Four more years of this?

  • Follow Letters

Albert Einstein is credited with defining insanity as doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I can’t help but think of our country when I read that quote.

Did the 51 percent of voters back on Nov. 6 really think that, by voting for Barack Obama, they would get different results? Maybe, just to be fair, they thought that he had just “inherited” such a mess, that he needed four more years to get the country back on track, and that he was trying – working so hard that he had to take frequent vacations.

Probably not all of his voters expected different results. Many of those who voted for Obama wanted the same results:

• four more years of government subsidies and giveaways;

• four more years of the decline of a once-great country (he said he was going to fundamentally transform America, and he is – and we’re allowing him to do it!);

• feeling the pain of Obamacare;

• four more years of wasted taxpayers’ money on experiments in the field of alternative energy (Solyndra, for example);

• four more years of cover-ups (Benghazi comes to mind – but probably not for many, thanks to biased media);

• four more years of an empty-suit style of so-called leadership (but he looks so cool, and that’s what’s important in America these days);

• four more years of saying one thing and doing another (saying he wouldn’t raise taxes during a recession; well, we’re still in a recession);

• four more years of the worst economy in my lifetime;

• four more years of the value of the dollar continuing to go down;

• four more years of higher gas prices because of the Obama administration’s energy policies;

• four more years of nebulous hogwash that I don’t have time to list in this letter.

Maybe I was incorrect in my original hypothesis. The majority of our voters are not insane. When they voted for Obama, apparently they expected the same results. And they are getting them! Worse than that, the rest of us are, too!

Trillion dollar a year

Trillion dollar a year deficit and Obama has raised the debt ceiling twice. When Bush raised it ONCE, Obama said it was a lack of leadership and was a debt on our children. LOL Obama is a complete failure. Truth matters. You said until McCain picked Palin. Well Palin has better credentials than Obama and did great until the media attacked her with incredible fury and scorn. Palin actually sent the Setting Republican Governor of Alaska to jail for corruption. Palin got more money from the Oil Companies for Alaskan citizens. Palin had one of the highest positive ratings for a governor at the time. Obama was tied in with Chicago corruption. Look up his buddy who helped him buy his house named Rezko. Obama could not speak straight and misspoke all the time, worse than Palin. It appears Obama did not know Kentucky bordered Illinois, may be he could see it from his front porch if he looked. The press gave Obama's past, political corruption, etc. a pass and skewered Palin on every little issue, all of which she was eventually exonerated on. When Palin's Emails as governor were hacked and released nothing was found. We still don't know about Obama's college records, how he paid for school etc. We still don't know hardly anything about Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers!

Obama made belittling this

Obama made belittling this country a part of his campaign. This is not not "an exceptional" country he said - then proceeds to make sure it becomes what he wants. Other countries now look at us in disdain...they see us as idiots. Take off the rose-colored glasses and LOOK !

As to the stock market, how many in low paying jobs or on welfare owns stocks?
I was a bit taken aback to see liberals endorsing the wealthy. Who would have thought it.

Bush and Obama are riding

Bush and Obama are riding down the road with Bush driving. Bush loses control, crashes through a guardrail and they go careening down a 100 feet deep hill. After 83 feet down they swap places, and when they hit the bottom and Obama tries to drive the car back up to the road people say it's his fault. Great logic there. Maybe even throw rocks at him to make it harder.

In general,

the "news" media is in the back pocket of the democrats because: they ( news organizations) are unionized, pro-union and don't believe in conservative policies. It's easier to "report" innuendo, rumors and factless information because many Americans are (1) lazy, (2) illiterate, (3) want a free ride, and (4) irresponsible. obama, bill ayers, rangel, jealous, jackson's, kilpatrick, kennedys, clintons and crew have horrible skeletons in their closets and in the open but charisma is more interesting than honesty.

I don't like alot of things Obama do either

However, grew up around elderly people that stressed; if you do not like how someone is doing a job or running a business, do something about it. We all forget, Obama is a manager making decisions base on input from his advisors. So, I challenge all to run for office when his term expires, then we will be able to see how you will be able to run the country. With that being said: JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

Bod, bs. The dems crashed

Bod, bs.

The dems crashed the economy by failure to heed warnings. I am not so certain they didn't do it on purpose to insure winning the election in 2008.

Number of times debt ceiling raised by president

GW Bush 7
Clinton 4
GHW Bush 4
Reagan 17 or 18. I've found conflicting info and I'm on a Kindle Fire instead of the computer so searching is a bit more of a pain. I have no clue where people pull some of the info they get from. Two increases is a far cry from the correct number of seven. Tax cuts, a drop after 9/11, then two wars, even more tax cuts, then the economy started tanking. Revenue had to come from somewhere.

Revenue comes from people

Revenue comes from people working and paying taxes not from people being but on disability and other government handouts.

Excuse me, seven is a lot

Excuse me, seven is a lot more than once. Didn't look back. It's not that hard to get accurate information. Where does the bad info come from? Is it an individual posting this somewhere or is there an an organization that's either so shoddy it can't do simple research or so slimy that it's intentionally putting out false information and propaganda?

I can not believe you are counting the number of times the debt ceiling to the amount the debt has been raised under Obama's reign.

Duh, thanks. There are people

Duh, thanks. There are people who have worked their lifetimes and paid into the system and reached retirement age. There are also people who worked, paid into the system, and are legitimately disabled. Those aren't government handouts. Profits up, stocks up, executive compensation up, productivity up, wages stagnant since around 1980. You think maybe they were joshing us about that trickle down stuff?

Talking about the national debt

This country ( our government ) can not even stick to this sequestration! If I am not mistaken, we are only talking about 80 billion dollars. If we can not even stick to an 80 billion dollar cut, what would we do if we were to REALLY do some budget cutting ??!!

We have done quite well

We have done quite well during high earnings and trickle down. But msybe that is because we are self employed.

Oh, and you know I was not talking about SS. But I was talking about putting people on disability because unemployment benefits have run out in order to manipulate the numbers.

Obama talks about the wealthy not paying their fair share

But it is only talk. He has plenty of wealthy and powerful friends, many who don't even pay the taxes they owed under the so called Bush tax cuts.

And he certainly prospered during the Bush years, he and Michele. He says he cares about the poor and the middle class, but he certainly doesn't want to live like them.

I'm not sure what you're

I'm not sure what you're talking about? The debt ceiling has been raised four times under Obama. The first debt ceiling was looming when he was sworn in and had to be raised less than a month after inauguration. We're due for the fifth any day now.

Come on now

The amount of debt has increased under Obama more than under any other president or numerous presidents combined.

Do we have a budget yet?

How about Obamacare costing way more than projected?

Bod misses the main point!

Bod misses the main point! Obama refused to vote to raise the debt ceiling out of principle and blasted Bush for a lack of leadership! Well here we are 5 years later and one had to wonder if it is still a lack of leadership?

Try using percent increase.

Try using percent increase. That way you don't have to get into calculating constant dollars. Of course if you do, you'd see that in constant dollars the government was bringing in less than it was in 1998. The spending was already in the pike so there was a roughly $1.4 trillion dollar deficit for 2009 (which counts on Bush until Oct. 1.). When you're fighting two wars (not Good time to cut taxes, twice),, and you're having to p a y today's prices to run the country, it's h ardto do when you're bringing in the the same amount money as a decade and a ha l f ago. We'll carry on later. Really did have dental surgery and its getting angry. Have a good weekend.

Bottom line....

.....the current model is unsustainable....Obama will NOT be remembered for presiding over America's resurgence. He will go down in history as the man who expedited it's demise......

Ahh, the percent

Bod, are you enjoying paying those higher prices for food? How about energy? We are using way less energy since replacing 24 windows in our house last year, but the bill has remained about the same. So that is a drastic increase. And under Obama's policy, it is going to go up.

And those 2 things are not counted by the gov when figuring inflation. Wonder why?

You can cut back on your expense for clothing, unless you are gaining or losing weight. You can drive an old vehicle. It seems that if you don't consider your healthcare your responsibility, you don't have to pay for that.

But you do have to buy food and pay for energy, transportation, and shelter. That is, unless the government, via we taxpayers, is picking up your tab.
