Build arena elsewhere

Previously, I was not for baseball going to North Augusta, as Augusta’s Lake Olmstead Stadium is not bad. However, after seeing what the James Brown Arena has done to destroy RiverHawks hockey – allowing carelessness to damage the ice system repeatedly by allowing heavy trucks in there at other events – I am now very much in favor of the baseball move to North Augusta.

I’d like to see a new arena go to North Augusta also, so we can get pro hockey again. They could get arena football again there, too, as the inept arena folks have ruined that too in past times. Augusta doesn’t deserve a good arena, which careless idiots running things now demonstrate.

Actually, I’d like for Columbia County Commission Chairman Ron Cross and Columbia County to step up and put the new arena there at the Grovetown exit off Interstate 20 – anywhere but Richmond County, so decisions are made for business reasons, not racial reasons

Columbia County could really put itself on the map with the new arena, new hotels, restaurants, lounges and a bigger tax base.

Who’s going to step up and give this area a modern arena, like all our competitor cities around us?

Sam G. Roney

Where are arenas built and by whom?

He in lies the answer. Politically corrupt design/construction and management for the sole purpose of monetary fraud. Who decides where the "center" should be located?

Why do taxpayers who may or may be able to or wish to be government entertained, have to pay for collective entertainment?
No where is the constitution are we endowed with government entertainment.

And even when the taxpayers foot the bill for these temples of part time entertainment, they are asked again to pay substantial fess to enter said temples. There is no " I'm already paying for this building".

If any entertainment venture is worth the effort, has a sustainable paying audience, it should be able to pay for itself.
This is a foolish and cruel trick played on the mindless taxpaying sheeple of America. Talk about your socialist government control.

Wal Mart wants to build a store on Walton Way. So all of the citizens in ARC pay for the design/construction/staffing/operation of said Wal Mart. But when the citizen goes into said Wal Mart, he must pay again to use the building and receive any benefits. LOL LOL

Arena is to Blame

Not keeping up the facility is a big issue period!!!!! The Richmond County groups screwed it up by just taking and squandering the money away then trying to use the excuse of the insurance on the ice not paying..If they had done the upkeep as they should have they would have had a case where the damage was caused by events and maybe could have made a case. It is kind of funny how the Ice facility can keep their equipment functional for a longer period of time with way less resources...Guess this shows how government once again is about political kickback and gains..trying to not offend the deep pockets or those that might scream discrimination because funds are being used as intended instead of for lazy no good handouts!!!!!!!!!!!
