Homosexuality is prohibited

  • Follow Letters

We must stand up for moral values in our country. The three great Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam prohibit homosexuality, and it is an abomination.

The Torah is the primary source of Jewish law. It states: “(A man) shall not lie with another man as with a woman, it is a toeba (abomination)” (Leviticus 18:22). The stated punishment for willful violation is the death penalty.

According to the Bible’s Romans 1:26-27: “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”

The Islamic Quran, in 26:165-166, says “What! Of all creatures in the world, do you approach males and leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people transgressing.”

These are very clear commandments against homosexuality, and punishments can be expected in this life and a sure penalty is waiting in the hereafter, according to the three religions. We must strive to overcome this behavior and help people to correct their stance.

The three great Abrahamic religions are based on the worship of one God without any form of partnership, and brings discipline among human beings to live in peace, harmony and love. The division created by homosexuality behavior induces differences, which may lead to irreligious behavior and disunity, breaking the discipline that has built this country to be a great nation.

I would donate $100 to a local charity for each person who commented on this story that reads their comments to the Meriweather family in person.

Go on. Tell them their son is eternally damned. If you're so strong in your blind obedience to your idea of God, you would have no problem doing this.

"The bible is just full of instances of men having multiple wives" Your statement is correct but you infer that just because it is in the Bible it must be OK. Having multiple wives is and always has been sinful. It is clear in Genesis that God's plan was for one man and one woman for one lifetime. You will also read of many men "putting away" (divorce) their wives. This also is sinful as God Hates Divorce.

As a Catholic whenever Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons knock on my door to talk about Jesus I have finally found a way to end the conversation quickly.

I simply say that I'm quite satisfied with the church that Christ founded 2,000 years ago.

There is a whole scientific fileld about "Queer Theory". Note because of the word this will likely be removed. The voice against homosexual behavior is likely just as biological as the voice that supports it. So basically neither side can help it. Response to WBC Ephesians

Response to WBC

Ephesians 5:22-24: Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
You have seemed to have left out a verse.....verse 21 states “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” So now, does this verse really mean women are servants.
Verse 22 actually says “Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord”.....meaning she is only submissive to her husband. He is to love her as Christ loves us and he is the guide, the counselor, the guardian of the family.

Response to WBC Exodus: When

Response to WBC

Exodus: When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again.
The word “slave” does not have the same meaning as we think of a slave today. This was a housemaid or maid-servant. If a father had to resort to selling his daughter, it was done only in extreme distress, could only be sold to another Hebrew, and most likely was due to the fact that he could not provide for her or his family. Also, He could only sell her if she was unmarriageable (under the age of 12) and this servitude only lasted approximately 6 years. In her master’s house, she would have been clothed, feed, and cared for as a daughter.

Very well written, short and to the point. I am a Christ follower and appreciated how you brought in the Jewish & Islamic perspectives as well. Additional response to WBC

1 Corinthians 11:3:But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
Does not say women are slaves to men. It states the man is to be the head of the family, the leader. The husband and wife are equal partners in the marriage. They discuss family matters but ultimately it SHOULD be the father who makes the final decisions (so long as it is in accordance with God’s Word).
1 Timothy 2:11-14: Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
Goes back to men being the spiritual leader. No where does it say she can not teach women or children.

Final response to WBC

1 Corinthians 11:8-9: For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
In Corinthians, the apostle is respecting the original formation of man, he was made by God out of the dust of the earth, before woman came into being, and not vice versa. He is acknowledge Christ is the head, then man, and then the woman but no where in scripture does it state that a wife is her husband’s servant. We are to be submissive, allowing them to be the head of the family,
The last two scriptures you posted are covered in scripture you’ve already posted. Also note that these guidelines are given to Christian households and really don’t apply to non-believing families. It is apparent that you have not taken the time to read and study the whole chapter in Ephesians (just picked a few verses that you think proves your point) or else you would understand that we are to submit to one another as to the Lord and scripture states his children are all the same. Men may be ordained as the leader of the family but does not mean that women are to be slaves or property. Christ said it himself in Galatians.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

And that it isn't a prejudice

And that it isn't a prejudice no more than gay people not wanting to have sex with the opposite gender is a prejudice against heterosexuals. Just like some people don't like cabbage. Both sides are likely biologically driven beliefs from many cultural and social influences. Personally I could care less about peoples sexual preference-I don't see that defines people in anyway.

Karradur, didn't you forget something.....

Leviticus 20:13 was for the children of Israel and under the old covenant but under the New Covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ it states

1 Corinthians 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

So death is no longer the penalty. We have an opportunity for redemption and forgiveness without the fear of death. No you didn't write the book (thank you Jesus) and evidently you do not possess the spirit to interpret it correctly either.
