Paul Broun is a bad choice

  • Follow Letters

While on Robert C. Daniel Parkway one recent morning, I noticed two sports utility vehicles with young mothers and children aboard, both displaying local private-school decals on their back windows. Both also displayed “Paul Broun for Senate” bumper stickers. No doubt these parents are paying top dollar for their children’s education, and these mothers value and appreciate education.

How, then, can they justify supporting Broun, a man who says that the Earth is no more than 9,000 years old and that dinosaurs are “lies from the pits of hell?” I would strongly urge all voters having opportunities to meet and greet with Broun during the campaign to take their children’s science books and science encyclopedias from home with them and let Broun point out the lies!

Broun is a scientist of sorts himself – a medical doctor. He even serves on the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Science, Space and Technology, yet he believes the Earth is only 9,000 years old. This fellow is not stable, and I would urge voters to look elsewhere to someone to represent us in the U.S. Senate.

Though his claims to fiscal conservatism may seem alluring, there is a lot more to this guy than meets the eye. Search the Internet and check out his record on Earth’s age, and take a peek at his poor record of supporting animal welfare by visiting the Humane Society of the United States’ website and search Broun’s name. Speaking of animal welfare, do a search for photos of all of the stuffed animals in his congressional office in Washington, D.C., including a full-sized African lion.

Stop Paul Broun before he has a chance to do more damage to those who can’t help themselves.

GEE, there has been no

GEE, there has been no warming of the earth for the last 12 to 15 years. All of the computer models of global warming are on the lower end of their extreme for temperature prediction and will soon be completely off the "scientific" predictive outcomes of the increases in CO2 the earth has experienced. Despite these facts Obama pushes ahead with "Globull Warming" bull manure and calls those who rejected "Globull warming" "flat earth society members". Who is doing more damage to America, Paul Braun or Obama. If you are so concerned about science and society why don't you call Obama out?

If we refused to vote for an

If we refused to vote for an individual because of one or two personal beliefs that are misguided, there wouldn't be a single representative in Washington.

As Carcraft correctly pointed out, regarding globull warming! Hey, some of the politicians actually believe Aliens exist, should we impeach them? Some believe that intelligent life evolved from monkey's, despite the fact many scientists have said for the evolution process to be factual, no matter how slow the process is; we would still have to have living examples today of beings in EACH form of the process; hence always evolving. Meaning, if it were factual, you would absolutely have to have monkey's, human beings and the neanderthal; in existence at the same time for the EVER continuing process of evolution to be fact. Well, I suppose some people believe "Big foot" really does exist. Wanna talk about nuts? Believing in aliens and big foot, without the slighest proof.

perhaps some diversity training is in order for this letter
the religion of Darwinisim has been fully doubted in recent years

but the political broun (ha!) shirted scientists won't allow any information that deviates from the party line
truth is that which conforms to reality, independent of human perception
not that reality which conforms to human perceptions
the bigotry has changed targets, but is still bigotry

It's the economy, stupid

Wasn't that Bill Clinton's campaign war room slogan?

I don't care how old the earth is. It's only a guess, anyway. Eli Horford doesn't know how old the earth is. Paul Broun doesn't know how old the earth is.

I like Paul Broun because he values the Constitution, because he votes no on new spending schemes. We need to trim government spending, and Broun has a decent record in that regard.

You want a human king to rule over you....I Sam 8:11-22
Unpublished

11And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

12And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

13And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

14And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

15And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

16And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

18And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

To preempt the coming posts

To preempt the coming posts from the liberal, christian haters, in regard to the age of the earth, who try to use science to prove the earth is millions of years old. Science uses observation but since no one was at the creation of the the earth to observe (except God) we are left with evidence. Science, in their attempt to determine the age has made many assumptions from this evidence and relies on these assumptions as facts. If any of these assumptions are incorrect their conclusions are are also wrong..

Let me get this straight:

We are not to vote for Broun because he is "not stable" because he believes in God and he believes what the Bible says as to the creation of the earth?

And further more, he should know better because he is a man of science in that he is a medical doctor? Has it occurred to the letter writer that maybe when he opens up the human body he looks and understands that all he is looking at could not have happened by accident? That all of this is a result of thousands of years of change from something crawling out of a primortal soup? To me, someone who believes that should be considered "not stable".

I'm waiting to hear what Dr. Rad has to say about the NSA thing.

I'm not confident that Michelle Nunn would be any less of a statist than her father, and the name-dropping she did in a recent speech (mentioning she'd spent some quality time with Rahm Emanuel and Colin Powell) was not reassuring.

I read the entire letter and did not see one word telling me why Broun should not be in this elected position. There were only attacks towards his personal beliefs rather than voting records or anything regarding his work as a government official.

Loved your comment; but please don't unintentionally misguide people.

"because he believes in God and he believes what the Bible says as to the creation of the earth?"

The Bible DOES NOT teach us the earth is ANY AGE. I challenge anyone to prove different. The Bible says "In the beginning"; but doesn't say when this was. Many Biblical scholars have stated there is a huge gap of time between verse 1 and verse two. It's too long to debate on here at this time, but the simply fact is that the Bible nor God has every told us the earth is only thousands of years old. I personally do believe the earth is millions of years old, if not billions. I believe there was an entire age of time BEFORE our current dispensation of time. This is when Satan's rebellion occured, right here on earth and that was WAY before Genesis. It's mentioned several places in the Bible, even Christ mentined the world that was. Pay attention when the Bible is talking about "former times" or "before the foundations of this world". It's there, you just have to search the scripture and pray for God to open your eyes to TRUTH!

Age of the Earth

Luke 3 gives the geneology back to Adam and provides the number of years between generations up to historical times. The sum is about 6000 years. Jesus will come as conquering King to establish his 1000 year kingdom on the Earth. Six days of creation; a day of rest (Genesis). A day is as a thousand years (2 Peter). I believe angels, including Satan, were created on the first day (light). The Sun, Moon and stars were not created until day 4.

Oh, RMSHEFF, you're killing

Oh, RMSHEFF, you're killing me today.

This is from your young earth source:

"The presently-favored geochronometric methods (that is, those that give long ages, such as uranium-lead, rubidium-strontium, and potassium-argon) have not been included in the tabulation, nor are they discussed in this paper."

Huh? The radiometric techniques used to accurately date the age of substances in the universe have not been included or discussed in this paper? Are you KIDDING me?

I just wrote a paper about how your blood type is cheese. The presently-favored methods of taking a blood sample and testing your blood type from your blood sample were not included in my tabulation, nor were they discussed in the paper.

My conclusion is that your blood type is cheese.

I can show my calculations if you'd like.

I'm sorry that I didn't make myself clear. I was not commenting on the age of the earth, but on Broun's belief in creation rather than the leftists' love of Darwinism.
If one believes Darwin, which became the progressives' altar in the early 20th century, that means things are relative since there is no Creator and with no absolutes things can change according to the times. You know pesty things like that Old Constitution thingy written by those rich white men. They just didn't understand how the modern world would evolve and we should believe things upon which they founded the country. As you well know, we are sooooo much smarter than they were.
