Fees soak south Richmond

  • Follow Letters

I received two items in the mail recently from Augusta-Richmond County government. One was the water/sewage bill with what appears to be a 100 percent increase in the sewage fee. The other was a letter to tell me that, starting in June, my trash pickup will be reduced from twice a week to once a week for the same fee – which represents a 100 percent increase.

To add insult to injury, the letter about the trash was addressed to an individual who is not the property owner and never has lived at this address.

It seems as if Augusta government does not know what it is doing and is keeping Augusta solvent at the expense of south Richmond County.

Do not use common sense when trying to explain the trash tax to commissioners...try to throw in some Braves or Falcon tickets though and you may get some results....
