Our benefits are squandered

  • Follow Letters

I am astounded at the lack of fiscal responsibility permeating Washington, D.C., from the White House to the halls of Congress. This tax-and-spend mentality will be the downfall of this once-great nation.

Long before Barack Obama was ever mentioned as a presidential candidate, I remember hearing how, when the baby boomers started reaching retirement age, it would cause a strain on Social Security and Medicare because of fewer people contributing to the systems. There would be more people on retirement than would be working, and that made sense to me.

Now this was before the government started giving free medical care and a bunch of other free services to people in the United States illegally. Now that we are giving free benefits to illegals in this country, the Medicare and Social Security pots are basically disappearing for us real American citizens who have been contributing to these systems all our lives. There is something very wrong with this, and if our politicians on Capitol Hill do not wake up we are headed toward being a bankrupt nation.

Expecting nearly 50 percent of Americans to pay income taxes for the other nearly 50 percent of Americans escaping income taxes one way or another was bad enough. Now the nearly 50 percent of Americans paying income taxes are being burdened by the nearly 50 percent of Americans escaping income taxes, plus all these illegals being permitted to pour into our country and receive free benefits. Having nearly 50 percent of my hard-earned income taxed by such a corrupt federal government makes me wonder about the mentality of our president and those in Congress.

My definition of welfare is to provide assistance to those American citizens who are unable to work because of some mental or physical ailment, or who have simply earned the right to retire. I have no problem at all contributing to truly needy American citizens. I do have a serious problem having my income taxed to support able-bodied Americans who are collecting welfare simply because the government allows them to.

I also have a very serious problem having my income taxed to provide free cell phones for these lazy, able-bodied Americans who refuse to earn their keep. If that is not a corrupt federal government benefit, I do not know what is. I have had people tell me just that, too – they are getting welfare because they can! To me that is robbing those who really are infirm and in need of it, so why does the federal government allow it?

It’s all part of socialism. True freedom-loving Americans had better wake up before it’s too late – if it’s not already.

Anthony Fulmer

Eliminate the standard

Eliminate the standard deduction, tax exemption for children, and the deduction for being over 65 and you'll eliminate most of those who don't pay income taxes. You'll also increase the heck out of the taxes on lower and middle class workers, but that's if what you want, call or write your Congressman and Senators.

Mr. Fulmer, very well said. I am afraid that it might be too late. Before he is done the lying Marxist/communist in the WH along with the Marxist/communists that have taken over the democrat party will do great harm to this country.

End Welfare Euphemisms

... My definition of welfare is ... (Anthony Fulmer).

Getting rid of euphemisms would be a good first step toward reducing our level of freeloaders. Rather than speak of welfare, welfare rights, temporary assistance, or other euphemisms, we should call welfare what it is--receiving charity, being on the dole, etc. The correct terminology would help moochers realize what they're doing to America's hard-working taxpayers.

Of course, I'm not being critical of Americans who have paid into Social Security or other means of retirement or who have become disabled from military service. They're not moochers.

One of the answers is

the Fair Tax. That way everyone pays, the visitors to the country, the drug dealers, the pimps, the illegals...anyone who buys any new good or service at retail. Contrary to its critics prices would not go up.

We will never get our spending under control as long as you have moocher representing Congressman such as John Conyers who was just quoted on tv as saying we do not have a debt problem and that in fact debt is good for the country. The left is so short sighted that it is astonding. Of course, this philosophy goes all the way back to FDR who couldn't understand why he couldn't tax the rich 100%. We still have some who still can't understand that.

Much of this is based on the believe that the producers got their money by stealing it from the poor and the only way you can accumulate money is being dishonest.

You can think another Marxist Democrat for opening

the flood gates of WELFARE to every living inhabitant of the USA. Our Baptist, Sunday School teaching, Marxist POTUS Jimmah Cotah. 1972 reforms opened Social Security funds to SSI, DEFACS, TANF, for all non citizens, non SS participants, non SS participant dependants, etc.

And unsustainable burden on the US economy designed to bring about a political and financial revolution. Following Woodrow Wilson's logic (-:

Carter was not a fool. He is a Marxist. A pragmatist. A Marxist who believes not that Jesus saves, but that the STATE saves. His one plus one equals eighteen math was deliberate.

And you can thank the STATE media for changing the word welfare, something given as charity, to something earned, Entitlement. The word welfare was demeaning.

Entitlement is a powerful word. If you are entitled to something then it is YOURS. Go and take what is yours. You will not be stealing, you will be redirecting funds in a Holy War. How appropriate that we in the USA have a Holy War. And many black people are drawn to Islam. Another culture that had its birthright stolen and created a religion to reclaim that birthright. Black Liberation Theology is born.

I view our current system of

I view our current system of paying lifelong welfare benefits to able bodied lazy lowlifes pretty much like keeping brain dead people on life support. It's time to pull the plug and the tubes and see how many can breathe on their own and feed themselves. My guess is that it would do wonders for the nations productivity factor. Any of them that fall out from malnutrition can have their food stamps reinstated but they have to show up every morning at 8 A.M. for work detail to cut grass, clean offices and bathrooms, do ditch maintenance, and maintain public parks and recreation facilities. I'm a compassionate man and I believe everybody deserves the self-respect that comes with being able to feed their own face and pay their own cellphone bill. Oh yeh, those that still get food stamps would have them taxed at the ordinary income rate so they could also have the satisfaction of being a taxPAYER. The amount of tax due would be WITHHELD from their "authorized" amount and the remainder would be credited to their EBT or SNAP or whatever the heck they are calling it this week. Then they could all have the PRIVILEDGE of filing an INCOME TAX RETURN at the end of the year to try and get some of that back.........BUT NO UNearned INCOME TAX CREDIT.

A nation has lost it's collective mind when it pays 1/4 of the people not to work or supplements their income to the point where getting a pay raise actually lowers their income.......and exempts 1/2 of the people from paying federal income tax. Our system is constructed to keep poor people poor and unmotivated to even try to do better while punishing the 1/2 of the people who tote ALL of the load. It's time for some kind of a revolution and I'm starting to not care what kind of revolution it is.

"Moocher"

Very good word Fundamental! Moocher...one who gets money, food, etc., by begging(ha!) or imposition(to place a burden or tax, to force ones wants or needs on others, to take advantage of, and maybe most importantly..to cheat or defraud). I have always called these people who are the abusers of our system and have taken advantage of America, Liars and Thieves! When a little help is needed, fine, just don't make it a way of life! I often wonder how many of these Liars and Thieves go to church every Sunday and call themselves Christian.................................

Mr. Anthony Fulmer

A very good factual writen letter.

Except one comment you made......." Having nearly 50 percent of my hard-earned income taxed by such a corrupt federal government makes me wonder about the mentality of our president and those in Congress."

How can you use the words "WONDER" about the Mentality of the Hammer & Sickle Man and his dummy crook American destroyers in Congress?

Don't know, but I do WONDER how long it's gonna take before Obama and crew realize that even they can't take 100% of our earning in taxes....

At some point that's going to become obvious even to those fools...
