN and as recent as the early 1900's, people in the middle east and other Countries had no clue what was going on around the world. Now all we have to do is turn on the TV. If Israel shoots missles at Syria or any other Country, we usually know about it before the missles land.

CHRIST taught us to be WATCHMEN!!
