America becoming unrecognizable

What is this country coming to? The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recently announced that it is pursuing enforcement action against Dollar General and a subsidiary of BMW because they had the racist audacity to ask contractors and employee applicants if they had been convicted of a felony. According to the EEOC, since blacks have a higher conviction rate than whites, this question discriminates against minorities.

I’m not making this up. Google it!

What are we coming to? Businesses who hire cashiers and others for trusted positions can’t ask applicants if they have a conviction for theft? BMW has been charged with discrimination because they asked contractors if they had convictions for murder; rape; assault and battery; child or spousal abuse; manufacture and distribution of drugs; or weapons violations.

I know I sound like Chicken Little, but what are we doing here? Have we lost our minds? What’s next – you can’t ask if someone has completed high school, because blacks have a lower completion rate than whites?

What happened to working hard, staying in school, playing by the rules and reaping the rewards America has to offer?

Goodbye, America. I don’t recognize you anymore. You had a good run, but now it’s time for you to become a second-rate country.

All of these folks who have prior felony convictions and/or did not complete high school........... send 'em to the fields. Hire them to pick the tomatoes, squash, and all else which must be hand-picked.

Deliberate destruction of the basic family unit is to blame beginning in the mid 1960's. A welfare state that is god and savior. A welfare state that can provides cradle to grave material, spiritual and economic security must be god.

These type of rulings just go to show the lack of private

business experience in the people whom obama appoints to commissions. They have never had to protect a business from employees who are value challenged or would be detrimental to the survival of a business.

Incompetence is run amok in nearly every commission and agency of the federal government for years. The Congress has given up its responsibilities to these agencies because they have written laws that are so involved and complicated that they can't oversee their implementation. Congress judges itself by the number rather than the quality of the laws it passes.

I don't know if we will ever pull out of this death spiral because we have some many low information and uninformed voters and we are adding to their number continuously.

I have noticed you are very concerned about our food supply not being harvested if immigration reform is not passed. The problem with the bill before the senate is that is seeks to make all that have come here illegally, citizen that can vote and border security will never happen(again) Those of use against this bill want to allow for a "guest worker" program that will allow even more people to come in and fill the needs you seem to worry about. We must know who is here, and be able to control the border.

"What happened to working hard, staying in school, playing by

rules and reaping the rewards America has to offer?" Stephen, why would anyone want to work when the "guvment" will give them money with no strings attached?

The days of us having a society that wants to work is Gone With the Wind and this kind of thinking will also destroy our nation. I won't be around for the nation's demise but a demise is in the future!

It's more complicated than

It's more complicated than the LTE makes it seem.

Background checks aren't necessarily accurate, and there is no due process for fighting them or correcting them. So should people lose their jobs based on false or incomplete information? Should people be denied jobs for issues that happened many years ago and have been resolved?

It's a complex issue, and not as simple as the nutcase blogs want to make it. As always, both sides pick out bits and pieces of the story and then slant and distort and take out of context what the case is really about.
