Strengthen terror stance

  • Follow Letters

I think President Obama has erred gravely in his leadership regarding terrorists, which goes back to Libya, where our people were left to die. It emboldened our enemies around the world and here at home.

One of the most egregious errors was giving Miranda rights to enemy combatants. Our Constitution was written to protect and guide the United States. It doesn’t govern outsiders – which brings me to the bombing in Boston.

I don’t know if the younger brother had the forethought to become a naturalized citizen, where he would be afforded rights under the Constitution instead of being sent to Guantanamo Bay if caught. It makes no sense otherwise if he was going to kill people he took an oath to be loyal to. If that was the case, his rights and citizenship should be revoked.

Also, Obama’s idea to close Gitmo puts the citizens of our country in danger.

If I were a terrorist with nothing to lose and was put into a prison with people of like minds, I would build an army within. Imagine: You have all day long to plot and plan a takeover. You know that every prison has an armory. It wouldn’t take long to see the weakness in the enemies’ daily routine. If coordinated around the country, there would be a formidable army to break out into society and tear this country in half. Also, Obama’s idiotic quest to destroy the Second Amendment would leave everyone vulnerable.

We should implement, as a deterrent, a new law that automatically gives the death penalty to terrorists. There should also be a maximum two-year appeal process, which stops years of living on death row at the taxpayer’s expense.

Gregory J. Topliff

It's good to know that Mr. Topliff is a supporter of Sharia law.

Exactly which part of that is

Exactly which part of that is Sharia law? Citizens born in this Country who have committed acts of treason and murder have been executed numerous times; as they should be.

Are you just trying to confuse people by saying the writer of this article is ruthless and uncompassionate? The old "We are as bad as them" jargon.

Before one can have an anti-terrorism policy

one must recognize who the terrorists are and from where do they come. Obama does neither. He can't even bring himself nor allow his minions to speak Islam or terrorism in the same sentence.

Sorta like the fantasy land

Sorta like the fantasy land paranoia of the left about "assault "weapons. "Assault "weapons are used in fewer murders than human extremities, hammers and knives! Oh will, I think treating American citizens who gave aid and comfort to the enemy, commit sabotage etc should be treated with the same legal rights etc that Gosnell treated babies born alive! There's some justice both liberals and conservatives can agree on!

sure glad justice is in the hands of a judge and jury...

as this editorial points out, justice in the hands of any one individual is not justice, it is a projection of an individual's ideas, not a good basis for deciding another's fate, especially when there are so many out there who derive their 'ideas' from such poor sources as faux, msnbc, cnn, glenn, etc., etc.

I agree with the writer's last paragraph

The last paragraph of the LTE should be inacted ASAP. I do understand the long drawn-out process for American Citizens, but when there is absolutely no gray area where terriorest are concerned, capital punishment MUST COME FASTER !

"faux, msnbc, cnn" I always

"faux, msnbc, cnn"

I always wonder about the mental capacity of someone who can remember msnbc but cannot remember FOX.......FOX, the only media outlet which presents the "rest of the story".....the opinions and yes, facts, the other side does not want to address.....the network that told you 4 years ago that Obamacare would turn out to be exactly what some Democrat legislators cannot defend today and are in fact resigning over to avoid the "train wreck" that is coming. FOX...the ONLY network covering the trial of the doctor performing Planned Parenthood taxpayer funded abortions on healthy live born babies by snipping their spinal column with scissors. Oh, I'm not saying FOX is perfect, but you will certainly get coverage and find out FACTS that are intentionally omitted by the other networks because it does not further their left leaning agenda.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who attempts to murder people through a terrorist act abdicates the right for consideration of any other punishment except relatively swift execution. There are no extenuating or mitigating circumstances that can apply to such an act. It doesn't even matter if they were successful or not. If they attempt a terrorist act and are caught and convicted, then execute them as quickly as possible.....preferably publicly or at least televised. Seems to be only common sense to me.

Dicotomy, if Obama admits it

Dicotomy, if Obama admits it or not we are in a war with fundamentalists Islamic terrorists. When bombings like Boston occur we encourage other terrorests. If those committing terrorest acts they ate traitors and saboteurs and deserve military tails and executions!

If you seriously think Fox News is "fair and balanced"...

...you really, REALLY need to do some research.

And I'm not saying this as someone who is politically opposite of them. I'm saying this as someone who is capable of critical thought.

In my time reading and participating in all kinds of public forums of discussion, I've seen and talked to a lot of people that are very intelligent, even though their political opinions are different than mine. They are people who want the same thing I want, and what 99% of the nation wants: good jobs, good schools, a safe and thriving community, financial security, reliable public infrastructure, and so forth. So I know these people are most likely not stupid.

The Chronicle website is definitely very lively and opinionated, and I know that my viewpoints are usually in the minority. In that regard, my suggestion to people to read a Rolling Stone article about Fox News will most likely go unheeded, but I highly recommend it. Why? Because like I said, you, the person reading this, are most likely in that 99% of people who are not a fool.

And it is from that sentiment of commonality, beyond politics and beyond partisanship, in that place where you and I have common ground, where we are intelligent people that should not be outright manipulated by anyone, that I tell you that Fox News is a destructive media machine designed to take advantage of you, your family, your political views, and the entire Republican Party.

The Facts

Since the September 2011 attack there have been 5 successfully terrorist attacks on America.....ALL under President Obama's watch and none under former president Bush. The terrorist have NO fear of a president who refuses to even speak out and identify our enemy. There is now an attempt by the liberal media to gather sympathy for this latest terrorist.

True media liberal bias

Examples of Liberal media bias. 1) Gosnell Murder Trial is not covered on ABC, CBS or NBC. They are all Very pro abortion and any coverage would not help the cause. If you have watched fox you would have learned of the extremely gruesome treatment of "born alive" babies but this was not covered elsewhere.

A letter sent by Media Research Center President Brent Bozell and 20 prominent leaders calls on the broadcast networks to stop censoring coverage of the trial. Disney-owned ABC's total blackout on both Good Morning America and World News continues. -

Karradur...I'm not so sure I would rely on Rolling Stone as a source, if you search their website for Kermit Gosnell you get ZERO hits, if you search Benghazi, you get 5 hits and they are all from 2011. Think there may be agenda?

Brent Bozell?
Unpublished

Isn't he the coward who refused to go on the air and chickened out of an on air debate on Scarbororough with Larry Johnson?
Isn't he the good "christian" that yelled obscenities at Paul Waldman in the green room after going on O'Reilly?
He heads that group that tells us whether movies and tv shows are ok to watch or have something nasty in them. You know, Glee is trash because it has a gay person and short skirts that show skin but Gone With the Wind is a classic even though it shows murder, prostitution, rape, slavery, and that whole rebelling against your county thing. He does seem to have a pretty amazing talent of being able to review a whole slew of movies that he'd never even seen. An interesting talent. (Thanks rationalwiki) He also must make above $450k because he appears real upset Mitch McConnell worked a deal on the fiscal cliff and allowed the Bush tax cuts to expire at that amount. He's even running ads against him. Bozell is the head of a corporate funded right wing PAC. He's also not wound real tight. He's definitely at home on Fox.

Because they actually cover

Because they actually cover all the news that all the others won't such as coverage of the abortion doctor trial. This trial has not been covered by all the liberal media because they are all liberal and pro abortion and reflects poorly on the abortion cause. Just as the liberal main stream media ignored the "Benghazi attack because it might hurt Obama's reelection. I could go on....

quotes to think about... unless you don't want to 'think' !

--2010, global warming. Stanford University, in conjunction with the National Science Foundation, released a report titled "Frequent Viewers of Fox News Are Less Like to Accept Scientists' Views of Global Warming."

It concluded:

More exposure to Fox News was associated with more rejection of many mainstream scientists' claims about global warming, with less trust in scientists, and with more belief that ameliorating global warming would hurt the U.S. economy.

--2010, the proposed New York City mosque. Two Ohio State University researchers released their study, "Fox News Contributes to Spread of Rumors About Proposed NYC Mosque."

The take-away:

In this study, the results are very clear: the more people use Fox News, the more rumors they have heard and the more they believe.

--2011, health care reform. The Kaiser Foundation released the findings of its health care reform "pop quiz." It asked respondents ten questions about the topic and graded the responses. The Foundation found loyal Fox News viewers knew less about health care reform than did CNN and MSBNC viewers.

--2009, health care reform. A NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found Fox fans were overwhelmingly misinformed about the proposed health care reform:

In our poll, 72% of self-identified FOX News viewers believe the health-care plan will give coverage to illegal immigrants, 79% of them say it will lead to a government takeover, 69% think that it will use taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions, and 75% believe that it will allow the government to make decisions about when to stop providing care for the elderly.

With regard to

With regard to examiner....

"A writer, we’ll call her “X,” was frustrated with what she felt was a lack of editorial oversight on Examiner.com, the Denver-based content aggregator.

So she gamed the system.

X, who has clips from big name publications like the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and Sunset magazine, wrote a series of Examiner.com pieces that she admits included exaggerations and half-truths, including one about the dangers of playing tag."

It's clear that your "Sources" are not bastions of equality....

It gets better than that Gage!!

They are trying to tell us to do research, but don't even research what they're telling us to research. The "Studie" done in the research faithson is talking about was done by Farleigh Dickinson college in New Jersey; a liberal progressive HAVEN. Voted one of the most liberal colleges. The "Study" they are quoting, was found to be biased and inaccurate.

Thanks, but no thanks faithson. Do some critical thinking.

"And I'm not saying this as someone who is politically opposite of them. I'm saying this as someone who is capable of critical thought."

So, those who disagree with you aren't capable of critical thought, sound about right?

This is so boring to hear over and over. How intelligent the liberals are and how dumb we are; mainly for holding our traditions.

BUT, it's typical liberal rhetoric and name calling. If they can't beat you with honest debate, facts, evidence and common sense politics; they call us stupid, ignorant, uncapable of critical thought and then build up their own EGO's by believing themselves to be highly intelligent. When the truth is, the VAST majority of them are nothing more than trained robots; repeating the same jargon over and over.
