Azziz rulership is an affront

People with brick walls for heads should not be president of anything, most especially a university.

From the beginning, Georgia Regents University President Ricardo Azziz has demonstrated the ability to remain steadfast in his plan no matter what the people of the CSRA have to say. In fact, he has adjusted the past to make it coincide with his and GRU’s present and future. He has manipulated his own research project keeping out any information contrary to his ambitions.

According to Thomas Jefferson, “(W)hen a long train of abuses and usurpations pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government and to provide new guards for their future security.”

Jefferson was speaking of King George III in the Declaration of Independence. The reign of Azziz includes “abuses and usurpations” that have driven the colony of the CSRA to rebel.

Article 1, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution denies the states the power to “grant any title of nobility.” Article 1, Section 9 denies the federal government the same power. Not many cared about the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents, or even knew of their existence, until they began to act like regents (rulers), ignoring the will of the people and naming our schools after themselves. A U.S. university should not represent the “land of the free” with a “title of nobility.”

The name GRU is a violation of U.S. philosophy on many levels. We were happy with the growth of the Augusta Junior College to Augusta College and to Augusta State University because each name change represented growth.

Our schools have disappeared into GRU and Azzizville. The entire episode is an affront to the CSRA and the philosophy of the United States. This is no country for rulers.

Azziz

All this cat has done since he got here is change some names of things. I believe he has the skills to make a difference and I also know you can't please everybody all of the time. Come on Mr Azziz it's not a sign of weakness to be flexible on issues where you can. We pay you well to know the difference. Just do it !!
