Letter squarely IDs decline

  • Follow Letters

Bravo, Clifford Henning, for his letter outlining the transformation of our great nation (“And now, the future news,” June 21).

I could add much more to Mr. Henning’s list of things to come, but it would fall on deaf ears these days. The high-information voter can see the tragic decline in our civilization, which mirrors the fall of Rome, and it is staring us straight in the face. But for the low-information voter, it is all bread and circuses.

However, we are not talking about rational thinkers, are we? These low-information people do not think in an informed way. They are handicapped by self-inflicted denial, aided by a dismal government-run school system, and perpetuated by a nanny-state mentality. This a most certainly a recipe for the decline in our way of life.

Is it when our standard of living hits bottom that these unwitting people, who have supported the regime running things in Washington, come to realize what a colossal mistake they have made? This would be the logical conclusion a rational person would surmise when witnessing an economic meltdown that is so apparent. But again, we are not talking about rational thinkers.

These low-information voters are an emotionally driven group of people seeking pipe dreams while sticking their hands in the pockets of their neighbors. What they failed to realize is that their neighbors’ pockets will run dry, and they will then be left to their own devices.

So, has Mr. Henning hit the nail on the head when describing the dire future ahead of us? I say yes. Based on what has occurred in the past two elections, the future of our once-great nation will be no surprise for the informed and rational voter. However, the future will hit the low-information voter like a ton of bricks. There will be no place to hide, and there will be no help from Washington. Rome is the example, and we are following its playbook, thanks to the low-information voter.

These idiots

The Senate and house passed the health care law with out reading it. The immigration bill is being passed with out reading it. One of the little items in the immigration bill is that those illegal aliens allowed to stay and work in the US will get a hiring preference over American citizens. Here is how it works, if you hire 50 or more people you provide health insurance or pay a fine of $3,000.00 per employee. Those staying under the immigration bill are ineligible for Obama care so the employer can hire them with our having to provide health insurance..Just one of the laws of unintended consequences, such as the internal combustion engine was considered a solution to pollution when it first came out..it seems horses were much more messy than cars and trucks. So as the idiots in DC march on we are in decline. Even Ecuador thumbs it's nose at us and Putin is having a big laugh..

Big difference here!

When I think of low information voters, I think of people who pay no attention to news stations or politics. They simply live their lives everyday, not giving a second thought to what is going on in the world. Then, usually in November; they go vote without the slightest clue who they are voting for. They vote for whoever has the (R) or (D) in front of their name, according to which one mammy or pappy told them they are. These low information voters could be traditional American's in values; they just don't know it, because they don't know what either party stands for.

BUT, this low information voter is a FAR cry different than the commited folks who are supporting this administration. Those committed leftists who blind support this President are NOT low information; as a matter of fact, they're the exact opposite. They KNOW exactly what time it is!! When they see this Country in decline, they of course deny it; but within their ranks, they celebrate!! This is their GOAL people!! They want the moral fabric of this Country to be completely broken down!

Again, if you buy a piece of property with the intentions of building a mansion on it; but it has an old worn down house already there. What must you first do? You must tear down that old worn down house before you can start construction on your mansion. You CAN NOT build a mansion on top of the worn down house. Traditional American values are the old worn down house, TO THEM!! They despise it!! It's standing in the way of their dreams coming true!! They will do WHATEVER it takes to tear that house down!!

This Country is being destroyed financially (17 trillion in debt) and morally with the daily attack on faith and traditional values!! (But, the left would say there is no attack on faith or values)

But they are attacking us from WITHIN!! They've disguised themselves as the sheep, when they are the wolves. They disguise themselves as the real "compassionate" ones, civil rights champions, diversity champions, champions of the poor people, full of love for "everyone". But it's a bunch of JUNK and pure deception!! But it's brilliant deception!! They're tearing this Country apart from within and the plan has been brilliant!!

Now, we must fight this and put our voice out there LOUD!!! I'm certainly not someone who suggests sitting around, doing nothing. But I do believe this is one of the biggest signs of the times. As President Reagan said "This is the shining city on the hill; Amercia is the last beacon of Freedom in the world; if freedom fails here, there is no where to flee."

He was right!! We now know through technology that the world isn't flat and that there is no new land or Country for freedom to flee too. This IS THE LAST STAND!!! Freedom IS failing here and if freedome loses this battle, we will need a Savior!! Will we not??

Bodhisattva. Why the inflammatory comments? Is that really all you have. Why not argue ANYTHING in the letter? Is name calling really the best you can do? So sad. How about this little challenge. Try backing up the statement you made with ANY evidence that it is true. You ARE aware that posting of unsubstantiated claims is a direct violation of the rules of posting here, yet you JUST did that.........unless you care to substantiate it.....which I highly doubt.

Truth be known

Anyone who has read "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" and doesn't see our country and the path we are following must have forgotten to turn the pages. Thank God that I won't be around to see the consequences yet to come.

Fox News exposes "low information" voters on the Bill O'Reilly show with Watters World. Watters does "man on the street" interviews with people passing by in public places. If it were not so sad it would be funny when people are ask about current events they don't have clue. Many are college students and most VOTE. One person was ask about Bengazi . They had no idea and thought Bengazi was a fancy european sports car. Another thought Condoleezza Rice was a side dish. These people "could" tell you who won American Idol 5 years ago ! This is very close to "no information " voters. No doubt these are the people who put Obama in office…..your comrades Bodhisattva !

I have noticed almost all those on the left have no real argument...they just "name call". When they do try to make a point it us usually very easy to take it apart. Its very easy to be a liberal and requires very little thought.

That's why so few bother to visit anymore. They are embarrassed that the President has done such a poor job and find defending him impossible. That, and the AC started charging a fee to do so.

Us and Them

so lets all give up since it is all going to hades in a handbag. Our great experiment is now deemed 'nice try'... oh, there are problems aplenty that are in need of attention, but hey, it's THEIR problem, let them fix it... seems the prevailing attitude with the 'informed' set. If being 'informed' brings one to such low levels of real problem solving, than I prefer to be in the 'un-informed' group, where because of our diversity, WE know that no one idealistic idea will hold sway over the whole group, in other words, were going to have to 'go along to get along', an axiom that is untenable with the 'informed' group.

What a well done letter and spot on comments

(except that of Bod, but what's new). I think Father15 does a very good job of separating the low information voter from those on the left who are purposely trying to bring down the country. obama is the poster child for the latter as evident by his speech yesterday which is designed to destroy the coal industry.

I think you can break the low information voter into two categories: those who are working hard trying to make a living and focusing on raising a family versus those who have the time but are just blissfully ignorant and have no desire to become informed. The latter are the sheeple of the left and the democratic machine.

My son in law is an executive chef who works up to 20 hours a day at times and when he gets home he is just flat worn out and just wants to eat supper and relax watching sports. My daughter has an 18 month old boy with whom she is busy raising and pre-homeschooling him. The good thing for them is they have me to keep them informed when the time is appropriate. :)

name call... pleeeeeaaaaasssseee

what... all the inteligence is only on one side of this discussion. Like patriotism and problem solving are supposed to come from only one point of view in this country. You guys really need to come around some to what it takes to really work to solve our problems. This 'off the pulpit' style of how things should be done is just that 'off-the pulpit', a righteousness that only marginalizes your quest to make this a better country tommarrow than it is today. You'alls, discuss and to a point 'hate' for the 'other side' is ludicrious in dealing with the secular matters WE have at hand. Many see the underpinnings of a 'taliban' type, our way or the highway, compulsion that serves only self interest, not the the interest of the WHOLE. For sure the purile motivations are honest, it is just some have not learned yet that in our secular government, it is WE the people, where the interest lies, not WE know what the people need.

come on now... when GW was runnin' things, I think a whole lot went on that the 'low information' group had to 'eat'. I love the way some of you see 'end times' so easy just because your not gettin' your way. I am pretty sure it is called POLITICS and of course to the winner goes the spoils, no matter how much one does not like it. Now the back of the bus thing is a good analogy, and yes... I would tell the house of representatives to go to the BACK of the bus, as they are doing NOTHING to help our great nation deal with its many current problems.

That is because they largely react to "feelings and emotion" rather than logic. IMO, of course.

Quote from LTE

"These low-information voters are an emotionally driven group of people seeking pipe dreams while sticking their hands in the pockets of their neighbors. What they failed to realize is that their neighbors’ pockets will run dry, and they will then be left to their own devices."

I will assume that the "low-information voters" ARE REPUBLICANS ! Going to the polls only to vote a straight Republican and / or Tea Party ballot !! YES, this kind of voting is "low-information" ! And I thought for a very fleeting moment the LTE was talking about Democrats.

The low information voters are liberals that react from emotion rather than facts. They "feel" rather than think. Obama appeals to their emotion to bring these low information voter into his camp for the sole purpose of gaining political power. You seem to be equating Republicans with us conservatives and while some republicans are conservative most are not. I am a conservative. George Bush was a social conservative but was a fiscal liberal. He grew the size of government and gave us big deficits. To put it in simple terms we conservatives believe in a much smaller and less powerful government.

Really, what are you talking about? Why do you blame the Republicans for getting nothing done. Are you completely absolving the Democrats? In the last budget talks, Obama and Boehner were close to a deal that raised taxes and made adjustments to the entitlement programs. Pelosi went nuts and killed it.

Inflammatory comment? Just a true statement
Unpublished

At least two studies have shown that Fox News viewers are less informed than people who watch no news at all. The reason? Fox viewers tend to limit their news sources and many use Fox as their only news source and Fox has a tendency to put a very right wing spin on the news and on occasion throw in outright lies. Viewers who limit their news to one source other than Fox, such as MSNBC, also tend to score low but Fox is the winner, or in this case loser, when it comes to being informed. FYI: NPR listeners came out on top.

I find it fascinating that so

I find it fascinating that so many turn a blind eye to the numerous failings of the Obama administration. They wrap themselves in the cloak of “diversity” and “getting along” when in actuality the actions of this administration and the Democrat party are nothing of the sort.

This ability to believe all the flowery speeches while ignoring actions is another trait indicative of the low information voter.
