Don't be fooled by Obama

  • Follow Letters

I saw several videos of President Obama describing what will happen if the sequestration, the $85 billion in spending cuts, is allowed to happen. The $85 billion is a little over 2 percent of the federal budget for 2013 of $3.6 trillion. Obama said that thousands of firefighters, police officers and teachers would lose their jobs even though they are not paid by the federal government. He said hundreds of thousands of federal employees would lose their jobs. He said thousands of flight controllers would be laid off. He said federal prosecutors would be forced to drop cases and let criminals out of jail.

If all this will happen with about a 2 percent cut in the budget, what is going to happen when the politicians are forced to make real cuts? Are the majority of Americans dumb? If we believe the lies that are coming out of the Obama administration, perhaps we are.

No, the majority of Americans

No, the majority of Americans are not dumb. They understand that tax dollars are spent largely on services that require human employees, and that cuts in gov't spending will produce job losses. Still, the cuts have to happen. We spend more than we take in.

The only dumb Americans, Mr. Cushman, are the people who think gov't spending does not employ people. That belief is one of the most asinine refusals to acknowledge reality that I have ever witnessed. When Romney yelled it out at the end of one of the debates, I felt embarrassed for him.

I feel embarrassed that

I feel embarrassed that people simply do not understand capitalism. Yes the government hires and employees people. But the government doesn't employ people with the purpose of creating good and services that are sold to others. The only money the government generates is money it takes from people that produce goods and services. Home Depot has created over 1,000 millionaires , all adding to the economic output of the country. Now the only way the government can create a millionaire is by buying something from an individual with money the government has taxed from another individual. Home Depot did not tax one person to produce 1000 millionaires! The price for Obama’s increased government employment is a trillion dollars a year in deficits. If Home Depot ran deficits it goes out of business! Unemployment is still higher than when Obama took office four years ago. This has been the longest, slowest, sustained unemployment in America's history! The really pathetic thing is the fact that Obama is lying to the American people about. It is so blatant that even the lame stream media is calling Obama out on it! Read about Woodward telling how was threatened by an Obama aid for telling the truth...LOL

BURN-sorry but you are so

BURN-sorry but you are so wrong--there is so much waste fraud and duplication that we could cut hundreds of billions without affecting services..but one thing we have too many govt workers and yes they need to be cut loose and it will increase unemployment..bloomberg news tuesday came out with a story about 83 billion worth taxpayes dollars to the banks....there are so many places to cut if obumler would just give a darn about our country and not just himself..how about all those at SRS that really dont do a thing. the govt has a bloated workforce..if you pass out welfare checks they can do work to earn to pick up the slack...how about single bills so we dont have a relief bill for 18b goe to 65b..

Watch as Obama levies the

Watch as Obama levies the sequestration ,he created, he will punish all the red Rep states as we witnessed already in Arizona. The sequestration hasn't even started and he is already punishing people and trying to demogogue it with fear tactics. Very vindictive indicating a sick pathology. I agree with Car creating more govt jobs does little to help the economy-in fact just hinder it. The federal govt has already cut back its "fair" share in support of public school teacher, firefighter, etc. Hence we see our financial problems related to public schools and universities here. Why with all the money they take in (always over budget in spending) have they already been punishing this population with cuts-where is the money going? They keep spending adding to our debt-where is the bang for our buck???????

Two points on this

First, for a long time many said that Obama was just inexperienced and in over his head and really didn't understand what he was really doing. It now is dawning on many that Obama knows exactly what he is doing and is progressing according to his plan of redistibution of wealth, weakening the US because he feels it is a country underseving of its place in the world, and making a more "equal" society by the moochers being given part of what the producers have earned.
Finally, if those cuts were as devastating as portrayed, it is a sad day when we have become that dependent and addicted to the largesse of the federal government that a 2% cut in the increased growth of the budget will cause the sky to fall. With the proposed cuts the government is still on track to spend more this year than last.

I wonder why the President isn't mentioning that even with sequestration, spending STILL GOES UP. It just goes up by less. That would be like me saying that since I only got an 8% raise instead of a 10% raise that I have to sell my house and can't afford to buy groceries.

How insulting to insinuate that those are the only choices of where spending can be cut. Does he think we are that dumb?....(well based on the last election, apparently we as a nation ARE) This is just an example of his fear mongering to get his way. He's like a spoiled little kid.

Notice, his White House budget is not taking any cuts, nor is he symbolically cutting back on travel and vacations.

Furloughs

The government bureau spokesmen are mongering fear in the American people by telling us the government must furlough civil service employees one day a week. That's a 20% reduction in government services. Yet the sequestration cuts are only 2.4%

Dishonesty is Obama's middle name.

Obama is peeing on our heads

Obama is peeing on our heads and the true believers feel a spring shower. Nothing new here. Same old lies, scare tactics, and divisivness.

Ain't been hearing much from his supporters lately since they've gotten their first 2013 paychecks with the new payroll taxes and health insurance deductions and the price of gas and groceries is spiking again.

Exerpts from Ben Bernanke's testimony

Significant progress has been made recently toward reducing the federal budget deficit over the next few years. The projections released earlier this month by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) indicate that, under current law, the federal deficit will narrow from 7 percent of GDP last year to 2-1/2 percent in fiscal year 2015.8 As a result, the federal debt held by the public (including that held by the Federal Reserve) is projected to remain roughly 75 percent of GDP through much of the current decade.

However, a substantial portion of the recent progress in lowering the deficit has been concentrated in near-term budget changes, which, taken together, could create a significant headwind for the economic recovery … Moreover, besides having adverse effects on jobs and incomes, a slower recovery would lead to less actual deficit reduction in the short run for any given set of fiscal actions.

To address both the near- and longer-term issues, the Congress and the Administration should consider replacing the sharp, frontloaded spending cuts required by the sequestration with policies that reduce the federal deficit more gradually in the near term but more substantially in the longer run.

Contrary to what some of the ill informed think

that the Republicans in the House are responsible for this the House has sent two bills to the Senate over the last year and a half and the Senate is yet to even bring them up for discussion. If there was any way to measure senate effectiveness throughout the history of the USA I would bet this one under Harry Reid would be the worst. It has been a sorry excuse for a governing body.

The house has sent bill yes. The issue is that the house knew that both bills would be DOA. Instead of trying to govern house republicans are more concerned with idealogical purity than actually achieving something.

It seems the leaders of the democratic party have told their peons that they are not smart enough to defend the leaders so they should shut-up and let their leaders like the community organizer do all the talking.
The libs have pretty much stopped commenting in several new papers. I guess they were embarrassing their brilliant leaders so they were told to shut-up. The libs are pretty good at doing whatever their leaders tell them.

Government "jobs" are "created" using money....

that has been siphoned or skimmed from the economy. Virtually any of these "jobs", with the possible exception of the military, could be better performed by the private sector.

Far too many of these "jobs" burn tax money in the process of distributing even more tax money to more and more make-work projects.

NO government "job" actually produces a good or service that results in a profit for the American economy. Rather, they simply go back to the well (taxpayers) over and over again for another infusion of capital.

A real job, actually produces a good or service that has a capital value. GOVERNMENT "JOBS" CONSUME CAPITAL they don't produce it.

When viewed from that perspective, no, the government does not produce any jobs. Not real ones, anyway. None that contribute in any meaningful way to the GDP.

He is very popular with the ignorant and with the misinformed. Here are a couple of quotes that fits the community organizers peons very well.
“None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."
“A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”

mrenee2003, as someone with

mrenee2003, as someone with part Native American ancestry down both my maternal and paternal ancestral lines, I take no offense at the expression "Honest Injun". I don't consider it a slur. I've been called many other things, like white cracker, and worse, in front of my minor children that I consider racist slurs and/or slander, but when I'm doing the right thing as a law-abiding citizen in Augusta, GA, that is one of the things that happens and there is apparently nothing I can do about the verbal abuse except move.
